D&B really lost its raw sound. Now it's all polished with bright synths and tons of layers and just sounds like trance and other shitty techno. D&B could really use a stripping down to its base elements.
5 years on from your comment and couldn't agree more. Haven't heard a decent tune in about 8 years. Nobody samples old records anymore. Utah Jazz's first album was in my opinion the best liquid funk album of all time, now he doesn't use any samples, just the same bog standard synth leads and pads that everyone else is using and mastered to death so it sounds too clean.
First of all dnb supposed to be dnb. There are many of dnb styles. It's just like metal: not all metal bands are black and not every metal song about devil.
@@Pupenhausen there still are decent tunes out there, you just have to look properly :) check Tommy Holohan - The Wheat From The Chaff, Special Request - Spectral Frequency, Digital & Need For Mirrors - Infinity, Seba & Paradox - Love or Death, Homemade Weapons - Sweet Nothing , Acid Lab - Roots People , Phuture T - Cold Sweat . let me know if you like anyone of the above :)

@crestfaIIen Yes, it really is music. You know, everyday ambiance does inspire musicians and artists in general, even if it is a "vacuum cleaner" (note, look up the Roland Alpha Juno's Hoover sound), or even a "power drill" (any sort of distorted bassline, or guitar even, really). You'd be dumb not to realize that the sound waves of everyday life is in fact art itself.
@FlexPuke420 its funny that you bring this up (i didn't read the reply you are replying to) but "One is the loneliest number" was inspired by the dial tone of a phone, so yes any sound of everyday life can be an inspiration for music
i could kill myself to this song and come back to life it makes my heart race so hard... i FUCKING LOVE THIS GODDAMN SONNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK FOR THE UPLOAD
Сквозь десятилетия ещё находятся олды, помнящие какое мясо раньше было. Дарк сайд - самый брутальный жанр музыки за всё её существование, на фоне которого металл выглядит как романсовые баллады.
theres still loads of sick tunes man u been listening to radio 1 too much? yes i agree all the mainstream commercial wank is what u describe. plus techno is pretty sick itself.
@crestfallen - the only acceptable definition of music for me is 'Humanly organised sound'. So you can do what you want with any form of sound/noise/instrument that you want. Even better, somebody will have probably developed a form of notation for it! Check out some musique concrète for starters, then use your imagination as to why we have the musical styles and sounds that we have today.
tech itch was the sickest...but every giant star comes to a quick death with a supernova :) i think penetration was the nova. No hes just a pulsar that makes some medium dubstep/dnb
Brosteppers are not interested in music. In 5 years none of them will still listen to music whatsoever. Instead they will tell their kids what a cool dude their dad used to be back in 2010, because he listened to Skrillex. Hopefully their kids will realize how lame brostep really was...
Nowadays, people are even ashamed to say they used to and/or still listen to Skrillex. In my case, however, it's Electro House. I myself am a House music fan, but holy shit, is modern Electro House garbage.
@capableSOUL1 Current value went completely bollocks into his machine code military step sound. Maybe some futuristic shit that only his hard core fans can gid, personally me..i stick with CV's old stuff like Deep digger, Into the light, Dropping etc. 2012 was pretty decent, but his later stuff hmm... I suggest the corny compilations of Therapy Session to all the kids who just found these artists. Russian Pirate Station is a good place to look for the best stuff there is too.
@capableSOUL1 sorry i've been into this music 6 - 7 years deep, so i know my stuff. Current calue, tech itch, Goldie (I'm takin these most popular ones as examples) they all moved on with their music, and i cant say it went to a good direction. Tech itch started experimenting with dub step, and for me thats a bad thing, since i despise dubstep being a rip off of dnb (so i dont really udnerstand wtf are u talkin about me hearing some dubstep track on the radio).
I copped this on wax when it first came out, but this along with a huge stack of other classic dnb records got stolen when I did a set in amsterdam like 10 years ago.. :(
ha really? i suggest you do your homework as you obviously know very little...i am a dnb head first off and i like dubstep, you seem confused as they are 2 different genres at 2 completely different bpms, dubstep came out of 2 step garage a long time ago and became it's own genre........nobody thinks dubstep is a ''rip off'' of dnb except you

It's called the amen break. It's been in use from the 80s and more or less spawned several genres of music, such as drum & bass.
