    This replaces the simple hand gesture of me wildly pointing at my headset while looking menacingly at other riders, which does not help alot but is a feature that i will wildly abuse when i see random other people driving

    I had no idea about this feature. My buddies and I just ride with the open mesh. I have always assumed if we seen other people, they would automatically connect to us? But it sounds like that is not the case after watching this video? Either way, good information to remember next time I see some one else out riding.

    lol sooo itll disconnect, but if you tap a magic button 3 times, you magically gain 100m of range?
    i dont understand how you can gain range with a button. if it can reconnect and shoot out an additional 100m it should just be designed to not disconnect in 1st place. using the new +100m range

    • @JustQzen
      @JustQzen Год назад +1

      100m range draws a lot more power and is generally not as reliable in terms of quality and dropouts. So its nice that their default is low as you would be close to your friends in most cases anyway.

      Hi. The "Mesh Reach-Out" notice will be sent out to nearby riders within 100m to those who don't have Mesh Intercom turned on when it's activated. Once they turn on Mesh Intercom and connect to the Mesh with someone then their intercom range is 2km between them. Or, it can be 8km in a group with at least 6 Mesh Intercom riders. Thanks.

    How about to make some function to let us know once someone is out of range? This is the most enoying situation and I really miss the voice prompt "device is out of range, please wait for connection" from the older bluetooth devices... This was very usefull prompt. Also prompts that are giving infos about battery levels are very low volume on new sena spiders.... most of the time, I cant it when ride and miss that completly.

    I have the original SRL Kit in my Neotec 2. Will the MeshPort Red give me mesh capability as well as connect to my GoPro 12 so that I can record all riders audio?
    Thanks
    David

    • @senatechnologies
      @senatechnologies  8 месяцев назад

      Hi David. It will not do both at the same time. You would need the Sena +Mesh paired to your SRL and the MeshPort Red paired to the GoPro Hero12 so that it can record you and any other Mesh Intercom capable Sena headset. Thanks.

    If they were already connected at the start of the ride why would they need to use 'Reach Out'? I dont get it...!?

    • @emptymind604
      @emptymind604 Год назад +5

      You go for a ride... you stop for a coffee.. you turn off your comms to save power.. you all get back on your bike and turn back on the comms.. someone forgets the extra 'enable mesh' button because.. reasons.. reach out as described gives a way to remind the other person to turn on mesh.. which is better than waving about franticly pointing at your comms trying to tell them to turn it on.. assuming of course that they remembered to turn on their unit. :)

      The one guy wasn't connected on the Mesh when the ride started - before heading out they weren't talking on coms. He should have turned his Mesh on, and thanks to the Mesh Reach-Out invite, he realized, and was able to join in with his ride friends!

      i normally carry a couple off ziplock sandwich bags and rubber bands. Sena is way too expensive to take chance on water damage. hasn;t happened to me yet but i have seen it happen. one of my friends forgot his sandwich bag and while he was wearing his helmet we secured his water proof solution with a condom. It wasn’t used, but when we stopped to eat, everyone seeing it hanging from his helmet didn’t know that it wasnt used. Lately the only way to get a helmet mount for Sena 30-50 is to buy a complete set. don’t know what is up the supply chain issue in the market in SE Asia.

      @@marknasia5293 We actually did that about a week ago. A small sandwich bag and a hair tie borrowed from the girlfriend. It worked but we ride together a lot and in all weather conditions so it’s a pain for us. We love our Sena’s though!

      They're actually water resistant and made to withstand rain. They're just not made to be submersed, so they can't be called waterproof.

      @@lexalbrecht8253 All I can say is that I really do love my 30K but mine stops working when it rains and takes a few days before it works again. I use a sandwich bag and a hair tie over it now to prevent water damage.

      I’ve used my 20s heaps in the rain but it’s essential to remove it and allow the connections to dry overnight. When I’ve forgotten that I’ve had to put it in a bag of rice to dry out otherwise I get funny unplanned connections probably through a short circuit.

      Hi. You can either use the WiFi Adapter after setting it up through the Sena Motorcycles App on your phone or you can use the Sena Device Manager for your PC to update the firmware to use the Mesh Reach-Out feature.

      @@senatechnologies Thank you for your rapid response. Since the WiFi Adapter has been working all other updates, I'll just wait for this update to hit my system. Awesome! BTW our riding group of 10+ riders all use SENA because of your mesh capabilities. Thank you for creating the mesh solution.

    I make and take phone calls all the time while riding on the bike.
    So this RUclips advert is not too good at explaining as to how and why is this
    Mesh concept is better than making a phone call.

    • @JustQzen
      @JustQzen Год назад +1

      Sena allows for far more people on the same channel as a group call on a normal phone. And depending on where you are in the world a group call might cost a bunch as well. Not to mention the seamless adding of people. You can easily add a new rider that just joined your group at a random gas station.

      If somebody doesn't turn their Mesh network on before the ride starts (like the Richard guy in this clip) or you cross paths with them mid-ride - you can send an audio invitation to their device using the Mesh Reach-Out feature. They'll hear it, and can join the Mesh, if they'd like!
      That way, you don't have to call them to ask them to turn on their Mesh, and if it's someone who you don't know, you can connect with them out on the road! :)

    i like San products and get the new feature, but the the premise of this advertisement that riders meet up and have no idea where the other riders are headed? Bad example of safe riding in groups. Just promote the new feature without targeting the incompetent group riders. Sena works best for me when trail riding and getting separated, not because of a poorly planned route, but due to someone taking a wrong turn on a trail etc. Maybe that wouldn’t be a better example of how to use the reach out function, but I don’t work for Sena’s ad department. Also, I am finding it (SE Asian market) so difficult to get Sena 50S (harmon) regular 50S or even the 30/20K helmet mounting kits lately. What is up with the supply? I have plenty for the helmets i own, but hooking up a friend with a Sena intercom that has mor than one helmet, it is nice to be able to gift them a couple of helmet mounting kits too.

      Thanks for the comment and we're glad to know you're a fan of Sena! There are many situations when the Mesh Reach-Out feature comes in handy, this is just one where one rider didn't turn his Mesh on before heading out. Things like this can happen! Another great application for this feature is if you're out riding and come across a rider you'd love to talk to. Simply use the Mesh Reach-Out to invite them to connect, and they'll know you're keen to chat!
