“You’re lost if you don’t know your literature.” That’s some real shit. I’ve always been affiliated by association, but I never got into the literal “gang banging”. Maybe a squabble here and there back in the day, but shit was different then. I’m pushing 30 and it’s guys that I came up with in the hood that’s still around telling me “T, you always been smart. You always been a thinker.” I to this day encourage all my brothers and sisters to truly get educated in whatever it is that you claim. The power was in the knowledge. That’s why the knowledge doesn’t exist anymore on the streets. It’s all action.
And the point of gangbanging was to eventually be your own man, without the gang. That’s why the old heads were all blessed out as they progressed and they left the gangbanging to the shorties. It’s supposed to be a way to correct your behavior and become a man. Today it’s been twisted into the opposite, but eventually they all see the light.
