I truly loved your video tour of beautiful Switzerland! I took my family on a first time trip there in November and just loved it. We took the train from Salzburg into Zurich then rented a car and went to many of the same places … Right before this trip I actually purchased a BMW R18! Great bike and I can’t wait till spring here in New York to ride more 👍
Hi Don! Really great to hear you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to drop us a comment 😎👍 That sounds like a great trip, Salzburg is a lovely city too, great idea renting a car it really is a great way to see Switzerland. Congratulations on the R18!! It's such a fun bike and kept putting a smile on our faces! We are looking forwards to spring too, our latest video was a bit chilly in the Alps lol. Thanks again for watching!
What an fantastic ride and beautiful places, and I am so impressed by your fantastic filming. I really feel like I’m on the bike with you guys 😎😁👍🏻❤️Best wishes from Norway 🇳🇴
Hi, thanks very much for you comment! This was such a fun ride. Last year we got back from a trip to the Nordkapp and we really enjoyed Norway 😊 ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wBDli8y7IjlY2Q4MBPnA0u&si=dwUJreOXpeVw8MV3
Wow I expected the BMW R18 to be more of a straight line cruiser? I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it handled the twisties (or rather Sean did!) The R18 makes a lovely sound, like the 1250 but on steroids! 🤣 another lovely and very watchable tour, very well done to you both! regards Dennis.
Hi Dennis Yeah we thought the same! Probably not common to take the R18 directly to the swiss alps to test it but it did great! At times some of those super tight switch backs took a bit of work and the footpegs did grind a lot on the floor but overall it handles really well! '1250 but on steroids' is a great description lol and the sound from that 1800cc air cooled boxer was awesome -you can really feel it too! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! Hi David, thanks so much for your comment and we are really glad you enjoyed it. We had such a great time on the mountain passes with the R18! _hope to do it again this year =)
I agree with most of the comments here great vid great couple enjoyed the lot immensely, I have the R18 Classic had it almost 12 months now and can’t really see me swapping it , I also have an original 20 + year old R1200 cruiser which I think is amazing too. Well done guys 👍
Hi, thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate feedback like this and are so glad you enjoyed the video. I can see why you love the R18 Classic! The Original R1200 cruiser is an all time classic! -we would love to have one of those in our garage too! We still have our R1200 Aircooled GS and wont be parting with that! I hope you enjoy our latest tour -The Heading South Tour ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0yRXu9qeZuZWnHoS1KQV7_8
Great scenery for sure. The only thing that keeps me from continuing to watch your content is the music. I know some like it, but it’s a bit over-stimulating for such a nice ride. Maybe I’ll check back in a few months. Ride safe!!!
Hi, thanks for watching. This was filmed before we had microphones in our helmets so perhaps you would prefer episodes including and after the Heading South tour where the music is only during the montages.
Hi Sean, congratulations on the video and Emily is very nice. I am 63 years old and we travel, my wife and I on the second ADV 1250 like yours. We do 25,000 km/year. I would like to try and buy the R18 Trasnsc but I wonder. How will it behave on hairpin bends like Stelvio? Of course, it won't be like ADV but you who have used it in the mountains, what do you think? Thank you! Hello lads!
Hi Mauro, thanks for your comment and we are happy to hear you have been enjoying the videos. That’s awesome you travel so much on the R1250 😎🙌🏻. To be honest, as much as the R18 was lots of fun I wouldn’t want to tackle the stelvio on that bike. I mean it’s possible just a bit stressful, you can’t lean it very far before the pegs scratch the floor and comparing it to the GS it’s not nimble at all. I would be interested to try out the new R12 as it should be lighter and more nimble. 😎🙌🏻
you know, that’s an excellent point. seems that everyone uses the female body to grab views! this was an excellent vlog- makes me dream of taking a trip like this with my wife someday. great job!
@@ericknapp3114 We are really glad you enjoyed this Vlog and thanks for letting us know =) If you and your wife make it over someday let us know and we can help you plan a route. 🙂
Sean : I’m 1.86 m tall , and I got a sharp knee angel and wasn’t feeling that comfy. What about you ? But on the other hand , my latest bikes was on GSA’s and love to stand up and drive sometimes.
Hi Åke, yeah the knee angle now that you mention was sharp. Although saying that it never got uncomfortable…I was too busy concentrating on getting it around the switchbacks 😁. Yeah we have GS’s as our primary bikes and they are fit me perfect! I can even rest my legs on the boxers engine if I need to stretch my legs when not standing. 😎🙌🏻
Hi Dave, we took this trip in the last week of May. It was a mild winter so the passes were open early. The nice warm weather can be expected between May and September with most passes staying open until October (unless there are unexpected snow storms on the alps) 😊
Thanks for the video. I am going to buy one R18 transcontinental soon. and take a long trip with my wife. Is it comfy for you Emily? How tall are you? thanks for your respons
You’re very welcome, we hope you enjoyed it (check out part 1 too if you haven’t already). I’m 6ft2 and I did find it comfy -the seat was a whole new comfort level for me 😁. Emily said it was the most comfortable bike she had been on and wanted to put the R18 seat on our GS 😁 I hope you and your wife have some great trips and make some amazing memories 😊
Great review, do you know if we can rent the R18TC in Europe? This looks like a trip of a lifetime. 27 Francs... haha, better than a lot in New York. ;)
Hi, thanks! Yes you sure can rent the R18TC in Europe. We rented this one from Basel Switzerland. Did you see part 1? ruclips.net/video/JoDN8nip9nk/видео.html
@@nickoz7817 I am 190cm tall, no back rest with long legs and so far, no discomfort at all with the stock seat. Longest uninterrupted ride has been 2.5 hours. between the heated grips, heated seat, foot rests (mine has the mounted foot rests to place your legs above the cylinders) make it very comfortable. Coompared to a stock Harley, there is no comparison.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun!! =)
Punting that beast around those switch back roads would be challenging. I have an R18 Custom.
Love the video by the way.
It sure gave us a sense of accomplishment, there were lots of sparks flying from the bolt under the foot board =). The custom looks so cool!!

I'll recommend you to use the camera insta 360 it is great for recording when you are traveling..!!!!
Hi, yes lots of people like that and it's great for riding alone, however we prefer to record only in Linear so the GoPro works well for us. ;-)
How much was daily rent for the R18?
Hi, at the time we took the R18 out there was a promotional offer on for CHF 180 for 2 days. Prices can be found on the BMW rent a ride page. 😎👍🏻

Very nice video! Is the R18 better than GS?
Difficult to compare these 2 machines. For me the GS does everything so is always my number 1 .....would love to have an R18 as a second bike though 🙂
$30 US for overnight parking... ridiculous.
Isn't it just!!! Will need to find an alternative next time although leaving a motorcycle parked outside in Switzerland is generally not a problem.
