6-8 months for me. I'm very low maintenance and people around me HATE it and keep trying to tell me how to do my hair 😂 and I'm like I don't care. Why is my hair hurting you?😂
Yannie, I just listened to your 3 year old video regarding “Healthy Locs Mind & Body Regiment”. I NEEDED THIS because I was considering cutting my (12 year old) Locs before listening to your encouraging video. Continue doing the fantastic work educating so many people like myself. We also enjoy all the humor too😂. Please don’t be discouraged by the haters or thin skinned people. So many people need your raw wisdom and years of knowledge….NO SUGAR COATING, REAL TRUTH! I’ve been so blessed listening to a few of your videos this afternoon. Be Blessed!!!🙏🏽💜
Yannie i just want to think you for the time and energy that you put into this Loc content. My wife and I appreciate everything you do. We are more into the health of our Crowns more than ever before.
1 year is the longest I’ve waited. I learned from the best (you). I started following you when I first started my loc journey and the one thing I learned was to leave my hair alone. Fast forward it’s been five years and my hair is to the middle of my back.
My hair grows away from my locs and as of today, it's been 5 months since my last re-twist (I have been super busy!). So, I have a mini afro with locs growing out...yikes! This has been the longest in-between for me. Fly high! US Air Force vet here!
Hey Yannie. The longest time before a re-twist for me is 5-6 months now. Before coming across your content, I was getting a re-twist once a month. Thank you for sharing your knowledge : )
My wife saw your videos in 2015 and started my loc journey. She is the only one who ever touched my hair. It’s healthy n strong and I’m grateful to you sista. Respek
Today is my anniversary, its been 1 year 🎉. I would usually do it once a month since my new growth grows away from my locs and I honestly didn't know how to deal with it but the longest I went was 8 weeks and it was really great. So I'm going to stretch them out a lil more. Hailing from 🇹🇹🇹🇹 Your videos have helped me alot. Thank you ❤
I've been loc'd since 2014. I've maintained my own locs 95% of the time. I used to retwist my hair every 4 weeks. Since watching your videos earlier this year. I've gone two months without retwisting. I noticed thinning at my roots and watched your videos and ever since I've noticed a difference since I've taken a break from retwisting so often! Thank you Ms. Yannie!
11/2 years. Let me explain. Before I found Yanni. I was 1 of those that got their hair done every 2 months I was put under the dryer, products were used in my hair as well I have always had natural hair not very thick but long and when I decided to lock I was introduced to this beautician and let her do my hair I had been locked for 6 years when I found Yanni and listening to her and inspecting my hair I found every single thing that she said DON'T do I was doing so I stopped immediately I had the classic parking lot parts that Yanni talks about so I have been following her advice and that is why it has been 11/2 years since I had it done I tried once to do it myself and that didn't go well, So since then I just keep pulling them apart, keep them oiled and wash every 6 months and I LOVE IT it is slowly growing back and 1 day I want to see Yanni before any one else touches my hair They are down to my butt and healthy THANK YOU YANNI!!
8 months at the start of the pandemic..scissors had to be involved. Usually every 4th month. So when I saw you and Jimmy on that guys head pulling his apart..brought back memories.whew
I haven't retwisted my hair since you first did it 2021! I just keep it clean and separated until I get the opportunity to see you again. I don't trust anyone else to do my hair!
Greetings. How do you separate your hair? My hair only has to be plaited for 5-6 weeks and the locs start to meld. I would love to just separate and neaten my locs without the need for retwisting. My hair is thin at the roots. Many thanks
I am 58 years old and will have locs for the first time in my life in January. I have been reading and looking at all the material so that my journey with locs is as successful as possible. PS, I retired from the Army. 💪🏾🇺🇸
Wow for once comments are open.. Just wanted to say thank you so much for the great knowledge you've given to & also please turn up the volume on your videos 🙏 ROUGHLY EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR ME
I do once a quarter! So every 3-4 months. I started doing this after I hit a year locked to just let my scalp breathe and let my locs stay thick. I love letting it be disrespectful and full I feel like myself when I do that
I started my own locs in February and I maintain them myself. I retwist them every 3-4 months. At first it was because I was being lazy and didn’t feel like it but then I was like oh wait I like the way it looks. As of today it’s been about 5 months since the last time and I still haven’t retwisted it. I do the bare minimum to them and just let them do their own thing.
I wanted to go long periods of time, but I’ve experienced thinning and weakening. I was doing better when I went once a month so I’m going to back to that
It will be three months next week that I have not had a retwist on my starter locs. This is my first and last journey and I want a healthy scalp and hair. I hope to be able to become a regular client of yours after I get through this first year of being loc’d.❤
The longest time it was after around 9 months, usually every 6 or 7 months done by myself. My philosophy is the longer you wait until getting your locs done, the later you will do it the next time. I prefer to prolong it because it takes me 2 or 3 days, and I suffer from lower back pain due to having my arms raised during hours while I crochet the new growth.
I have been loc'd since 2017 & interlock every 4-months or so. Sometimes, I don't interlock for 6-7 months; 8-months has been the longest. I'm a New Yorker, but live in Europe, retired Air Force, been following Yannie's advice since 2016 and rll, like my locs, remain completely disrespectful! 🫡😇😘
I went the summer of 2018 without twisting my locs. It reset my thinking and love for my hair. When my hair was first loc in 2006, the person put smaller locs on the top/front of my hair than the back. I wish they didn't. I have always wondered if there is a way to combine them so the top and front are more hearty. Any advice? I stopped dying my locs in 2019 when the grey/ white became impossible to keep up with. My hair is so much more healthy without the dye! It helps to leave it alone, but they are skinny, and I have just had to accept it. I have cut my locs many times so it does not weigh down the locs at the top of my head, but the base of the locs are small. Any suggestions are appreciated.
The longest I've ever gone between twists is 6 months. I started them myself. I started going to get it done but I'm back to caring for my hair myself.
Hi Yannie. The longest for me has 5 months and that was this year (29 March until 31 August when I had it done). Planning to push to 6 months next. Lots of love from Kenya 🇰🇪 ❤🎉
The longest I left my locs with out getting a retwist was 3 1/2 months. I had to stop doing that because my roots started to get thicker and disrespectful. It started to look like I was Freeforming ,so I get them done once a month now.
Hello Yannie, I need your help. I have been locked for 4 months now. It’s been a journey. The person that did my starter locs lied to me 😂. I had to learn the hard way. I am a CMA. I have to look the part. After watching your videos, omg. I sincerely need your help. I will call for an appointment with you and Jimmy when you return back to New Jersey. I have lumps all over my head. ❤
Thanks again for a great video! I have medium to large Sisterlocs and based off of your knowledge do you think combining would benefit me in the future? I have fine, low density hair! Also if I combine would you accept me as a new client? I know you maintain more larger Locs so I’m curious
So am I supposed to let my locs air dry? I notice how short my locs are when I get it done by my loctician. When I wash them at home, I would oil my scalp after washing and wrap it in a cotton t-shirt. Depending on how early/late it is, I will leave it like that for a few days. Or I will sit under the dryer after it's been wrapped at least 5 hours to soak up as much water as possible. Sit under my dryer(not an efficient one) for about 30 mins. Squeeze a little shea butter throughout the length for shine and then put a loc tube on it. My only products are shampoo, conditioner for the ends(rinse out), hollywood hair oil(shampoo and conditioner from same line), and shea butter. I hardly ever retwist because it takes me too long, and my arms and fingers(arthritis) can't do it too long. I wash once or twice a month, depending on how much I sweat. I style them in the rope twist when I want to "change it up" and wear it that way for a few weeks. My hair loves twist and I noticed how long my locs are by doing it myself. How do you wrap your locs? Mine being different lengths(my hair naturally grows uneven) makes it hard to bun it or fold it.
6-8 months for me. I'm very low maintenance and people around me HATE it and keep trying to tell me how to do my hair 😂 and I'm like I don't care. Why is my hair hurting you?😂

