Home had really great first party content, that and it being run by Sony really boosted some of the quality of content, over UGC content. The developers that really stuck their neck out and provided content for Home made Home a great experience that separates it from other experiences like VRChat and Second Life.
Since it’s a non profit thing it’s legally a gray area. Openly admitting to reverse engineering the code, even for a defunct service/product, could open them to cease and desist orders tho
Now we will have to rely on the 'Tekken 8" online social space on the PlayStation 5, to have a similar PlayStation Home experience on the PlayStation next-gen console 😊
PlayStation needs to release PlayStation Home 2.0 with optional PSVR2 functionality. Exactly like what VR CHAT is doing right now on PC. It's the perfect selling point for their virtual reality tech. Come on Sony!
One of my favorite spaces in PS Home was the Xi Museum. There were two text based games that were my first introduction to that kind of game media. I'd love a chance to play those again.
Can you imagine the space for FF7 Remake? The gold saucer games, seventh heaven bar, sooo much potential there...with the return of EA sports college football you could have nike track outfits of your team (or adidas or UA) merchandise for your apartment...a lot of money being left on the table here
Shutting PS Home and not porting over to the PS4 was a mistake from Sony along with other mistakes they've made like ditching the Vita along with all their other features and such, imagine PS Home on the PS4 and PS5 as well as a graphically improved version of it and a VR version too, missed opportunity on Sony tbh, along with many missed opportunities and such from them tbh
