This shows the importance of being fit, every one of these clubs and shafts were pretty different for his swing. That's what makes this so interesting.
I think 92-94 mph clubhead is very realistic for many golfers. But the 4 hybrids... distance is not the major factor i think. I would look at this like a long iron...and look at landing angle, height and spin.
Great video guys, the Cobra Darkspeed looks fantastic and appears to be one of the lower launching and lower spinning hybrids out there so the 17 degree model could potentially be a missile launcher which would provide a more forgiving alternative to a driving iron or long iron as a fairway finder off the tee, so what are your thoughts?
It's all about the distance from the club, not necessarily the loft. Whatever fills the yardage gap appropriately between your 3-wood and 5-iron. My initial instinct would be about 19 degrees, but you would have to hit it some to confirm. Ideally, you'd want a distance gap of about 15 carry yards between your 5-iron to your hybrid, and then 15-20 yards from your hybrid to your 3-wood (may change depending on your ball flight and how far you hit the ball).
A sleeper is the jpx hot metal fli hi. Iron length and you can get it in steel to match your other irons. All at a bargain price. For me it gaps better and does a better job then hybrids I have had more then double the price. The lie angles are adjustable with a loft and lie machine which I feel keeps the integrity of the club better. Hardly anyone is aware of this hybrid. I have never seen one in a shop!
whoa! thanks for the introduction. wood club faces make more sense to my mind than the trapezoidal iron faces - and these clubs look like they fit the bill. Thanks!!
Kevin is styling today. Hybrids. I dumped the long irons for a 2019 Big Bertha Hybrid 3 & 5. Just easier to hit for a discriminating and 20+ handicapper golfer. In my prime 20 years ago I went to a 7 wood Heaven Wood Warbird and it became my favorite club. A easy 220 every time but now older and slower. Boo hoo.
And that Heavenwood was a steel too. Best carry I got out of it was over 280. And yes that was a a vicious cut at the ball. Had a 127 swing speed then.
To be clear, if you’re looking at cobra for a 3 hyb, you need to get a 4 hyb. They’re incredible hot. Amazing hybrids. But you have to go up a whole club to offset the ball speed and launch 😂
I'm kinda disappointed Cobra did away with the rails. I always thought that was a huge benefit to the club. I hope they introduce a new Cobra Tec with shallow rails. Put some tungsten in the rails if needed to keep weight low.
It doesn't help to have Kevin hit these hybrids. He's not typical of 90 percent of your viewers, who probably have driver swings under 100 mph. I'd rather see somebody hit the hybrids who actually would be a user, and somebody who swings the hybrid at 80 mph or less.
@@enzy6434how do we know which ones are more forgiving if the dude hitting them never misses the sweet spot? I guess only golfers who swing fast are consistent???
We get this feedback a lot, and we totally understand it. We like having Kevin do the testing because he's as knowledgeable as they come on the clubs and he'll put some somewhat consistent swings on the ball so we can get some reliable info in a small amount of swings for the time frame we have to film. Also of note, Kevin does play two hybrids in his bag.

Exactly!! Always fascinating to see the differences the clubhead or shaft can play
The Mizuno ST Max hybrid also has an adjustable loft which is a huge plus!
I bought the AI smoke 6 and 7 hybrid and they’re my favorite clubs in the bag hands down!
Love that!!
Got an AI smoke 5H arriving tomorrow. Can't WAIT to take it out to the range.
2:28 - 2:38 normally hear this from my girlfriends, not 2ndswing!
That’s brilliant! 😂

Agreed! Could easily be a 3-wood replacement of sorts if you wanted a smaller clubhead without sacrificing a ton of that distance. - Drew
What’s the rule of thumb for degree of loft on a hybrid if my 3 wood is 15 degrees and irons start at 5 , 22 degrees of loft. (Ping G430 irons).

Sheesh, that is some speed!
Man I really like that dark speed
You're not the only one!
The dark speed seemed to be a club down, why not use a 4 hybrid, so they go the same distance, because you would do that if you were gapping your bag.

Why wasn’t the titleist, ping, srixon included?
Yes, agree. I use Ping hybrids and really love them. They work for me.
So what have you seen out of these so far, Kevin?
They are good clubs and very very expensive.

Was an iconic design for sure. Still a few Cobra models on the market with the Rails in the design
it would be nice if you hit every club with the same shaft so we can see the true differences.
Agreed, that would be nice!! Unfortunately we don't have the tools to make that happen, as each hybrid as different stock and premium shaft offerings.
Mizuno St is designed for Japanese courses😀
If you're not 5'5" like Ricky Fowler cobra is not for you😄
Ping G430
Where's the PING 3-hybrid?!?!
We tried to keep this one focused on hybrids released in 2024...PING G430 was released last year

No. You need someone with a CONSISTENT and repeatable swing, otherwise tests like this are completely pointless. Get out of here with that crap.

He says several times that he uses a 4 hybrid
I swing the driver over 110 but I use a 4H bc it’s easier and more forgiving than a 4i
