Oh wow thank you! I could listen to Michael sing/perform this forever. Love how he is straight into character after every little direction. The other thing I love is his beautiful Queen’sEnglish diction. I can’ remember hearing anyone else differentiate between tge ending of splendOUR and tendER! I wish I had gone to see him in live performance. I knew he was starring in it but London seemed so far away. Not nearly as far as when he took it to the US! And what a shame A recording wasn’t made 🎉of any of the live performances for those of us who found it difficult to see it in person 😢😢❤❤
I feel so blessed that i was able too see these two perform in NY back in the late 80's with my folks. They subjected me too A LOT of musicals, concerts, and operas and i feel better for it now that i'm an adult. And a singer myself.
Both were amazing. Unbeatable. I find them more natural them most others who came after them. No overacting, just the right amount. A natural voice with no excessive ups and downs. I am not an expert, simply someone who appreciates.
The only par that really captured their magic was John Owen Jones & Katie Hall and they should have been the phantom and christine in the 25th anniversary if wasn't for that mercenary scumbag cameron mackintosh
the seat of wheat music's throne. only Michael Crawford could pull off a goof up and we're like, "We don't care. Maybe wheat makes music." he could sing the dictionary and i'd be captivated. love you Michael!
Michael and Sarah were just perfect. My favourite pair besides them, is John Owen Jones & Katie Hall who actually matched Erik and Christine besides Michael & Sarah. JOJ & Katie should have been the 25th concert leads it would've been so beautiful to see them four together. cameron mackintosh and ALW are two mercenary scumbags.
Another very Erik Phantom was Ethan Freeman (who was actually known as "The Leroux Phantom" on West End during his run.) Fun fact: John Owen Jones said Ethan was the first Phantom he saw as a young man and who inspired him in the role. A few years later Ethan was Javert when John made his understudy Jean Valjean debut😊
2024 and I'm Still in awe of this music, theatre., characterisation acting, voices. I feel so lucky to have seen this rehearsal process developing the stage direction. Thank you.
i'd never heard Christine's part keyed down, but since I'm doing a talent show performance of pto/music of the night with a friend of mine who's not sure if she can hit that I believe it's a E, anywho that high note, and this might be a great reference point for her.
She's just "marking" it for rehearsals ..they wouldn't expect her to hit those notes every time they rehearsed the staging of the scenes. She'd be worn out.
Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford. The Originals for ever.
Michael has a very haunting tone about his voice. Which fit this part PERFECTLY for him.
Omg Crawford's voice is so perfect
Mike is daddy

When Michael Crawford talks, he still sounds like Frank Spencer. Funny.
Exactly same thought when I heard him talk.
His singing voice is totally different from his talking voice.

I love seeing Harold Prince work with his actors…he’s so generous to their ideas and kind.

This is gold!
thank you for this ❤ how beautiful and interesting ✨
This is how you can tell people can really sing.
Wow!
funny how in the musical the bride human is replaced by a crumpled dummy later on
Is there any place to find the actual piano score of this? I have the piano music but it’s so basic compared to in the show.
thanks for pointing that out, now I'm terrified.
Why Is Christine’s Sing For Me Scene Lowerd Down?
She's just "marking" it for rehearsals ..they wouldn't expect her to hit those notes every time they rehearsed the staging of the scenes. She'd be worn out.
I kinda like it lowered tho it sounds really nice
What on earth happened to Sarah Brightman's face at 1:06
No idea haha
Well, I guess it has to be more than anything the quality of the recording.
Nothing
For me Crawford is the creme of the creme... She doesn't like it
