As someone who grew up in Calabasas, in my experience about 60% of the kids there are stuck up and starving for attention, because to earn the kind of money it takes to live out there their parents are never around/constantly glued to their phones working so they act out and get into trouble just so someone will acknowledge they exist. The other 40% of people are the nicest privileged overachieving kids you'll ever meet. They work hard in school because they wanna maintain their lifestyles when they grow up and their parents put them into all the extra curriculars they can pack into every week. There are good and bad people no matter where you live, the ones in richer parts of SoCal just have a privileged coat of paint.

This is the first podcast I've seen where Jenna feels like recent Jenna! Much more attentive, still as nuts as ever, but a nice vibe. I'm really working through all the podcasts so I can feel the evolution as I only got to witness the last year or so of Jenna Marbles before she left but I really really loved her content, and am so amazed at getting to be able to see her growth across videos.

Honestly these podcasts mean so much to me, they even calm me down when I'm anxious haha. And it's also really interesting to hear what you guys have to say about pretty much anything I guess, your opinions are just really interesting and nice to think about. I wish you did these podcasts more often but it's fine, I hope your new place is great and that you won't have to move anymore (unless you buy a house yay) and I love you very much ♡ ♡
And that ''now there's nothing special for me'' story is heartbreaking, did you have to tell it 2 times nooo

    WHYYYYY? 😭
I'm here though. If all I got is RUclips, I'm down. I'm here.
Love you guys! Thanks for making this Podcast. I'm totally binge listening 🎧

I usually listened to these podcast instead of watching them, but due to recent facts I have a lot of free time, free time that in my case means loneliness and feeling like shit. in the last period I have started watching the podcast here on youtube and it makes me feel part of something you know? like I was having a conversation with a couple of friends. thank you for doing this, you two are amazing

You two are so cute together. Thank you for taking time out from moving to do your podcast. It is stressful enough to move without trying to do extra things on the side. To touch on neighbors I have had so many neighbors move in and out in the building next door in the last 10 years I basically gave up getting to know any of them. We have had some good neighbors, had one though that was on the sex offenders list and no one told about it until after they moved out. I was so pissed because I have two kids a boy and a girl that had I known would have let them be outside alone. Other than that good neighbors. I also grew up in the country similar to Jenna where anything good to was 30 - 40 min. away so played outside a lot in our yard, fields, and such. We made our own fun. Thanks again you two for your videos and things. Hope you enjoy your new place and that your neighbors will be good to you as well as your landlord. Oh and to touch on snobs in school where I live don't have a lot of private schools around so you had the snobby group in the public schools. They always looked down at everyone else and thought their shit didn't stink. A lot of the ones who were snobby better than you types were the ones that went to the parochial schools until 8th grade and then everyone at the same high school. Guess they forgot what they learned in their parochial school or they wouldn't have been snobby to begin with. Yet there was some really great kids that came from the parochial schools who were friends with everyone and treated everybody equally.

On a snow day my mom made my brother and I some hot chocolate with marshmallows and the works... I believe we might even have had toaster struddles then too. Well his cup was on my right and close to my plate. Thinking it was mine at one point I casually drank it. Well as I was drinking it my brother did the "where'd mine go" look and then looked at me drinking it. When I finished he realized I was drinking his and casually explained to me. For what ever reason I instantly had thee worst feeling EVER and immediately started crying, with hot chocolate coming out my mouth. I tried to offer mine but I had already drank a lot of it too hahaha. I felt sooooo bad and as if there was no more hot chocolate in the world.

uhh hey. just want to say ugh i'm so thankful you guys never deleted these videos because the amount of relief and comfort i receive when i just want to think i'm cool and sexy etc but here i am with my christmas trees still up well into april-soon-to-be-october - just knowing i'm not alone in that might just be enough for me to take it all tf down and pack it up and then maybe do the dishes to actual completion like a fuckin grownup for once not just the dishwasher dishes but ALL the dishes, so... thanks. lol. (kinda annoyed this dumb comment might be the first comment i've left after yearsss of falling slowly in [platonic] love with you two. jenna first obv, but julen soon after. hoping you all are so well and so good. xo

Born and raised Valley dude here. Encino/Sherman Oaks/Studio City is a more upscale area in the Valley, and has a mixture of good people and d-bags. You'll never escape d-bags completely, but it's better than over the hill in L.A. (Valley residents call the L.A. basin "over the hill," so it's all a matter of perspective.) Valley people can still be plastic, but it's less frequent than where you were. Also, there's an economic difference between peeps south and north of Ventura Blvd. The richer ppl live south and the poorer live north. I've had people south of the Blvd give me serious attitude, so just be mindful of that. (Not all South of the Blvd people are d-bags, though.)

