The old guy showing me how to ride the 49 Panhead was 86 years old and was still able to ride his 45 EL Knuclehead. I'll be heading up the mountain this May for his 90th birthday party and yes he's still planning on kicking the old girl over and riding with my other buddy and I on the 31 V and my 42 FL.
I'm running behind on this video post but have to advise that we lost Frank earlier this year (2013) at the age of 93. Sad, yes it is, but Frank will always be a legend in my eyes. A World War 2 Marine Vet, that man had multiple old Harleys and a memory that blew us all away. Stories that were so cool from days we'll never know. Frank my friend, you taught me how to ride an old Harley, road next to me on your 1945 Knuk after I got my Knuk and made me laugh many times over. Ride forever my pal.
She's hard to get started She's always so cold In the mornings I find her - She's looking so old There's so many miles I've been down that road once or twice She's not much to look at When we ride through town But I know when the chips fall She won't let me down She knows how to run And she don't run around on her man She's a high flying lady She takes me where I want to be There's no other woman Standing between her and me I'll always be faithful And keep her 'til the end of time God knows I'll always love That old Panhead of mine I've seen fancy dressers And they've caught my eye I rode'em to ride'em Then I told them goodbye I flirted with Low Riders Sportsters and Shovelheads too I've cussed her and beat her And kicked her to just get her started A couple of times You might think I'm crazy But I love that Panhead of mine. She's a high flying lady She takes me where I want to be There's no other woman Standing between her and me I'll always be faithful And keep her 'til the end of time God knows I'll always love That old Panhead of mine God knows I'll always love That old Panhead of mine God knows I'll always love
The 1949 and 1945 go up for sale March 14th 2019 at the Mecum Auction showing as the Buddy STUBBS HARLEY Davidson collection. I’m sad like you wouldn’t believe.
May 18th was Franks birthday, he was 90 years old. I video taped him starting my 42 Knuckle and my buddies 31. He would have started his 45 Knuck if he had a good battery.......
Thanks for the comment. That video was taken back in 2005 but Ole' Frank is still kick'n at 90 years old. His birthday is coming up May 18th and he'll be 91. He's still riding that old 1945 EL Knuckle you see in the video......Just an adder, that Terry Tate video was great, i had to add that to my favorites....Good ride'n to you.
Good old Frank passed away at 93 years old. It’s been a few years now. His 1945 Knucklehead sold at the Mecum Auction last year for about $93k, the 1949 pan head sold for about $35k at the same auction. It was heartbreaking to see them sell.
Blake, is that your 64 F100? I had a 70 F100 short bed 4x4. I’ll be mad until the day I died for selling that truck....If that’s your truck I wish you luck on the reconstruction.

You have to listen to the old guys while they are still around, they have forgotten more than most of us will ever know.
Make me cry..such a joy of LIFE ✝️

Condolences
I have a 42 Knucklehead and I COMPLETELY understand...Ha Ha. Nothing like cleaning up oil off the floor after she sits for a while.
wow what a joy that must of been ,thank you for the great vid ,its one to cherish
She's hard to get started
She's always so cold
In the mornings I find her -
She's looking so old
There's so many miles
I've been down that road once or twice
She's not much to look at
When we ride through town
But I know when the chips fall
She won't let me down
She knows how to run
And she don't run around on her man
She's a high flying lady
She takes me where I want to be
There's no other woman
Standing between her and me
I'll always be faithful
And keep her 'til the end of time
God knows I'll always love
That old Panhead of mine
I've seen fancy dressers
And they've caught my eye
I rode'em to ride'em
Then I told them goodbye
I flirted with Low Riders
Sportsters and Shovelheads too
I've cussed her and beat her
And kicked her to just get her started
A couple of times
You might think I'm crazy
But I love that Panhead of mine.
She's a high flying lady
She takes me where I want to be
There's no other woman
Standing between her and me
I'll always be faithful
And keep her 'til the end of time
God knows I'll always love
That old Panhead of mine
God knows I'll always love
That old Panhead of mine
God knows I'll always love
live to ride ..... ride to live !!!

specialed1942 yes it was I traded it off back last year... I’m always resurrecting old vehicles to keep them in the road