To be honest, I usually do my hair every 2 to 3 months. Mainly for work, but also because I'm working on being more low maintenance.
That's the time I recommend for average clients. Nothing less than 3 months so you're doing good love. 👍 keep up the good work
Beautiful client and beautiful locs
5 months because I found your videos before I decided to loc my hair. Thank you!

Hello Yanni, so far I'm going on 6 months. I love the disrespectful look. I'm more into the authentic look, thank you for the wisdom you teach
Yannie, thank you for answering my text and DM😜 You're the GOAT❤
I get mines done every 4-5 months.
I love the disrespectful look.

Increased volume is a must!

Thanks for your vlog concerning thin healthy locs really helpful 😊. Loc'd for 10 years and it's been over two years getting retwist
Use to do it every 3months but I'm on my way to almost a year without doing it. Love from Ghana 🇬🇭
7 months here. Loved the new growth. So disrespectful 💯🔒✊🏾
I started my own locs in February and I maintain them myself. I retwist them every 3-4 months. I do mine every 3-6 months, depending on how much of my hair is trying to grow away from my locs or into other locs.
I wanted to go long periods of time, but I’ve experienced thinning and weakening. I was doing better when I went once a month so I’m going to back to that

I 've had my locs for 5 years and I just retwisted after 8 months 🌷🙏
Every 3 months, for about 1 year now. Thanks to Yannie 🙌🏾 Your GA client 😃

8 months and I loved it.
2-3 months mainly for appearance. My hair is in the teenage stage. So as my retwist unravels or grows out it is more noticeable.
Loving the back to back videos
I have microlics and extremely disrespectful hair so I do my maintenance once every 4-6 months bc it’s thickkkkkk!

For those that go months, what’s your care routine like between visits?

This is the longest ive gone, two months and some days now. I am new to the loc game and I am pushing myself to go to three months.
Im in my first year and have microlocs. I usually do mine every 6 weeks. That's when I notice it turning into a fro ball
Beautiful hair

I get a retwist every three months. I’ve been locked since June 2020.
I retwist every 6 months
I get my locs done every two months
1st set 3-6 months but this 2nd set definitely wanna go longer
Thanks again for a great video! I have medium to large Sisterlocs and based off of your knowledge do you think combining would benefit me in the future? I have fine, low density hair! Also if I combine would you accept me as a new client? I know you maintain more larger Locs so I’m curious
Longest was 5 months usually every 3 or 4 months
I get it done every 3 month, but 4 months was my longest. I want to get to every six months and eventually a year.
I get my hair done once a month!
Any tips for starter locs? I'm talking former waver turned locs... like 4 inches of hair?
So am I supposed to let my locs air dry? I notice how short my locs are when I get it done by my loctician. I retwist every 6 to 8 weeks. But I really try to stay with a 6 week routine
Normally I would retwist my hair every three to four months but after I had surgery I waited 8 months before I retwisted my hair again
Is this a retwist or did you interlock her hair?
11 months. 🙂
I’m just starting locs but I waited almost 4 months before the 1st retwist.
Nooooo I won't be in Georgia until the 25th 😔
