Mate, you should be commended for your dedication to sharing your experiences and inspiring others to have a go. You're not pretentious, just a good aussie family man. Hope you and your family have a healthy and wealthy New Year!
Gotta say I’m enjoying your daily vlogs. You have changed my view on the 62. I had a Y61 and loved it then when the 62 first came of I really didn’t like the new shape and haven’t given it much thought since. But now you have changed my view on it. I beginning to see the beauty and it sounds awesome 😎. Anyway thanks for taking the time to create daily vlogs. 👍
Hey dash quick solder trick for you - offset the solder joints from each other it will stop them shorting to each other if the solder joint is a little ratty and tape up a ship load better 👨🏻👌🏻 The rig is looking sick keep up the good work and Have a good trip 🤙🏼
Dave, I get great info from your videos, well done! After watching this one, I was keen to see how much light you got on the ground from your rear light bar. The answer: not much! there is shadow on the ground out to about 5 meters. Ok if that's what you were expecting. I'll be rethinking a LED flood work light I think.
Happy new year to you and the family, like the idea of your tool kit, mine sounds like your old one, bag full of tools that you looks like a bum fight. Nice light bar set up, regarding your wiring, I use these pre heat shrink wire joiners that have solder flux inside of them, all you have to do is insert your wires in each end and heat up with a heat gun, it melts the solder and then shrinks the heat shrink around the wire. Great when you are out bush doing emergency wire repairs etc and will last for ever. You can get them from Bunnings. I have a Darche 270 on my Y62 but my brackets sit higher so that it clears the tailgate. Happy to send you some photos of it if you want as I had the same issue you got when I first installed it. Cheers looking forward to your next one.
Dave, suggest you install a SPDT switch (aka ON/ON or even ON/OFF/ON) within reach of the driving position and wire the light bar so you can have it operable when you select reverse, or by switching the other way, you can have the light on by itself.
@@DASHOffRoad just googled LINX. It looks a little bit like my Edge Insite CTS3 set-up. I can choose 3 gauges from a list of 23 options and can use a soft switch panel too (I prefer hard switches though). I can monitor all sorts of stuff on my Duramax....right down to the 8 individual injector balance rates.
So I finally convinced the missus to have a look at a new Patrol instead of going with a new VX 200 series. We ordered a cruiser back in October but I added a clause in our contract to bail out if they don’t deliver it by a certain time. (Been told the cruiser will now be in March instead of Jan) So I was going to exercise that clause and possibly buy a Patrol instead. We Drove to a couple of Nissan showrooms over here in Perth and none of them even had a demo to look at let alone any stock to buy. Rang around a few others and they reckon if I ordered one today I’d be lucky to have one in 4 months and I’d have to be flexible with whatever colour rolled up. Man, I’m over this cCovid crap. Looks like I should just be happy that I’ve got a new Forby on order and look to trade later on when life somehow gets back to some kind of normality.
@@DASHOffRoad Osbourne Park Nissan (08) 9445 5666. Was told a very similar story from Shacks Holden in Freo when we looked at the one 1500 Silverado they had which wasn’t for sale. Not sure what the car yards look like over East but ours hardly have any cars in them. Melville Ford had about 6 cars in their front yard and one inside there showroom. Same as the Harley Davidson dealerships. They have basically become used bike showrooms as they can’t get the new stock in to meet demand. WA is going absolutely gangbusters, our economy is currently in over drive and nothing seems to be able to keep up with our demand.
Thanks for the content Dave. Interested to know how the Victron mppt is handling the heat due to its upside down mounting. Having recently ditched Redarc and gone to a complete Victron system I’m still playing around with the most efficient installation of all the equipment to maximise cargo space. Hope to hear about your experience. Cheers
Nah im pretty sure the dude uses a lithium battery (80 amp hour) in the engine bay to power all the vehicle mounted bits of kit. He discussed it in the earlier vlogs. Pretty different way of thinking but it seems to be working out for him, time will tell.
Hmm, workaholic, its worse than alchoholism and smoking, blokes come to serene peacful places, and cant resist the urge, they start itching like smokers on a long flight... GOTTA DOOO SOMETHING.

Keep watching through the series Greg, I indeed ended up changing this for the reasons you stated. Cheers 🍻
I have a similar tool kit for my travels. Only added a hammer and multigrips.
Happy New year Dave & family. Keep up the good work. Enjoying the vlogs

I’m thinking of maybe the ARB LINX system, but still researching

That doesn’t sound right to me. As if you can’t order the colour that you want. WA is one of the more challenging places to buy unfortunately

Way too full from today’s lunch to be eating fish and chips for dinner.
Although, stranger things have happened.
How do you find the victron gear?
So far, I reckon it’s fricken awesome!
First! Great video too!
Is the battery under the false floor.
