The Man's been sounding like he's an elder statesman in his 50's since before he was old enough to legally drink....must be what he's smokin' on that's put the wear and tear and chokin' his own vocal chords, that's what I think...of course, some of what he says is a true summation of the world around him, all about life always on the brink; exposed to the pigs AND those he knows as his street brothers, maybe he shows his very own mother's somewhere under the one of those wigs colored pink...for all I know, he's an old soul exuded out his eyes by voodoo dude who concluded his bout surmised everything but the kitchen sink.

No diss, I'm actually a fan of Onyx. Their 2nd album is one of the best LPs to come out of the golden era. Sticky has always been a dope lyricist, one of NYs finest. But at the time that Tical dropped, Bacdafucup was Onyx only tape and I wasn't a big fan of it at all. Ironically, most people think it's their best album but I thought Slam was annoying and all the beats on the album were boring as fuck. Bitchazzniggaz was my shit tho. And Throw Your Gunz. But the rest of the tape was boring to me.

There’s (surprisingly) still a shitload of dope lyricists out there today, but almost nobody is flaunting any kind of unique swag to the game. You can always correlate a rapper’s influence to someone from the past. Can’t really say that about the Wu.
