I am a new subscriber (as of today) and I am going to give this recipe a try for sure. I am elderly and I have osteoporosis really bad and can’t stand up for very long at a time so recipes like this are just what I need. I try to use lots of vegetables and always beef or chicken for the protein. I love the using the crockpot because it helps me not to get up and down so much. I am going to go back to watch some of your other videos to see what else I might try. I have one final comment and it is for people who are subscribed to your channel and those who are not. 😂I have read some of the comments and I would like to say to the people who have chosen to comment. It is simply this: all of these negative comments are petty and ridiculous. Why do you sit and watch if you are going to pick her videos to pieces, all of you need to go watch another channel. The ladies that make these videos spend a great deal of time making them and then they have to edit them, not to mention the money they spend to keep all of the ingredients on hand. Be a little bit kinder in your comments
Well said love. I appreciate the efforts made to get content out. People are just bullying Justine and it’s mean. I could shred their comments to pieces but I would be no better than them. I’ll leave it at this, it’s not hard being kind. For those being nasty, perhaps they should seek help. I hope Justine doesn’t read the comments. Bless her. I appreciate her content. ❤
Looks good! I would make a more from scratch version but the crockpot idea is cool. I would cook the onions with the ground beef and put the cheese on top of the potatoes. Also I would leave out the cream soup and season the ground meat mixture before adding. I try to eat unprocessed but I’ve used those Bob Evans mashed potatoes and they are indeed delicious.
Looks really good but I have a question. Why does everyone on these cooking channels take itheir portion out of the middle? The Libra in me is screaming!! Lol
The Virgo in me is screaming too, but for just about everything she does... everything she does is so unorthodox.🥴 Her channel is like a train wreck , very few things I'd ever make but I still can't stop watching.😝
With summer coming up this is a perfect dish because I'm not about to turn an oven on especially here in Tucson Arizona! It's spring but it's more like summer now.
I'm not hating on Justine or the channel, I very much enjoy it! But, does anyone ever watch these cooking channels and think, "Wow, there are still people out there who can still afford to buy brand name"?
There are many variations of every recipe. Make it the way you want to, but why discourage someone else from tweaking the recipe, experimenting, and making it their own way?
I love to shred my own cheese and make my own mashed potatoes the way my mom taught me. I'm a new cook and I can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you for posting this
This looks like a good hearty meal. Will definitely try it. It gets way too hot here to turn on the oven and truthfully I’ve never really thought about the crockpot during the Summer.
Run a butter knife around the inside dge of can, and it will normally plop right out. Easy swipe of rubber spatula to get the remaining soup out. Also, it works great if you can open the can upside down 😃👍
Nice idea, I can see me making my own cream of mushroom soup no problem, I will likely cut my own vegetables, no problem, and likely use Lamb as it’s our favorite… I prefer to grate my own cheese because I’m allergic to the cellulose they use in the packaged, shredded cheese, then I would probably top it with some cauliflower rice that I might mash depending on how I’m feeling that day. By making some of the ingredients myself, I can control the salt that goes in. All great flavors and a much easier way to do a shepherds pie. All the flavors are there. It’s all you need. Hadn’t thought of doing this before in a crockpot before, but it will save so much time. Thank you Justine… Looks so yummy. Can’t wait to try it.
Shepherd's pie is made with fresh Garden carrots and peas, Frozen vegetables are tasteless. And I agree with the comment that onions should be sauteed with the meat ❤
Have you ever used ground turkey instead of beef? I've found that if you add beef base and worschester (did I spell correctly?) to the turkey it makes great chilli, pasta marinara, etc. I live near a deep discount store that sells ground turkey $8 for 3lbs sometimes.
Great looking recipe...i hate lamb...i can put in crock pot....fix a few mashed potatoes...after i get home...and i may put this over some noodles as well...piece of crusty bread...yum! ❤❤
@easygoing6397 ....first one I ever saw made was made with lamb....its a popular meat for shepherds pie...hence the name ....like way back...1800s....mutton...lamb...British I think...
Strictly speaking, you're correct about the protein choice; however, it's very common to use beef mince these days in Shepherds Pie. It certainly doesn't need to be corrected. Justine's recipes, execution, presentation, and their filming have improved by leaps and bounds and I certainly give them credit for keeping on and putting themselves out there despite constant keyboard criticism. It's not always easy to do that. Keep it up Justine & camera guy! Shepherds Pie it is!
Okay you can cook the meat but have to buy already chopped onions and already made mashed potatoes ??? Nah that's not Shepherd pie no thank you... next
Do you ever read the ingredients in all those convenient products? They're full of added salt and chemicals and bad for you oils. Fresh ingredients although takes a little longer to make are so much healthier for your body.
Thank you for sharing this. This would be easy to make at home. It is TOO EXPENSIVE nowadays to eat out, so we are cooking everything at home. And, we have saved $300 bucks last month by not going to restaurants that charge $20/$25 per person. It's just impossible on our Teacher's Pays. So, that's why COPYCAT RECIPES are such a big thing right now.
Nobody i know cooks like this . Its not even cooking its assembling and making disgusting noises. Real chefs do not hype the food bc the food speaks for itself. Slobbering over these packets yuck.
Im not trying to be critical but her screaming bothers me. Youre right. Its overrreacting. Too much talking too. Sorry Justine, but it just grates on our nerves.
I have never understood - any time someone in these cooking videos need to use Cream of Something soup, they always stand shaking the can, like it's going to come out easily. Guess it's good upper body strength development 😅😅
Most people don't cook from scratch anymore 🤦♀️ people enjoy ideas for easy meals. There's nothing wrong with what she makes. It would feed a family especially if they are busy. This actually looks quite delicious so idk why people need to complain about this sh*t
I wouldn't think you'd have to cook it in 2 hours because everything basically is already cooked.Your frozen vegetables are cooked.Your hamburger is cooked, so really? All you're cooking. Are your onions? And I just think 2 hours is too long but I'm gonna try this recipe.I have to cut it down enough for 1 person.
You have some great recipes! Unlimited appreciation! Watching from South Carolina.😊
Onions should really be sauteed with the beef!
Do it yourself then.

