I have no words to say, but thanks to the record and for them keep this movie for all the lovers of J.b. and J.w, who we loved from Korea since 1980s .
I never had the privilege of meeting Andreas Segovia, but I was very fortunate enough to meet his best students, John, and Julian, and to study with a few of his many other students. I will never forget these two amazing performer/teachers. God bless!
I remember years ago the B.B.C. put Bream and Williams on quite regularly on a late night slot........As a teenager I was into Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, but even though I did not fully understand the intricacies and nuances of the music they played, I never missed an episode.
It is impossible for me to find greater sound than the sound of the classical guitar.Bream and Williams are like the Great Titans of Greek Mythology.Masters!!
They are certainly two of the most accomplished and talented musicians I have heard in the longest time. Their nuances and mastery is simply awe inspiring, like a gentle but firm waterfall set against a pink dusk.
To watch these two play together and see their pure joy at the shared mastery of the art is magnificent. Watch them play the spanish dance no 1 from la vida breve as well. Simply incredible.
Two of the world's greatest classical guitarists and a fantastic peice of music. Debussy would have been bowled over. Pure Heaven, Makes me sigh all my cares away. Thank you so much for posting. :-)
could not agree with you more baird , it is this sublime representation of human endeavor and the poetic majesty of the notes and sounds , that make every moment of every day beautiful and precious .
Me he quedado sin palabras, mudo, se me escarpeló el cuerpo entero, me emocioné mucho, es hermoso, no exagero, es uno de los placeres mas hermosos en el mundo.. bello!! Bravo!!
Two guitars is such a good combination. In solo guitar, arrangements of piano music are often very difficult because you have to make awkward compromises just to cover the notes. The extra pair of hands just gives both players room to really flesh out their parts.
Since a guitarist can only use one hand to play notes, this levels the playing field. So not really an extra pair of hands. Just one hand plus one extra hand. I know you're not saying it's "unfair", but there are some people who probably think it is.
Same here I would give my soul to have these two wonderful humans playing their guitars next door to me all the time no body comes this close to being as good as these two on classical guitars I am currently looking for a classical guitar teacher in Adelaide as I am laid up with a broken leg and all I want to do is play my very expensive classical guitar but I really need a teacher who can teach me scales technique chords and a refresher on written music and I will be a very happy monkey I have the melody to clair de lune on the classical guitar but everything else is really lacking and it has my heart emotionally possessed and it keeps some of the pain away with my broken leg and it keeps my mind off other stuff that I just don't need to be thinking about right now.
@@merranthompson9096 i hope u have found a teacher by now but if not, there's multiple online courses, both paid (like Arpeggiato and the Woodshed Program by classical guitar shed) and free, that can help u on your journey on becoming a classical musician.
Two of my favorite classical guitar players of all time--they epitomize all the aspects of the instrument-taste, tone and control but most of all the "soul" of the instrument--their single minded performance on this piece is matchless
Sempre me emociono ao ouvir Clair de Lune, mas com esse duo de violão, a música me atravessa de tal modo que parece fazer morada em mim. Muito obrigado! Congratulations!
this is quite simply astonishing, it is a piece of genuine and startling genius from ALL involved.Such heartfelt precision. Such amazing balance btwn maths, harmony, melody, emotion . . . . if we can achieve this, then we can do anything. This is surely a miracle. The only thing to watch/listen to on RUclips.
John Williams inspired me to learn Clair de Lune on the piano. I struck the first key on April 18, 2017 and finished learning the last measure on September 25. I continually listened to Mr. Williams' guitar version and thank him for all he did to teach me....even though it's on piano.
I've always been fascinated with how they ended the piece. It is written and almost always played with an eight-note arpeggio. That would be possible to do with two guitars, but Bream chose not to. Williams plays his four notes, but Bream plays a single note, which according to the score, should be the last. However, Julian plays it in the middle of John's arpeggio. This gives it a haunting quality that is quite different from the beautiful, though rather predictable traditional ending. I wonder if he did that on purpose. For me, the effect is mesmerizing.
This is the first time I find this two living legends of the guitar playing together. But I was surprised the most for the theme chosen by them. I really love it. I can´t spect less from two of the most brilliant pupils of Mr. Andres Segovia.
To hear more search for Julian and John together. I first heard these two legends in the early 1970's. In Spain they are regarded as in the elite of classical guitarists.
Beautiful! Julian Bream stays one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He has scuh a recogizible tone and 'colour'. They both transcribed this play very good from piano to guitar.
i read somewhere "julian bream and john williams duo" so i say to myself. I must see that!! i get to youtube and find them doing one of my favorite piano pieces!!!!! this video truly made my day!
Oh how utterly lovely... For me this is hauntingly beautiful, and as it finished I have a wistful smile plays about my face... John Williams Maestro of the guitar and a sublime player... *sighs deeply and relax* Pure bliss... :0)x
Os heróis da minha adolescência Tenho ainda um vinil do Julian e trago na memória a interpretação magistral de John Willians no Concerto de Aranjues . Amém
Quite possibly the best classical guitarist in the world. I've always wanted to see John Williams the composer team up with John Williams the guitarist. It would be interesting to see what they came up with.
This is just utterly exquisite, and very moving, hauntingly beautiful and the superb playing and harmonies created by this two Maestros is just beyond compare... I loved it.. I have never heard 'Claire de Lune' played as a duet, or even on guitar before.. My other favorite rendition of this piece is by Victor Borge, he is sublime too.. Many thanks @kohjeong, for posting this wonder.. My very best regards and wishes to you from Wales .. :0)x *sighs and hits replay once more*.. :0)x
There are so many great guitarists of many genres, living and passed on, and we can enjoy many of them on You Tube. There is something so soothing about music like this played on a guitar. Please don't compare Jimmy Hendrix to Sabicas or Chet Atkins to Pepe Romero, they are/were all masters
I shall compare to others whomever I please. This does not mean that one is less a master than the other. I can compare the emotions that emerge when listening to Little Wing to those emotions that emerge when listening to Cavatina. But restricting comparisons is restricting exploration and compartmentalizing music when in fact comparison often leads to new genres. What then is rythm and blues but a merging of two genres? What is rock and roll but a merging of several genres?
Always an obstinate stinker in every bunch. A contrary ne'er do well who insists on pissing contests and one-up-man-ship. A, would be, devil's advocate, ridiculously trying to correct a perfectly fine statement, out of sheer spite and jealous envy. A contrarian who simply cannot abide someone else having a valid point. A narcissistic nancy-boy. A curmudgeon. A bitter old coot. A real pisser. A pathetic dawdler. A grimy-faced toddler. ...and yet let's have ourselves a look... shall we? Whose sentiment is being universally accepted as the mature one and whose is being taken for what it is, and ignored? Your attempt to upstage and contradict the Original Poster... was, on the whole, a complete failure. A disaster. Now run along and fetch some oxygen to your brain. There's the lad.
JustMe omfg xD Thank you so much! That was literally the most legitimately well spoken analysis of the personality type that is conveyed through the exchange of words in comments, such as the one right above yours, by people who feel it necessary to impose an input that satisfies their own deluded need for a sense of superior intellectual uniqueness. The way you put it into words, I think it could easily be regarded as an ultimate universal truth xD I had one of the best laughs that I've laughed in quite a while. Kudos to you my good man. I tip my hat to you sir! Lol
I am amazed. When I saw your video was one featuring this beautiful song on guitars, I almost clicked it off - thinking as I did that only a piano could make the grade. Amazing amazing amazing... you allowed the beauty of the song to be heard. Thank you - truly wonderful and talented performance of my favorite song.
I don't understand why they gave you a thumbs down....2 actually. You made a good point. I play in guitar quartets but the 4 of us chose to memorize our pieces.
Never heard this on guitar, then again I've not heard it on flute or violin before either! Thank you so much for posting this! I need to discover more of this John Williams' guitar performances. I have his Plays the Movies CD, where he plays the composer John Williams (they are NOT the same person!) Schindler's List and other works. This is so pure, so lovely!
I have no words to say, but thanks to the record and for them keep this movie for all the lovers of J.b. and J.w, who we loved from Korea since 1980s .
Wow! 2 seasoned musicians combining their talents to produce a God-like rendition of this beautiful song. BRAVO!!
I never had the privilege of meeting Andreas Segovia, but I was very fortunate enough to meet his best students, John, and Julian, and to study with a few of his many other students. I will never forget these two amazing performer/teachers. God bless!
Two true masters performing a masterpiece by another master.
this must be the gazillonth time I've watched and listened to this video...it is beautiful!
I remember years ago the B.B.C. put Bream and Williams on quite regularly on a late night slot........As a teenager I was into Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, but even though I did not fully understand the intricacies and nuances of the music they played, I never missed an episode.

