Sorry I never got to see this before but damn! This was amazing, it's always interesting to see one's interpretation of a cancelled movie. I'm kind of thankful Superman Lives never got made because I don't see Nick Cage as Superman, to be honest. But just like many casting choices people weren't okay about, they were surprised to see they could pull it off. Also, nice tease at the end with Batman, did you get that idea from the Death of Superman Lives documentary?
+Impending Rival I'd been toying with the idea of doing this since Jon Schnepp first announced his Kickstarter for that documentary having previously read the Kevin Smith script online about 15 years ago. I know that when Tim Burton came onboard he apparently ditched his draft but that was what I mainly took inspiration from for this. Things like Batman appearing onscreen, the Shadowcaster or Lois and Jimmy escaping on a flying vehicle are straight out of Kevin Smith's script.
Nathan Dermond - Yes there were lots of rumors, I think Sandra Bullock was also someone they were thinking of for Lois Lane, and Jon Peters’ first choice for Superman was Sean Penn.
Actually Tim Burton never considered Jim Carrey for playing Brainiac (He even joke about it in the Death of Superman Lives documentary by saying: "Jim Carrey was even born?").
It's a mixture of a number of things, there's stuff from various Superman movies, The Dark Knight, Spiderman, Sunshine, Prometheus, District 9, Judge Dredd, etc...
