I was not able to walk due to active AS in hip joints. In Feb 2024 , I got panic arthritis attack in hip joint and was bed ridden for 6 weeks. My rheumatologist prescribed Tofacitinib 5 mg in mid march 24. Due to this medicine my daily walking distance is 6-8 kms ( without any pain) Tofacitinib has provided me a NEW lease of life. I am thankful to my Rheumatologist Dr Tembe Aniruddha (Pune)

Yes sir, after that she was on biologics for almost 1 year but not so much relief.. Now she is on tofacitnib for almost 4 months but still not so much relief. Only some relief in stiffness... Still she cannot walk on her own or with walker..

We need to understand if this is due to AS activity/ joint inflammation or due to fusion. If AS is active, medicines should help. Neck exercises will help with active as well as fusion.
Actually i was asking because sjogren causes autoimmune arthritis. & my earlier symptoms was like sjogren only later throat pain relieved but discomfort continued & joint pain getting relief after infliximab.... I am HLA b 27 negative
Sir I have been detected of AS. I have SI pain when I walk a lot or with exertion but other times it’s fine. I feel little pain in rotating in bed. And lower back is stiff. I met a doctor who prescribed me tofashine 11mg once a day, proxy er 300 mg twice a day, bio d3 max capsule, architol nano 60 k , both once a day. Please tell me if I should be going ahead with these medicines or should I control with diet and excercise ?
Tofacitinib is an effective medicine for AS. Continue meds as advised by your rheumatologist. Go ahead with diet & exercise. Once AS is controlled, Toafcitinib can be tapered.

From how many years he is on tofacitinib? I am on tofa from last 2 years. Flare ups will happen sometimes. I also take a couple of Nsaids in a month but yes he has to exercise daily or yoga or go to gym . Only tofacitnib won’t keep him away from pain.

Because sir my mother has acute AS and she can’t walk without anyone’s help just after the RFA, before that she was using the walker..At that time we were unaware of the disease so that’s why RFA has been done to my mother..
Biologics/ Tofacitinib are much better than RFA for AS. Please see a rheumatologist asap.
Yes sir, after that she was on biologics for almost 1 year but not so much relief..
Now she is on tofacitnib for almost 4 months but still not so much relief. Only some relief in stiffness...
Still she cannot walk on her own or with walker..

We need to understand if this is due to AS activity/ joint inflammation or due to fusion. If AS is active, medicines should help. Neck exercises will help with active as well as fusion.

Tofacitinib is an effective medicine for AS. Continue meds as advised by your rheumatologist. Go ahead with diet & exercise. Once AS is controlled, Toafcitinib can be tapered.

From how many years he is on tofacitinib? I am on tofa from last 2 years. Flare ups will happen sometimes. I also take a couple of Nsaids in a month but yes he has to exercise daily or yoga or go to gym . Only tofacitnib won’t keep him away from pain.
