My latest documentary took longer to complete than expected. Here's a little music video I put together whilst waiting for feedback from my proofreader.
Been wanting to make this video for awhile. After hearing this song in the cinema, I just had to make this little tribute to the television show that to many Godzilla fans was the redemption of the 1998 film and earned Zilla back the God title.

Ah, yes. The best thing to come out of the American Godzilla movie: Godzilla the Animated Series.
Plus, at least the creators of the series actually knew who and what Godzilla is like “oh yeah, Godzilla has atomic breathe!”; plus not bad on some of the designs of classic Kaiju from Toho especially on Mecha-Zilla

Apparently the people at Toho are pretty bloodthirsty when it comes to their products. They’d give GMK’s Godzilla a run for his money on the blood thirst department.
The movie parent of the animated one is the one called Zilla, but since the series paid proper homage and honor to the OG Godzilla by giving the animated protagonist the powers and awesomeness, Japan accepted it and calls him Godzilla.
both monsters are still copy righted as godzilla technically but toho made the new monster zilla as a ''in case we need to use'' and so far its final wars, idw comics and the godzilla earth novel

Zilla Jr. could be a great titan in the Monsterverse as Titanus Jira. Instead of having to be broad and sturdy like his relative Titanus Gojira, It focuses more on speed and relies on being cunning, using the environment to his advantage.

I was thinking the same thing. Why not have 1998 Godzilla jr. be the son of Legendary Godzilla in a storyline where Legendary’s life is coming to an end and he needs a descendent. Legendary would then meet a female of the subspecies, Jira or Zilla, where the two start to have a family. All things go well until a Kaiju, could be Ghiddora or an original monster, attacks the two and the nest. The battle would end with Legendary giving his life to save the last egg and the egg would then hatch and become Godzilla JR.

I would honestly like to see them bring back zilla Jr in the legendary series, but make him like Godzillas adopted son in a way. He's a fucking great monster, and lives up to the name enough to give respect towards the OG big guy. I also really wish we had gotten the animated series before hand so that way he wouldn't be so widely hated. I'm probably one of the few out of like 100 to say this, but I also genuinely love his design. If a actual Godzilla existed I can see it more looking like this with a few changes than what we honestly have. Not saying the classic design is bad in any way, but it more resembles a outdated dinosaur from the 1930s than a actual theropod.
You took the words out of my mouth regarding the design of the character. I can see what both Toho and Tristar were going for with their respective designs and see them as a product of their respective times. The original Godzilla design was based off the then accepted view that the Tyrannosaurus stood upright. By the time Godzilla 1998 came out, it was established that the T-rex walked with its back and tail parallel with the ground. The 1998 design obviously takes this approach.

Ah, Zilla. A joke in real movies but he's a decently powerful beast in animation.
Edit: When I say "real" I mean realistic graphics like in 1998. Zilla being powerful in the anime or comics doesn't count as being truly "real."
They're a legitimate threat in the godzilla monster planet continuity, with one of the highest kill counts of any kaiju.

Tenebrio- if I recall correctly, Toho made them redesign it. They said it had to be different (statement made in a Godzilla 98 handbook or something- I remember reading it that year)

@@zenitsuthunder3946 those were the dorsal plates of the original Gojira. The new forming of the new plates originated from the follow up comic book named Godzilla Aftershock. After Godzilla overloaded with nuclear energy, his back exploded, released a monsterous amount of his atomic fire, destroying his jagged like plates and killing a alpha muto in the process
This show brought us TriStar versions of Mechagodzilla, Kumonga and FireRodan.

This was a GREAT MV, man! I always considered the animated Godzilla series to be criminally underrated, and combined with Bear and Terj's fantastic work on the remade Blue Oyster Cult classic was a visual treat! But what sealed the deal was the edited in Godzilla roars in the vid proper. I kinda wish they put one or two of those in the actual song, I think it would have been thematically appropriate. Anyway, like I said, great vid and great editing.
The movie of the 98 was a total desaster but withow that movie Zilla jr not exist,jr have a lot of godzilla spirit in bravery and fighting spirit he alone take out a lot of kaijus even the original zilla turn to a cyborg not have a chance agains zilla jr, im 100% sure is zilla jr was in the legendary monsterverse he will be a good earth defender helping Godzilla fight others evil kaijus.
You forgot, without 1998 there would be no millenium Godzilla series and maybe even no Monsterverse.

Zilla Jr was the beginning of Zilla's redemption arc within the fandom. Man, the animated series was so good.
zilla or godzilla 1998 whichever one you want, is actually one of my favorite incarnation of godzilla it is just hated because zilla was much different than any other godzilla before its time. Zilla is a nice change to godzilla making him more agile and having his dorsal plates go forward, and i’d like to see it in a legendary godzilla film.

Sad thing about the '98 Godzilla movie is that its a completely serviceable, if not straight enjoyable giant monster movie. The problem is, they called it "Godzilla," while stripping away a lot of traits that people love about the character. I love the cartoon for essentially injecting a hardy dose of Toho Kaiju campy fun back into this iteration, and essentially made what the '98 movie could have/should have been. Either way, I digress, bomb ass video 👍
It made him just as indestructible in the series as the original Godzillas to a believable universally grounded point. Had people not trashed the film so much the sequels would have done the same as the series and given Godzilla quite the upgrade and other monsters to fight. Seriously a trilogy was planned.

Hell yeah! This is my Godzilla! I love all versions of the character, but the G-Man here was my introduction to the franchise, and for that he will always be my favorite. Thankfully, his name is still trademarked as Godzilla, not that "Zilla" bullshit purists keep pushing for.
Aye, this was the first Godzilla movie I saw as well (though incidentally I didn't find out that it spawned a cartoon sequel until years later), and I have to say I prefer it to what I've seen of the original Godzilla films, for the simple fact that due to advances in special effects this one looks like an actual giant animal, where as the originals looked like pudgy stuntmen in suits breaking doll houses.
