      Exactly, like, how many military units are dispatched to Tennessee to deal with monsters? Apparently enough to be unable to tell which one the story about. Which either means that there are a LOT of monsters in Tennessee, or the military is TERRIBLE at keeping records.

    As a military man, the scariest story will always be a toss up between accidentally re enlisting, or waking up to find you fell asleep in basic training and the drill sergeant took your rifle.

      The problem I have with some of the stories is that they still leave in identifying details in, even when they said “To keep everyone and myself safe”. But I just need something to sleep to🤣

    • @ArtByCole
      @ArtByCole 2 года назад +3

      @@guccygoose383 I was beginning to think I was the only one hung up on this details because nobody is mentioning it.
      Says he'll avoid giving identifying details. Gives location, their teams nickname, states it is a 9 man team + the leader, and he is not the one making decisions. In a list of 9 easily verifiable names, I'm sure they could figure out who is the one leaking the info, based on their speaking patterns, the events in the reports, and the specifics in the story.
      I'm not saying it makes it a bad story. Not at all. I've seen no sleep stories (somewhat of an interactive creepypasta where people are supposed to play along with the story like it is all real) and I can't tell you how many times this happens. When someone points it out, the author reveals that they gave false details to keep their superiors looking elsewhere. It is a viable fix, although it still doesn't account for the discrepancy of saying they won't give details. If they did it to mislead, you would be better off pretending that releasing info was a critical oversight.
      Already, still some really good stuff, but I'm glad somebody else pointed that out. 😆

    • @jericho1-4
      @jericho1-4 2 года назад

      @@v_Shami that's cause the majority of the authors never served in the military let alone SOF/SOG and those that did serve were generally 11 bravo's/0311's or some similar MOS again not SOF/SOG so I usually give them the benefit of the doubt as they don't have the intricate knowledge that pins down all the details specifically. Very few ever get it 100% even in novels there is a guy who writes military type fiction who was a SAD operator and even he made some noticeable mistakes on generalized informational details any one who played COD could point out lol.

    • @v_Shami
      @v_Shami 2 года назад

      @@jericho1-4 youre right, but at the same time you dont have to have served to do some research and make an actually good story. if i had any writing skills i, a dumbass 16 year old that has obviously never served, could do a much nicer job
      probably anyway
      tl;dr write horror stories not cod fanfiction

    • @jericho1-4
      @jericho1-4 2 года назад +1

      @@v_Shami First your not a dumb ass, even if your only sixteen every teen does some "dumb shit" from time to time and your right research goes a long way but you can't contrary to popular opinion find out everything on the internet. For example when an operator weather SOG or SOF needs to quietly neutralize a target from behind with only a bladed weapon as no firearm is whisper quiet, do you think said operator is going to slit said targets throat or stab them in their upper thoracic. literature movies video games and even a fair amount of internet research says yes but the truth is far different, back of the neck at the base of the skull with an upwards drive of the blade. not only does this leave little external blood loss but also neutralizes the target before you gently place the body on the ground, not where you struck obviously but out of view. My mention of COD was merely as a reference point about radio comms between inserted units to the AO (aera of operation/s) and IC (incident command) that often authors poorly recreate. There's an old saying "the devil is in the details" If you want the story to really resonate with listeners/readers you have to be willing to as you suggest do the research, some do and some don't. It also depends on how creative an author is especially when writing horror I like those who veer off the traveled path and truly put their imagination to work giving us something we haven't read/listened to before or only come across very rarely. There's one that came out a few months back that had a SEAL team on leave facing off against some of Hollywood's biggest slashers and horror characters though that one was more dark humor than scary but it was off the beaten path and very enjoyable. A lot of creepy pastas are repetitive in idea and scope it's the ones that take that idea and go in an entirely new direction that draws the most attention, wouldn't you agree ?

    I thought Raiders were Marines from MARSOC not Green Barret's, Army Rangers were at one time known as Raiders along with a Marine Corps element in WW2, again not Green Barret's.

    My dad used to serve in the army. And funny story he served 10 years, and spent most of those years in germany. My mom is from germany, but that's not where they met. They actually met here in the U.S.. In a grocery store after she immigrated here. funny enough.

    A nuclear weapons pit is highly radioactive: gamma given off all the time, alpha & beta can be absorbed through the skin or respiratory system. This is why nuclear weapons are heavily shielded. With thick lead casing . Also making the smallest of pit very heavy to carry.
