Total power of a microscope is calculated by multiplying the power of eye piece with the power of objective lens. In this question we have the power of eye piece (10X) and we need to find the power of objective lens, the total resolving power of Microscope is 40x. So we will divide the total power (40x) by eye piece (10x) to get the result.
