- Testing Grand Theft Auto V with Intel Iris XE Graphics in the Intel Core i5-1235U processor.
This test was conducted with a dual-channel memory 16GB DDR4-3200 memory configuration - lower amounts of RAM, single channel RAM or DDR4-2666 memory configurations may result in heavily degraded performance or the game failing to start at all.
This test was run with the Steam version of the game on a Dell Inspiron 16-5620 laptop.
System Specifications:

Thanks for the video. It seems more like the ps3/x360 version of the game as far as i can tell. Changing the subject how's the battery performance on your 12th gen intel inspiron?
You're probably right there, although thought the original console releases ran at 720p or lower?

I figured Iris wouldn't be great at games. Got my laptop for school + programming. Figured Iris XE would be an upgrade compared to before it existed. Got mine with 16GB DDR4 3200, 256GB M.2., Win 11, upgraded the screen quality to touchscreen with BrightView. $629. My Desktop is 100x better so I didn't see the reason to upgrade to the i7 for $200 more. Plan on upgrading the storage for a lot cheaper down the road if needed.
Iris wouldn't be great at games:
I'm using a 13 Gen i5 1335U with 4GB Intel Iris Xe and 8GB LPDDR5 5200Mhz. I tried to run Just Cause 3 on it and it worked really nice. On high settings with 1920x1200 because it's a 16:10 Laptop I got an average of above 60 like 65~70 fps and the game run without any lag. But in both win10 and win11 ever after reinstalling the game I got a problem that said, "There's an infinite loop in the GPU" and I just deleted Just Cause 3. Is this the setup problem or the GPU isn't that powerful to handle JC3.
And one of my game friend told me that Just Cause 3 is way more powerful game than GTA V, I haven't tried GTA V in my Laptop yet. What do you think will GTA V perform better in my Laptop? Please must reply 🙏🏻

without graphics card your screen will be blank, no matter if you try playing or tryin to run windows desktop
I figure in another 10 years or so Intel will have caught up enough to warrant 60 plus in most games at 720P or so. I will say on my laptop I was able to play Watch Dogs at 720P ultra Textures Medium graphical quality at 43 to 60, If I drop the Graphical quality to low but keep ultra textures I can get over 50 most of the time. So this little chip is basically a 720P 35 to 60fps most games, basically a PS3 in terms of performance levels

Of the two, probably the i5-1235U.
Ryzen 5 5500U, 5600U and 5625U are also worth a look.

Mmm, not bad, I don't expect windows from Intel Xe graphics. But if you remember that this chip runs around 15Watt locked or 25Watt unlocked. A PS3 would run a lot warmer and us a lot more power. So it isn't bad.
It will play light games if you don't raise the settings to high. Welcome to a world of pixels.
But, the good thing is, in the world of VIDEO it supports everything.
