    Those are old military tires off of hummers,very heavy and thick even if you have 1 psi they won’t flex . I had a set on my j10 5k truck with6psi and they were heavy as hell! They are radial tires and are cheap to buy here

    I don't even have any experience in "rock crawling" but those tires are aired up WAY to high

    For those commenting on the tire pressure. I'd have to guess the weight of this rig is floating around 2000lbs with driver and fuel. I'd be willing to bet those tires have little to no air in them at all.

      Agreed, look at the sidewall distortion - esp' around 3:20.

      It definitely takes a few rides to break in sidewalls with a light rig. Ask anyone who wheels a Samurai.

    really ingenious build you have there, however your video demostrates the pitfalls of too much suspenion travel aswell as to soft suspension, also the lack of wheel speed (power).
    a crawler only needs 45-60* of axle twist, any more like yours and you fall into holes and hinder your self, also at several point more power would have hopped you up onto rocks, where slow crawling cant always do the job. great build and a azing design in the suspension, but I have sneaky suspicion that since then it doesnt flex quite as much or at least you use less kf its articulation.

    • @neep401
      @neep401 7 лет назад +1

      Oliver Boatwright this was the first run learning how to drive it have changed the set up a lot got rid of the xml for sticky treps have more wheel travel and uses all of it better hydro pumps have a lot more control your right about the power but it is a crawler it works very well and has done well in comps

    Looks fragile for how much articulation it has. And yes psi is way to hi. And seems to have zero wheel speed. I am a fan of the slow strategic crawl but wheel speed is still a must.

    I like the effortless body balancing on the big rocks. But I don’t like that it literally crawls at turtle pace.
    Is it lacking horse power.

  • @kookiethebear
    @kookiethebear 7 лет назад

    This may have already been done, but it's my first time seeing it. As such, great job with fabbing a buggy that is so maneuverable and looks like it is a ton of fun to drive without utterly destroying the play area. One suggestion - replace the tired powertrain with a diesel or small block to match the rest of the builds capability.

    What's the tire psi/ bar set to 90? Also though tires sound like they're over a 1000 rating. I'd be curious to know what psi he was running and if the tires are very hard for if they was any type of a sticky. Also what's the wheel bass and drive train information. Thanks

      Jim Giese the biggest issue I can see with it is not tire pressure, cuz u can see them smoosh a bit when they get pushed sideways in a turn or something but all the weight is on the rear axle! With no weight being put on the front you may as well just try it in two wheel drive! Ok it's not that bad but if it was put on scales it's probably 70% rear and 30% front. It's got some wicked potential tho!!

    • @smitty_1
      @smitty_1 6 лет назад

      Vance wanless, there are a lot of buggies set up this way with the weight ratio that are very capable Riggs. I ran those tires before they are unforgivably hard. Inner and outer beadlocks with 6 lb of air and they still suck . That buggy would have to weigh twice as much as it does to make them bulge and bite with only 8 to 10 pounds of air. That's just a bad tire choice for that rig. In the low gearing just makes it that much worse

      Moto Mas I'm so glad the 1st comment stated what I pooped down here to comment upon; I'm all supportive for new rigs + getting acclimated to new vehicle driving characteristics but if these blokes don't tackle geography such as that seen in this video by first airing the Michelin Pilots ( notoriously stiff walled mil-spec "tyres " ) way way down to minimum for nonbeadlocked (8-10psi) wheels it's too painful to watch or hear them shred the rubber on sharp ,igneous rocks ( like at 05:50min) like these. Cool little crawling rig, to be sure. But, air down, by-crackey!
