Well i thought the same but as someone mentioned below in comment section ; if they haven’t deleted this scene then the whole court thing and her performing at Hollywood and realising that they both actually fell in love wouldn’t have been so much fun to watch and obviously last closing scene where she tells him she will wait for him would not have made that same impact. So yes its been removed for the best but i am glad NETFLIX/unknown person has posted it so we can see this masterpiece as someone mentioned above💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I said the same thing to that this scene actually tied the court scene together better! It would’ve been a nice touch. I knew he felt a debt to her but it’s always better to hear it from the character
i actually think that it makes the Court Scene much more special, because it can be interpreted as a gesture of love. This "I owe you"-.scene makes it feel less impactful for me.
him taking responsibility in court still makes sense, he did it because one, he felt bad because her mother was almost hurt because of him and two, whether they had admitted or not yet, they loved each other, he loved her too much to see her suffer.
At the end of the book, Luke does recognize that Cassie was a good wife to him and is very grateful to her for putting up with him. I think the movie left out a lot of the struggles in their relationship, it didn't show Luke's Post Traumatic Stress, his nightmares and rumblings at night that kept Cassie awake late at night. It didn't show that Cassie was the one that had to carry his weight up the stairs (with her landlady) and he stepped on her foot a number of times. She also struggled to push his wheelchair during Frankie's funeral. They also left out that he peed on her living room floor and that the house reeked because of his sweaty body. He also went through a very dark period of depression, and was constantly craving pain killers. I believe Luke's dialogue here doesn't really pay off when he says "I owe you!" They made a sponge bath look really sexy and they have a mild political discussion over breakfast tacos that she got for them. What does he really owe her besides the fact that she allowed him to crash at her place and that she continued on with the fake marriage pretenses?
I didn’t know there was a book. I thought in the movie she was kinda mean. Like when he’s in a wheelchair and she’s saying, I’m not cooking for you. Yea, we get it, you’re a feminist….the guy is in a wheelchair. I don’t think I would ever treat an injured veteran, much less the guy that helped me get healthcare, which then enabled me to focus on my career more easily, so flippantly. Idk, she was the one that proposed the deal, then seemed angry he needed the money/had to benefit from it too. Then of course, he takes the entire blame…..idk, it would have been nice if they showed some of the scenes you mentioned from the book….would have made her less one dimensional.
@@anneb889 this comment is EVERYTHING! 🙌🏻 I personally think that both the film and the book has its special scenes that is just meant for the screen/pages. It's always fascinating to see deleted scenes from films, especially when they offer a glimpse into different aspects of the story or characters that didn't make it into the final cut. "Purple Hearts" must have had so many layers to explore, and it's exciting to think about how this particular scene adds to the overall narrative. Purple, as a color, often symbolizes passion and depth, which makes me curious about the emotional undertones of this scene. It's great that Netflix Philippines is sharing these additional pieces of the movie with fans! 🎥💜
I'm so in love with this movie! I don't know how many times I've seen it already...lol. the love between the characters was so tender & genuine. Even with the love scene, the way they physically connected...there was something already sincere about it...
I think no one would've minded if the movie was just 1:55 sec longer with this scene included because it really felt odd when he took up all the responsibility in the court and I told myself it's maybe cause he's feeling guilty for what happened with Cassie's mom but the reason was more deeper than that only💜💜
It didn't felt odd, actually makes perfect sense he took all the responsibility cause he didn't have nothing left to lose and she on the other hand had a bright future with all the record deals and her music career going up,
Hmmmmmm, Purple Heart, why are you doing this to me.....I have watched this movie for the umpteenth time but can't get enough and now this! 🆗 I am waiting for more.
This scene would work better without the "sometimes it doesn't even feel like an act." It's much more effective and impactful to show the changes in their relationship instead of telling. Great tender scene, but I can see why it was cut.
It's amazing how Nicholas has great chemistry with everyone, whether it's girls or guys. But tbh, I like the chemistry he has with Sophia more than with Anne, I feel it more natural and real.
The scene is cute but borderline cheesey and the "I owe you one" could have possibly weakened the surprise of Luke taking full responsibility for the marriage scam at the end. I think leaving it out was the better choice. Plus, all arrows pointed to Luke regarding the scam being revealed to the military. Good to see him man up.
They really should have kept some parts from the book, like PTSD,nightmares, depression, addiction, but thank God they didn't keep Cassie's boyfriend. If you think that Luke and Cassie's love story feels a little bit rushed, imagine the fact she had a boyfriend since the beginning till the moment Luke went to court and the fact she was really into the other guy. The sex scene with Luke would be so out of the place(the day after that she started thinking of making it official with the other guy).At least at the movie they had a crush on each other since the beginning and it was growing till the end. Also the fact that no one cared about him having a bath or a shower for months wasn't realistic. He was meeting his family,he was going to physiotherapy. Come on! The movie was better.

Opinions, Religions, Sexuality, and Beliefs have no place in a relationship and if that's what your friends, your family, and you love is based on you yourself need to review. Are you willing to throw everything away with one person (or even multiple) because your not okay with them doing what they think is right? The same thing you are doing.
