I modded my ps3 earlier this year but have not really been able to do anything but load games on retroarch. Now that I know how to do ps2 I would like to do a ps3 game.
Is there any way to get the USB ports working for third party controllers? I find that nothing else besides a DualShock 3/4 works, which is a shame because I would love to use arcade style fighting sticks for the fighting games.
Thank you James!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a ps3 ending in 2101A and I have wasted hours on other tutorials from Han, Multispam, etc that all end up with the same message "This version of PS3 system does not support PS2 media." This is the first and only process that has worked flawlessly!
I personally just launch MultiMan so its embedded FTP server launches, and then I connect to the aforementioned FTP server on the PS3 via something like FileZilla and I copy my ISOs like that. Running Managunz to copy the ISO is sort of unnecessary if you already have mmCM (Multiman) installed, but to each their own I suppose. Also to note is the fact that you'll only get near perfect compatibility if you have an early gen PS3 (of which has the PS2 on an SoC, essentially the entire PS2 motherboard on a single chip inside that early model PS3). If you have a PS3 Slim all PS2 game ISOs will run under COBRA PS2 emulation and your milage may vary due to that. With that said, I actually have a softmodded (with HDD) PS2, so all my games work just fine, so I don't use my PS3 for PS2 gaming often, but I digress.

I tried but back then there was a higher risk of being banned if you sign in online. Didn't wanna lose anything. Also now there's a larger library of games that work. More issues have been ironed out. So personally I don't mind waiting. I could hack my PS4 too but I'll wait a few more years for that.

After copying my game iso over to my ps3, I didn’t see any ps2 format game or the disc icon anywhere on the dashboard. There is actually a method to do so Although this method is NOT SUITABLE for you. If wanna play ps2, you should make the iso as .pkg format, make it as ps2 classics and done! There are tons of tutorials available online Hope this is useful!
Hey I just picked up a jailbroken PS3 the other day. I'm able to rip my own PS3 games and get them to all working. But I notice when I do run PS2 games through the jailbroken slim PS3, the fans run at 100% speed and are LOUD. Do you know any fix for that? thanks.
Yo bro, open up Webman and check out your cooling system, turn down ps2 emulator fan speed from 100 % to 65% if you’d like personally, it’s probably higher due to ps2 games running kinda ass not gonna lie well some and depends on most of it. But yuh
It would be great to add an Artemis PS2 Cheat as well and then load the game with ManaGunz! With that we don't have to struggle each time by adding codebreaker elf files into the iso and then look dumb when it crashes! ;)
Thanks for the video. I don't think you mentioned it but the fat32 usb needs to be formatted. Anyhow, I was failing at it and I found that out. I formatted one but when I drag the managunz to dump it in the usb drive I get the message "Are you sure you want to copy this file without it's properties?" I didn't see that occur with you. Do you what I might be doing wrong?
@@nightin9871 Not sure if you figured it out, but just in case anyone else is looking for an answer I'll note my findings. I followed the process in Multiman to install multiple games to the hard drive, once those are all there, then I can use Managunz to mount the game that I want. So, you only have to install the game on the hard drive once, but you have to mount the game you want to play before you can play it. As an aside, I didn't have to use the multiman process to transfer the games via USB stick. I could open Multiman to start the ftp server, and then FTP the PS2 ISO files directly from my PC to the PS3. The PS2 ISO files go into the " /dev_gdd0/PS2ISO/ " folder on the PS3. Once they're there, I can use Managunz to mount them just as if I had followed the Multiman USB method.
So does this only work with games that are listed as a ps2 classic from the ps store? I am running ps3hen and when I follow these steps where the disc is supposed to be it just says "unsupported format disc" as if I just put a ps2 disc in the system

only one ps3 model has ps2 compatibly, it is the ps3 fat model, you either have a ps3 slim or super slim, but all of them work with ps1 games which is cool.
I did everything but when I mount the game to the disk and click the start my tv shows blank screen and the hdmi disconnected... The ps3 is still open but not responding until I force it to power off and restart. Any clue?

Just put the game files in the GAMES folder in hdd0 then you can play it with MMCM

I'd you're running a PS3 slim it seems we all get this issue. This method ain't it. You have to convert the files to a package that the emulator runs.
What about the controller? Is there any issues with USB type vs the bluetooth controller?

@@luct1016 That's why. PS3 Super Slims do not have PS2 BC. It relies on emulation rather than having proper PS2 hardware, which I believe MG utilizes.

You need to create a PS2ISO folder in the dev_hdd0 hardrive. Then drag your iso in the PS2ISO folder. It worked for me.
