First you use mechanism constraints for the different parts, like hinge and slider, then you activate mechanism modus and add a servo motor to the slider (or one of the hinges, but slider is easier as you can set time-distance). There are some video tutorials out there which explain how to do this.

Do you mind sharing what parameters you set in mechanism to make the lift go up and down? I would really appreciate your help/advice.
