It was amazing when this album dropped haha. It dropped the same year as the Concord 11's and the Patent Leather Grant Hill's (Fila), you could see 2Pac with those on in the album insert photos.
The 96 Olympics was hapening that summer so cats was rocking a lot of Olympics gear and Nike USA gear.
Just like this album was next level, hip hop was in the process of changing and becoming more broad as all regions were starting to shine.
The west had been killin it for some years by now, but there was still a lot of east coast artist killin shit too. LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Wu Tang, Redman, BCC, Nas, and many others were The midwest was starting to shine a lot more with Twista, Bone and Do or Die all had been killin it that year. Then the south was going hard with Master P and his Ice Cream Man album as well as Suave House with 8Ball & MJG and Tela etc.
Hip Hop was growing and becoming more and more diverse but still was street and not super corporate which was dope for the culture.

Now, you'll hear some say that Pac wasn't lyrical. I will be the first to tell you that he wasn't the best, but this brother wasn't just your ordinary rapper. I often say, it may not be your cup of tea of lyrics, but the brother was lyrical. Throw in his energy/delivery/flow....man.... One of my favorite lines from him, when just speaking on the rap game, comes from "Hail Mary": " Picture paragraphs unloaded, wise words being quoted
Peeped the weakness in the rap game and sewed it"! He knew he didn't have to be the best lyricist...he knew what the rap game was missing.....but unfortunately...well...Anyway, good review...These album is still FIRE!!

WHAT most ppl don't know is Pac had the vault of all DRE produced beats for his this double album, is it any surprise he set the game on fire w this album?and he was coming from the position of being the no 1 artist in prison w me against the world ! So his career was rising fast, ! being the no 1 selling artist in the game and he's America's most wanted at the same time doing movies, prison, shootings etc, that's a recipe for legendary music and here's the difference in 2pac having that combination vs others, he had the drive and intelligence and brain to take advantage of that, the man was not short on drive and ambition he had it in spades, this was raps first double album and it's the best rap album ever, not top 10, 5, 3, IT'S ONE, this guy took even going through trials and tribulations snatched his dream with two hands and said watch this...and that's why he's respected, he's the blue collar rapper with the brain of an ivy league graduate

Bonus for you, alternate version of Track 1, that 2pac made specifically for Mike Tyson to walk out to fights ruclips.net/video/PCv_FLpKUXE/видео.html
Thanks for doing this one! I probably bought the album 3-4x back in the day because one disc would always get messed up and start skipping, all time all time classic and it wasn't just what was hot in 1996, it stayed hot through summer of 97 too
