This song was on The Crow soundtrack & it started off as an instrumental Korn would play during their soundchecks. Sean Olson who did band duties for both Korn & Deftones would always want them to play it & maybe write some lyrics for it... That all happened & so they named the song after Sean Olson.
Yup. So non commercial. So much infact, that we don't even speak about the fact that they uh... Uh... Literally clogged up a street because they decided to ride in a tank. Or.. or... Pulling in a crazy ass crowd of teenagers in NYC when they went for an interview. Yeah, wow. So non commercial 👌🤣
This was recorded for self-titled in 1994, but they ended up not putting it on the album so it became a B-side. But I do adore that snare David used on their first album.
In a 2010 interview with ARTISTdirect, frontman Jonathan Davis said: Sean Olson used to work for us. He was my tweaker buddy. He was just this funny ass character. The intro of the song is “What’s your lie?” He would always come up to me and say, “What’s your lie?” [Laughs] He hung out with us for a while. It’s hard going back and trying to remember what I was actually thinking at that time, but I know it was about Sean and I delving into that meth-induced, dark place. It really came out in that song.
I read somewhere that this song was titled as "Sean Olson" because he was Jonathan's friend. He did some drugs with him, bad trips which lead him to write these dark lyrics. The song itself is not about Sean Olson but rather about Jonathan's life.
Also I recall Jonathan does not exactly remember the original idea or his thoughts when he was writing this song, because it was such a long time ago and he was doing drugs.
I just remember hearing this song when I was like 12 back around the time Life Is Peachy came out and was blown away. Also felt it should have been on the self titled album.
It's an outtake from the self titled album, along with Layla and This Broken Soul. It was on the single for Shoots And Ladders and then The Crow City Of Angels soundtrack.
@@salvadorricardojimenez5401 I mean it’s not like officially produced, it’s not on Spotify and it’s not really on any albums but it’s still a very good Korn song!

Hey man! put this song to the Self Titled area. Ok, this was released in 96, but they actually recorded in 94, which is an outtake for their first album.

This is a first for me. It's not bad, honestly! I can say that, as a big fan of Korn, this definitely carries a tone that feels very Follow the Leader. It feels like that era. Distinct guitar styles and such. I do wish it were on Spotify, I would add it to my Metal list!
For some reason this song gives BDSM/ domination vibes i don't know why it's obviously not the meaning but something about it just gives me those vibes.
I genuinely wanna know the meaning of this song like I’m curious because I want an EXACT answer but I usually see different meanings all across the internet.
While I understand how unhealthy it would be for Jonathan to stay in his raw childhood trauma, sometimes I wish he did, so we could get these types of Korn songs. So powerful.
@@tristinbrown802 nah daddy by far is not only their most fucked up song but the most fucked up song I've ever heard in general and I listen to alot of death metal. Lyrics alone don't make a song dark.

You probably meant early on they were non commercial. They got commercial when they made it big in like 1996-97
"Did My Time" for Tomb Rider
Monster Energy drink in "Way Too Far"
"Haze" for Haze
ADIDAS EVERYWHERE!!!

The song most def sounds like it's from the first album more than Life is Peachy but either way it still jams!
Because it's from the first album but was scrapped
Definitely not from LIP era.
sounds more like something from the crow 2 soundtrack era... oh wait..