Here's a comment for your cooking girl: she needs to speak as one does to adults, not as though she was in front of a kindergarten class.
Yum

Cream of broccoli
I love to cook with my crockpot. All your recipes look delicious and easy for a working mother and grandmother. I love everything you make.❤
Looks really good especially on a cooler day.

You're so sweet! I love watching you cooking. Good luck❤❤
Looks great 😋 thanks for sharing my friend ❤
Justine , you are a doll. Thanks so much.
I'd choose different veggies due to allergies. This looks great 😃
The food looks great. I love an easy crockpot meal on super busy days.
I'm not hating on Justine or the channel, I very much enjoy it!
But, does anyone ever watch these cooking channels and think, "Wow, there are still people out there who can still afford to buy brand name"?
I wish people would make Shepard’s pie the correct way.
I'm sure you have a kitchen. 😉
There are many variations of every recipe. Make it the way you want to, but why discourage someone else from tweaking the recipe, experimenting, and making it their own way?
I make shepherds pie but not like that.
that’s right it takes more energy to be negative anyway
We all have our own ways and our own styles!😁💁🏼♂️
So just to be correct. Shepherds look after sheep. Shepherds pie is made with lamb. Cottage pie is made with beef.
Really 🤦 she made that dry at season less mess and this is what you chose to comment and bitch about
Exactly what I came here to say.
Who cares all the same...make however you want.
Bingo
Takes me 45 min to do it normally.
OMG! I did this in my crockpot. This dish was so delicious that it's going to be a staple in our house!
I'm a bachelor and I love ur easy one pot meals 😋

What can be substituted for the canned soup? I don’t use them because they contain bioengineered ingredients.
The canned soups are very unhealthy! You do'n't need a substitute.

The recipe turned out fantastic!!
What brand name is your Crock Pot?
I think it's the Drew Barrymore brand.
I make this but I just do it in my oven.
That's what I've been saying, and someone responded that she lives in Las Vegas. Well, most of us don't....
This is easy and SO delicious! I prefer to have the potato crust a little golden brown, so I used my Creme Brule torch to brown the potatoes😋
You are a great crock pot teacher :)

Yummmmm
I'm also from Tucson and it is already getting to be too hot to turn on the oven. Can you believe it
Jar or 2 of beef or brown gravy, canned drained mushrooms instead of mushroom soup would be a tasty plan b.😊
Sorry dumping is not “cooking” its assemblinh
Mashed Potatoes are Homecooked always in my Home!
Why does the beef need to be fully cooked before starting the Crock Pot...a small appliance that cooks meat...?
Can someone write the recipe??
She loves to talk down to the kindergarteners.
its pronounced "wash your sister sauce". you cant go wrong and everyone knows what you mean.

Hey Justine's kitchen 😊👋
Better in oven 🙄 would brown
I'll try in fall
If you poke a hole in the bottom of the can of soup, it will come out easier.
Try with oven. Broil at end. Tell me what you think.
That’s a LOT of salt 😳
Cream of onion
Why even the veggies when you stirred all together?👍
