    I've been having constipation and abdominal pain for over 2 months no medication proved to be effective and the situation got worse. I've done checks on my abdomen.. Everything was alright, I also had groin pain, so went to a manual therapist and...The result was amazing. The psoas can cause abdominal, and gut problems and constipation.

    Wow I've been suffering for over a week with this and have tried so many stretches and exercises with little help. The 3 to 5 minute duration is definitely the key! I could feel the pain dissolve as the muscle 'gave up" against this stretch! THANK YOU so much for posting this video!

    I had this pain from lifting something heavy that caused my lower back to ache all day while I was cooking. Later I googled it & listened to you & did the exercise& my pain went away, thank you so much!

    Omg, this is what my doctors could not figure out for the last 3 yrs. I will start by saying I'm in a wheelchair T-6 complete no filling below the chest, so sitting is a part of life; I have highly severe neuropathy through out my legs and, as of 3yrs ago, in my abdomen now, after watching this video, what I thought was a gut problem is that muscle because I can grab that muscle when I do any pressure release or any moving period. I know I'm everywhere but you don't know how much of a blessing and a relief it is to find the video. I'm so grateful to you, sir. I've been in a deep, deep depression, unable to take care of my daughter on the weekend because I'm not well, and I had many thoughts that my life is useless and that I'm losing my daughter's love and time spent. I contemplated ending my life so many times casue it's hell living with this issue. But you have no clue what you have done for me. I immediately did this exercise and will continue to do so. Your possibly saved my life, and I don't know how to thank you. You saved my daughter's dad, and if she were old enough to understand, she would thank you too. I know there are multiple videos on this, but yours was the first I saw, and that's why I credit you for possibly saving my life; thank you, sir!!!

    Absolutely amazing doctor. I have been in extreme pain for 2 weeks going to the chiropractor the pain calms down but comes right back. When i sit for a prolonged period of time and i would stand up i could not get my body over my legs because i could feel a muscle just pulling me back down with extreme pain. This doctor has saved my life. Thanks🙏🏼

    The other day I could feel my entire back rib cage and it was really painful for 20 seconds. Today its my front left ab area thats really sore. Hard to even talk. When I cough its really painful. Thanks for your time. After watching your video it all makes sense. Today I had a 28ft ladder and it was windy. I did a hard turn to keep my ladder from blowing over. I'm resting now but I gotta work tomorrow and finish what I couldn't finish today

    I just recently found out about this psosas muscle, I complained about this exact pain to the surgeon that did my hip replacement and he had no answer, same with a few physical therapist, it’s as if they don’t want it to heal and this isn’t the only example I had , I had similar experiences with my PCP doctor that I’ve had for years, maybe they don’t want it to get better so I have to come back

    I have a burning sensation by the psoas muscle and the pain makes me buckle into fetal position. It feels better when I push my stomach towards the centre. It has been 4 weeks. I went to the ER 4 times. Can’t walk upright or sit down. Got CT scans Ultrasound and X-rays. Doctor noted it a muscle injury with L1 disc compressed.

If I sit for a long of an hour I feel like I'm getting up slowly as it so painful. Hopefully this works. Oh also the centre of my spine is beginning to have sharp pain too. Weird, never felt before

Though I don't have back pain, it's my abdomen. And I've had it since I was in my 20's and went to the doctor and no one found anything wrong. So I really think it is just muscles.

    Hello. I have been looking for a solution to a pain that I recently developed. It is just below my top floating ribs on my left side. It's in a small spot on my front side. I believe that I developed it while practicing throwing a right cross for boxing. I watched this video and it is the only one that I have found so far that sounds like it will address the problem. When throwing a right cross you have to turn your hips and your shoulders. I think it may be from repeated twisting . Do you think the stretch in this video will be useful to me or should I try something else.

      If you haven't you should look at vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Potassium, magnesium etc. Theres also a mind connection/fear thing from people who have suffered in the past and it's almost a form of PTSD where one is so scared or triggering or a recurrence they actually manifest pain or make it worse. It's just some ideas.

    Would psoas cause abdominal cramps which are like a calf muscle cramp in the leg? I have been having such a problem with my ab cramping up on the left side when I sneeze or laugh too hard or move wrong like demonstrated in this video, and I have hip pain sometimes on the left side - does this sound like the psoas?

    • @escaleator
      @escaleator 5 месяцев назад +1

      I’m also dealing with this. Left side ab spasms/cramping whenever I squat/crunch down or when doing my sit-ups. Sometime it just flutters for no reason. Did you ever resolve your issue?