Los dos Grandes Genios de la guitarra, juntos.
Gracias.
They are certainly two of the most accomplished and talented musicians I have heard in the longest time. Their nuances and mastery is simply awe inspiring, like a gentle but firm waterfall set against a pink dusk.
Chopin once famously said: "Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, save perhaps two"
Paulo Coelho once famously said: "Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, save perhaps two"
And of course Engelbert Humperdinck and TEN guitars ;)
Hmm concur
With the Metheny profile pic NICE!
That's arguable
This is one of those melodies that one never gets tired of , just exquisite!!
To watch these two play together and see their pure joy at the shared mastery of the art is magnificent.

It's a perfect performance of a perfect melody... I can spend my time listening to it over and over again... .)

Bravo!!
Incomparably sublime. The guitar's special feature is harmonics. I heard the "rolling" river, and "saw" the moon traversed by racing cloud.
When Julian and John play together,
you dont sum their talents but multiply them.

I always wished for neighbors like this.., i would never close my windows :) 💕
inwonderwoman You really don't know whats a musician studying... hahahah
Suellio Almeida It's like 20% Scales, 50% Swearing and 30% music HAHAHAHAHAHA
30% might be a bit high :D

Absolutely loved it! 💗💗💗
the most sublime piece of music ever written, and the pinnacle of composition imo.
Two of my favorite classical guitar players of all time--they epitomize all the aspects of the instrument-taste, tone and control but most of all the "soul" of the instrument--their single minded performance on this piece is matchless
Beautiful. Just shut your eyes and listen. Then replay and watch the technique. From a keyboard player who loves Debussy - Beautiful!
Thanks.

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing ❤ love you ❤❤❤❤❤
Great touching composition and it sure doesn't hurt to have two masters of the guitar playing it.
The chords are as soft as an evening fall breeze. These men are to be admired.
Sempre me emociono ao ouvir Clair de Lune, mas com esse duo de violão, a música me atravessa de tal modo que parece fazer morada em mim.

Pure class, Truly beautiful. I could listen to these great musicians all day.

Absolutely beautiful. A great rendition that lives up to the original.
I've seen John Williams live in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. Absolutely astonishing.
My favorite version of this beautiful piece.
