if I remember right, Bob used to be a sergeant in the military... after a while, he got tired in yelling at people so he quit and started painting. then he vowed not to yell EVER again... and that's the story on how Bob Ross is so sister calm!

I’Nyajah The drill sergeant is the guy you see screaming at future soldiers while they’re in training, if you’ve ever watched like war movies and such. Basically he drill sergeant is super rough on the soldiers to toughen them up.

I think in the beginning Bob Ross (and also James) says something like "season 31"... Regardless of how many years Bob spent training and perfecting his craft before going on the air, he has had an additional 31 seasons to perfect his craft.
I am fairly certain that even I, with zero natural skills or talants in the artistic field, would gain a fair amount of expertese if I spent ten years working on it...