14 mins into it and jenna describes me going to school. A Low income child going to private school had to wear a uniform with a bunch of children with successful parents and nice cars and cool things to bring around and toys and cool supplies for school.
It didn't occur to me I didn't belong till the office made it very clear that I don't pay to go here like the other students parents do, my grandpa was paying. It sucked cuz everyone looked at me differently and not for who or what I truly am or wanted to bye. In many ways I felt wrongly judged and feel it follows me around to this day lol wow this podcast really made me open up

I think what your saying is so true to my current situation when talking about school life. I grew up in a small village near Southampton, UK and then went to a private boarding school. It turns out that most of the people there were stuck up and said things like "poor people should die". I spent 3 years there and left as soon as I could. We moved to London and am now at a normal state school and have finally found out what normality can be.
Jenna if you read this I just would want you to know that you have inspired me to be genuine to give zero fucks and live life in the best way possible.

i feel like the younger people who live in Los Angeles are cool because I also was born and raised here and i'm only 18, a product of a low income area public school (hawthorne high), and pretty much everyone i've ever met has been pretty cool. Only now that i'm going to UC Irvine am i really meeting pretentious people.
Also side bar, i think growing up in primarily Hispanic and black neighborhoods has a lot to do with how you perceive Los Angeles because kids of immigrants (like myself) and other minorities live in different areas that are kind of like what Jenna is talking about where everyone is playing outside and you know your neighbors because you connect with them culturally. i don't know, maybe LA is just waay to big and ethnically diverse to put into one stereotype. what do you guys think? :)

Very enjoyable vlog! We're practically neighbors now, but I've also lived in a number of LA areas over the 20 plus years I've lived here, including Topanga Canyon! You mentioned cool bars... there's a couple of valley favorites you'll likely hear about and visit. Encino and Woodland Hills have a few. Heck even Studio City and Burbank. Ventura Blvd is loaded with them.

Chapel Hill, NC is similar in attitude as LA, especially in the schools. Total dependence on the govt was taught. It seems many schools are now following the model to produce dependent people no free thinkers wanted. It is interesting that in academic organizations free though and alternate ideas are discouraged.

They have some very interesting points about seeing the kids playing or not. I feel it depends on the area. where I'm from, near pasadena, there are always kids out playing. I grew up playing outside, with my neighbors. We came home when the street lights turned on. But i also think with the new advances with video games or movies, children have become less social and hang out indoors on computers more. I remember making up games and playing in trees where the computer can do that for kids. It is interesting to hear the differences in others areas besides where I'm from.

I've pretty much lived in the valley my whole life so I grew up learning that I had to work to get stuff and I never had met anyone in the part of the valley that I lived in that was stuck up or pretentious, until one day I went over to the Stevenson Ranch/Valencia area. Some people up there are pretty cool, but unfortunately the majority of them were very stuck up and kids were just... urgh. So definitely feel you guys with this.
Also, the stigma comes from the parts of the valley I come from. You guys pretty much named the nicest areas in the valley, where the wealthy people live typically. The other side... Sylmar, San Fernando, Pacoima, etc. are the parts people don't like since it's a bit, not gonna lie, pretty ghetto. So yeah.

My favorite part about packing is I get to see and know where all my stuff is. (example: after moving you will totally know the location of that extra water filter for your BRITA jug, you will obviously forget where it is by the time you need it but that's ok)
My neighbors right now are a couple of 20-something year old guys that never look at us when we're outside or say anything. So now I just stare them down intensely, even if it's through my bedroom window.
I've been to LA twice and I've had a great time (as a tourist) Hopefully finding a job there in aerospace engineering so then I'll really know how egocentric they are or not. This is so long nobody is probably reading it lol so peeeeace

We have some neighbors who live directly in back of us who are just ridiculous. I've had to listen to their hilarious nonsense for nearly eleven years now. So these neighbors consist of an older gentleman and his middle-aged son. To clarify, I have a feeling that the younger of the gentleman might have some sort of developmental issue or is otherwise mentally handicapped. I mean, his motor skills are alright, but the whole situation makes me think that somethings up (WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE, BY THE WAY; I'm definitely not dumping on those who have mental disorders or handicaps or anything like that). Anyway, when the weather gets nice, you better believe they'll have their windows open and they're like the neighbors you described where there is no normal talking for them. Just scream-talking. EVERYTHING is at max volume with them, the television, their phone conversations, their arguments. I hear it all. If there's a football or hockey game on, you better believe I'll know the score. Every time there's a touchdown or a goal, this son will open the patio door and unleash a blowhorn on the neighborhood, which gets the babies crying and the dogs barking all over the place. And our neighborhood is weird because the row of houses in back of us was built on a hill so in my back yard, there's a tiered ledge that leads up to their house. So these guys are just pretty much sitting on top of this hill, creating this insane amount of noise, and it drifts right into my bedroom window (we live in a two story house). The son will yell the names of people food that he's feeding his labradoodle, which is funny, too. Like I said, I fully understand that this is a situation where someone is not exactly sound, so that's why I just laugh it off and no one else calls the cops because the guy can't help it. It's just kind of a funny situation that your neighbor story made me think of.

Worst part about packing is that I relive the memory in my head of how I obtain each of my possessions as I go through my stuff and packing never gets done on time.
