  • All of my live coverage from Oakland Ballers Opening Day at Raimondi Park.
The Ballers raced to convert an unplayable field -- even for little league standards -- into a Pioneer League Baseball stadium that holds 4,100 fans. The Home Opener was sold out despite the Oakland A's also playing a game across town and the vibes were immaculate.
I caught up with Ballers Bench Coach JT Snow, Ballers Pitcher Kelsie Whitmore, Ballers Outfielder Austin Davis, and Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao.

Seems weird that the owners of the Ballers also own the rival Yolo High Wheelers. Maybe the Pioneer League required another California team before they would expand their intermountain region footprint. If this works out maybe try to get a California League franchise those stadiums like San Jose and Stockton seat about 5,000.

Couldn’t have an odd number of teams. So they formed 2 to get Oakland ready in time and will grow and hopefully pass off the other team when it’s established.