    • @L_Martin
      @L_Martin 5 месяцев назад

      @@escaleator I've had this issue for 5 years so far. It has improved as I sit much less during the day. I saw a Dr and had a scan of my torso and nothing was found. It seems nerves in that part of the abdomen are not getting enough blood flow when these "Charlie horse" type cramps happen.
      I also get the muscle flutters you describe frequently, like it wants to seize up into a proper cramp but then it doesn't.
      I still get the cramp when laughing too much, coughing a lot if I'm sick, occasionally when sneezing, and sometimes just when turning over in bed at night. I'm only 35!! It really sucks, but yeah, I've learned that moving around and not sitting so much during the day helps massively. Remaining seated and hunched at a desk for long hours is the worst thing for it.
      A good month for me is when I only get the cramp about 3 times, and the cramp is fairly mild & goes quickly. A bad month (sitting too much), I can experience this abdomen Charlie horse 8 times in a month and it suuuucks.
      Have you ever had any surgery that involved cutting into your abdomen? I had laparoscopic keyhole surgery on that area twice in the past & I believe that is the cause of my issue. It's not pleasant to live with, but thankfully I seem to be able to bring the frequency of it down. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

      @@L_Martin Yes I had laparoscopic exploratory surgery of my bowel in December of ‘23. They thought I had a hernia from the results of a CT scan. When they went in they found no hernia, just some adhesions on the right side of my small intestines. That’s the only abdominal procedure I’ve ever had. It didn’t resolve my issue so I went to a surgeon to discuss a colonoscopy and he was honest and said he thinks it’s most likely a muscular/skeletal issue. I’m 40, in good shape, lift weights 4-5 times per week and am active at home, but my job as well has me sitting most of the day. I’ve been doing these stretches for a couple days now. I will continue to do them and some others and see if that resolves my issue.

    • @L_Martin
      @L_Martin 5 месяцев назад

      @@escaleator I was told exactly the same thing by the surgeon I saw, who arranged my CT scan. I'd seen a GP beforehand who told me it could be adhesions due to my 2 laparoscopic surgeries, but the surgeon after doing the CT scan and seeing nothing said my issue was more likely musculoskeletal, just as you said.
      (worth knowing that adhesions do not show up on CT scans, so I still don't know if they might in fact be the cause)
      You say they found adhesions on your right side, but it's your left side that cramps?
      It's incredibly frustrating, but yes, so far I have learned to try and live with it and I find sitting for hours is the worst possible thing that will provoke the cramps. The surgeon also advised me to look into palates or yoga, because while the temptation is to not strain that area and set off a cramp, in fact working the muscles gently is the best thing (according to the surgeon).
      Do you find the cramps stop when you stop lifting? It could be that lifting is provoking the cramp because it is overtaxing those muscles?

    • @escaleator
      @escaleator 5 месяцев назад

      @@L_Martin yes they said the adhesions were on my right side and the spasms are in my left chain of abs. The only time they spasm during lifting is when I’m doing any kind of sit-up motion. But even then, the first or second rep they spasm and cramp, I take some deep breaths and lean back to stretch them and they flutter back to relaxed and I can’t typically finish the set of sit-ups without issue. It’s odd. Sometimes I’ll just be laying on the couch and they will flutter.

      Hello and Thanks for Watching!😄 Abdominal Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES) often presents with Similar Symptoms to what’s described in the video. However, they are two different conditions. We often prescribe similar types of exercises/stretches/manual therapy for both conditions. Injections are often unnecessary if a proper regimen of conservative care is performed with regularity and diligence. I hope this answers your question. Thanks again for watching and your inquiry.

    From a bad lift (carrying heavy radiator down the stairs) pain is low back combined with low front, same area.
    I figured it could possibly be one muscle... not 2 coincidentally.
    Sitting (driving long trip for 4 hours) aggravated it.
    This stretch is the opposite of sitting, so I presume it will work.
    Will try it for a few days.

    Is it possible that a very tight psoas can 'press' against your blatter? Or that it causes lower back pain and stomach pain together? With me it seems that when I want to go from a hollow back to a convex back, my stomach goes into counter-react and the whole thing is stretched/tightened there. Can this be of that psoas muscle? • @diejeekoen
    @diejeekoen 4 года назад +2

    The spasm of the psoas originates most likely from a derangement from a lumbar disc of L2-3 or L3-4. And yes to much flexed sitting and lifting can be the problem, because that can cause such a derangement. When you fix the derangement the spasm will release without stretching. The derangment can be reduced by doing extension excercises of Mckenzie. Your exercise may also help, because some people will also get extension in the higher lower back by doing it. But then it is not helpfull to keep the other leg flexed standing on the treatment table or otherwise trie to stabilize the lower back in a neutral position. Even better: look for a MDT/Mckenzie solution by doing back exercises, and look after you sitting postuure in the long term. This has been ongoing since the traumatic birth of my son 6 years ago. I can do trigger point release on that spasm and it will go away, but it will come right back. I have had a mri lumbar spine and it was negative. Do you think this is still my lumbar spine?

    • @diejeekoen
      @diejeekoen 4 года назад +1

      @@Mereship from your history an pelvic or SI problem is more plausible. Probably you can fix it with vigoursly flexing or extending that site whilst holding the other side opposite. Let the reaction of the muscle spasm lead you. Then it maybey necessary to do it regularly over a longer time ( 10 times every 2 hours). Otherwise see someone who can judge and treat your pelvic tilt.
