One thing i have definitely noticed is that since starting taurine supplements I am without question more "chilled out" I have cervical dystonia and it is much more pronounced when my anxiety levels are higher. I take Taurine an hour before going to the gym 1.5g, I also feel more chill and feel like I have better endurance. I add it with the other stack of stuff I take and don't think or expect anything from it, but the days I do take it I feel ever so slightly different.

May I suggest keeping TMG for methyl donors, but also adding L-Serine as glutathione precursor - which has added benefit of reducing homocysteine while also providing glycine. So L-Serine+NAC is a better way to go….
Glycine + NAC creates glutathione, one of the most important antioxidants in your body. Glutathione taken directly is not well absorbed so you have to make it I think in your liver? from these two components which are absorbed.
I am all for making progress in this field but Unsure as hell don't want to go through puberty again! Ha. I think progress is being made but there is a long way to go before we can reduce the effects if age the way we can reduce fat/BMI today.

It’s okay to take them together but you might be defeating the purpose in some regard because the nattokinase and serrapeptase may act as expensive digestive enzymes in the presence of the amino acid (taurine) as the gut is ramping up to do its job with higher acid levels in response to the food ingested. According to the experts, systemic enzymes are typically best taken on an empty stomach so they can reach the desired destination and provide specific benefits etc. I’d be curious to know how much of a response we’d really see after just taking 1gm of taurine though.

Could it just be that lab chow is such garbage, that adding literally any nutrient or protein to a lab mouse's diet will improve its health, thereby resulting in longer average (but not maximum) lifespan?
I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering the life extension offered by feeding the rats, decent food versus the standard chow. We could evaluate any life extension supplement compared to the good food.
What do you expect it to do? If the effects observed in these studies pan out to also be similar in humans, you're first looking at larger doses than 1g per day, they also from what I recall fed the monkeys for six months, not two weeks. The mice and worms showed a decent increase in life span while with the monkeys health indicators seemed to improve but measuring the effects on lifespan would take longer with monkeys. If it helps with human life span, you're not going to see any effect in two weeks. You could just as easily dismiss the benefits of protein powder by taking it for two weeks. Also, a test subject of one is useless. While subjective effects and personal anecdotes are hugely affective on human behavior, scientifically they're worthless.

Why is it considered to be an amino acid. It has the amine group but lacks the carboxylic acid functional group. I wonder if it would be better classified as an amine. It should be noted that despite containing some taurine, meat is not a healthy food and taurine supplementation combined with a plant-based diet that's naturally higher in cysteine and arginine and lower in methionine and saturated fats is the better choice.
If you want to feel it you have to take it on empty stomach. I don't take it sooner that 3.5 hours after the last meal. Preferably more. 1 gram should be plenty enough to feel it.

Taurine is the second most abundant amino acid in the body's muscle after glutamine. It is believed to significantly improve physical and cognitive performance and is therefore one of the most popular sports supplements. 20 years ago I took taurine capsules and powder every day for 1-2 years. I would say taurine is more of a cheap amino acid (especially in powder). Many people take magnesium taurate because it has higher absorption and combines the benefits of magnesium and taurine, but it is more expensive.

If you think I should be taking something, I probably already am lol

Good question 👌 Taurine does absolutely nothing for me, done 1 gram per pre workout for two weeks and it does nothing.

Good luck I only eat meat rarely, have plenty of vegan meals, I eat a lot of organic eggs though as they are a nutritional powerhouse

It is believed to significantly improve physical and cognitive performance and is therefore one of the most popular sports supplements. 20 years ago I took taurine capsules and powder every day for 1-2 years.
I would say taurine is more of a cheap amino acid (especially in powder). Many people take magnesium taurate because it has higher absorption and combines the benefits of magnesium and taurine, but it is more expensive.

But you only want about a gram or so, too much may raise cholesterol levels.

But in terms of actual pills I take omega 3s, D3/K2, astragalus, Citrus bergamot, zinc, copper, magnesium, NMN, AKG, quercetin (hopefully avoid kidney stones by lowering uric acid), oral hyaluronic acid, tudca, nac... If you think I should be taking something, I probably already am lol
