I have the El Cheapo 6" version, what means GrivEx handle and AUS8 steel, and I am quite happy with it. Used the Lansky Master Sharpener ceramic rod system to give it a 20° edge. After some stroping it is razor sharp, and the edge holds the sharpnes pretty good. Every 2 - 3 weeks a bit stroping, and all is good. I like it, one of my favorite knifes. Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. Greetings from Germany!
Have 4 ti-lite's. 2 of 6 incher and 2 of 4 incher. Aluminum scales and aus8a steel. Friend of mine milled and tapped one of each for lefty pocket clips, so I can carry two of them, one in each pocket. Love the styles. Hard on the pockets though. Aus8a is not a super steel, I know, but these knives for me are not really for opening boxes and envelopes. These knives are primarily
I hear that, but if you could use this as a daily knife and it retains an edge, you can ALSO use it defensively, if needed. Also, if you depend on this knife for your only defense, that sucks. Otherwise, it’s just wasting space in my pocket when I’m also carrying a smaller knife, a Glock 19X, POM OC Spray, a pen, my keys, wallet, and some kind of multitool.
@@infra_r3d133 it does suck, but some states suck when it comes to our right to defend Ourselves, and sometimes this is the only option, so in those instances it doesn't suck, it's really relative.
I own the old 6" blade version as well. The steel is irrelevant to me because I only carried it for self protection purposes anyway, which means that, if deployed, it would only have to stab & slash once. My "Duluth Trading Company" Ballroom jeans have really deep pockets that also hold the Espada XL!!!
I have the 6-inch version with an alloy handle and CTS-XHP steel, which has been phenomenal. It is used all the time, has been dropped more times than I'd have liked, still has the original edge and shaving sharp. I also use it for opening mail, Cold Steel couldn't get their preferred CTS XHP anymore so had to opt for the S35VN steel. Still excellent steel but not AS good in my opinion.
Great video, these Ti Lites are a very well made knife. Fit and finish is second to none in my opinion. They'll last many years. Some of the best made knives are coming out of Taiwan.
You did have one, but it was like a “bonus stuff at the end of the video” knife. I don’t think you’d find it in a title or keyword anywhere for the channel.
The plastic handle aus-8 version is the best imo, for few reasons aus-8 might not hold an edge the best but it's very tough and damge resistant, also the grind on this knife is thick and therefore not a good slicer. Also the plastic handle gives some extra grip. Now this knife design is very deadly it's like a stiletto that took steroids and thats why i like it. It's good for stabbing not so much for edc tasks, and although i don't need to stab things i appreciate it for what it is...
There are 3 versions of this knife, and I have them all. The RARE anodized chrome scale handle was the best model. But beware of counterfeits. (A REAL one has pronounced stacked edges milled on the thumb stud. And the screws are star, NOT hex)
An automatic knife that‘s NOT a side opener and is double edge or has over 3,35“ (8,5cm) long blade lenght is not even allowed to own in Germany 😂 and you are not allowed to carry a one-hand knife. Also fixed blade knife with overall blade lenght above 4,72“ (12cm): no carrying 😂😂
In England, no locking blades are allowed to be carried, has to be under 3 inch non locking blade haha and no fixed blades. Also illegal to own any automatic opening blade. Absolutely pathetic laws

Great defensive knife, and with that steel, for that price you can't beat it! Thanks Chris for the update!
An oldie but a goodie... did not know they offer a s35vn version.
Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
Much love from Switzerland

What kind? 😂
Hey I got a dooby
there's something really cool about having big knife in all steel, definitely feel safer walking in bad neighborhoods
Just bought the exact same one and I love it! It'll take some breaking in, but I'm impressed. Built like a tank but still slim and pocketable.
Seems like the Aluminum scales might be slippery?
defensive blades so holding an edge longer is not really an issue for me.
I was just thinking that all I see when I look at that is to stab something.could be 8cr really wouldn’t matter except the price
Agreed

I actually love this knife. I have the Aus8 I really need to get the S35VN.

Thanks for the review of this letter opener. You have me convinced. Need one.
Serious knife with a serious purpose.
I had a very similar revelation recently as well. I just picked up a cold steel large Espada. Love it!
Good choice! Just got a 6inch kris one myself. Testing out Cold-steels new build quality
I got my 6” Kriss today in serrated! Love it, polished the blade brighter too.
You also had a mtech dupe of this knife that was a nice little beater/bonus knife and it had all the same features.
I ground my ramp a little to give it more hook on the drag for wave action. It was a very useful mod.
I have both aus 8 and s35. I prefer the aus 8 for self defense because it’s lighter and sharper!
keeping up with this channel so long glad you're still going. nice review. dig your style.

The plastic ZyEx handled ones have AUS 8, the aluminum handled ones had CTS-XHP carpenter steel and then CS switched them over to S35V.
Originally the aluminium handled ones were also aus8a before they started making them in cts xhp

Cool. I carried that kind of folder clipped to the side of my pocket for many years. But recently I changed things up.
Jonesy: "Let them ave it, right up!"
Just bought four 6 in ti-lite
WELL I WONDER WHICH KNIVES ARE SOON TO BE SOLD OUT OVER AT COLD STEEL ...........I Overlooked It 500 Times But Seeing It Here Now I Want One........
Has yours rusted at all ?
I know s35vn is stainless but my ti lite is rusting
Unavailable..out of stock etc except for DLT, $210
Love this! And the perfect size. I heard a rumor that Lynn C Thompson was closing up shop. Just a nasty rumor?
Look it up. He sold the company. Old men do that.
He nailed it. Don’t discount COLD STEEL …. Bad MAMA JAMA. I have the LARGE ONE… and it ROCKS. S35VN…. Thompson again gets my salute.
Comparable in size to the CRKT M16?

I need to learn my different steel. I just got a blade from steel river. Folding dagger. the steel is Sr 115. Is this good steel
Can you do a review on it
I be glad when this sissy City and State I live in update the laws on carrying these type implaments because we are way way behind. 🤕💰🤕
I haven't bought a liner locker in a long time.. lately I've been on a 1 hand easy function type of pocket knife
The 6" Ti Lite can be easily opened/closed with one hand, unless perhaps if you have small hands.
not sure about the 6" but i have the 4" and can easily open and close it with one hand
Isn’t this guy in Sopranos
This is your Fallout switchblade
Awesome dude
you did have a video on the 6 in i got one after your video
I miss you knife vids man
Sand the edges off of the quillion
I want to buy. How much?
Cool
My edc forever. If you snap it you can also flip it!
?
Great vid, I love this knife too. You *can* use the flippper function also by the way.
Had it for about 10 years. Loved it. Untill I forgot it in my pocket and TSA commies took it

Like an EDC video? That makes sense.
@@preparedmind101 how would you compare the cold steel ti lite to the bench made socp folder. I already carry the socp folder. But now I want the ti-lite too
i dont agree that aus8 is that bad
It is acceptable if it is heat treated right but cold steel doesn’t. But still s35vn Is way better like it’s not even a comparison lol
You have a face for radio, definitely not you tube.
Lol
When closed, it isn't centered in the handle. For almost $100, that is a no no for me. Nice looking knife though.
O-H
S35VN does wipe clean real easy, although those scales will clog up, so it’s a no from me today...Thanks for showing though 👍
If you get your hands dirty often it isn't good but otherwise mine's just collecting a bit of dust inside. Doesn't affect use and is easy to clean.
