An Aqua Guntank could work, just mount the top part of the Guntank to an Aqua Ball and give it a few more aqua jets and some torpedoes and call it a day. Although it is interesting to see the Feddies take on Aqua MS, it is just something they never got right...somehow.

I'd use the RTX-440 as the base and replace the forward caterpillar tracks with ballast tanks and hydro-jets and a 2 or 4 tube large Subroc launcher then make it jettisonable on land. The mines and MLRS I'd also replace with balast tanks amd hydro jets and put three needle guns on each side that can be detached and used by other friendly ms. Then I'll replace the main 220 mm main cannon with a retractable amphibious use beam cannon that can fire while retracted in rhe main torso while in amphibious mode. The left arm will retain the 2 tube improved Bop Guns and Flamethrower while the right arm will have a 2 tube improved Bop Guns and a caseless charge-fired twin pile driver for close quarters combat. And since this is Thunderbolt I'd also give it two sers of manipulator arms to weild those extra needle guns.

I would rather just use mobile armor underwater

8:47 I can imagine an aqua guntank being kinda like a Federation Agg where, yes it can go underwater, but its gonna be doing most if not all of the fighting out of it with a similar hovercraft esque leg/feet things the Agg has in place of its treads. Maybe even replacing the 40mm bop missiles with mini harpoon/needle guns or small subrocs

UGH they NEED to continue the Gundam Thunderbolt anime. The suit designs are WAY too cool! Especially the federation Zeong!

Clearly the Federation had better success with water-proofing and adjusting their machines for water variants. If I recall correctly, Zeon has trouble adapting their existing suits to water which is why they went off on a whole new range of units engineered from the ground up for water use. This also keeps the two sides into step with the WW@ tech anolgy in Gundam with the "good guys" using reliable, proven designs with variations and the enemy using all it's crazy wonder-weapons, constantly trying to make bigger, badder units.

Zeon had the right idea in building new mobile suits for aquatic warfare. Most of the Federation aquatic units faired poorly most of the time, and the Federation seemed to give up on fighting zeon in the ocean

@@jordanstreat590 the Federation could more afford to lose mobile suits than Zeon and those big, complicated machines just ate of Zeon resources.

@elfbait3774 The Federation still had little advancement in aquatic warefare with the resources they poured into it. They couldn't even disluage zeon units from the sea.

@@jordanstreat590 putting aside the story needs that drive mecha performance, I am going to assume that the Feds simply didn't see it as a priority. In the "quantity is a quality of its own" strategy, the Fed could afford to lose units and that, in itself, was a defense again Zeon advanced machines. Eventually Zeon loses those units and is out way more than the Fed even if they lose a bunch of GM-based units. Those destroyed GMs cost a fraction of what one Gog or Zgok cost and could easily be scavanged for parts to support other units.

@elfbait3774 Staying cheap can cost more than you think, and the item is only useful if someone is alive to use it. Making unite for a job is better long term. the shows seem to agree, at least with amphibious mobile suits.
