  • Earth was hit with a rare powerful solar storm over the weekend, lighting up skies and social media posts worldwide with the northern lights of aurora borealis. Dan Welling at the University of Michigan joined LiveNOW from FOX's Josh Breslow to discuss the G5 solar storm of 2024, solar flares and their impacts on a scientific and technological level.

    Earth's EM shield is weakening at an increasing rate. Red and pink auroras mean more radiation is penetrating more effectively. Pretty, but not a good situation.

    What this scientist is not saying is that this series of CMEs *was not that "rarely" strong.* What he is not saying is that the reason the aurora is visible so far south is that the magnetic bubble that surrounds Earth is in a rare but periodic (about every 6,000 years) transition and is weakening as the magnetic poles move to their new locations. This fact has been measured and recorded for the last ten or so years - it's NOT theory. The North magnetic pole is moving so fast presently that magnetic deviation tables in navigation charts must be updated every six months. Just 20 years ago this update requirement was every 5 to 10 years. The weakened magnetosphere means the high energy particles are not re-directed to the poles as much as they normally are and so end up impacting the atmosphere at lower latitudes. Get used to seeing this. It will become more frequent and more severe as far as it's impact on technology.

    What everyone has neglected to say is that these storms are common that it's the magnetic field that is weak due to a pole flip in progress that's allowing more solar particles to interact with our atmosphere.

    • @mikewallace8087
      @mikewallace8087 14 дней назад +1

      It's common for the Sun to flip . The 1859 Carrington event was before our huge civilization is now dependent on manufactured electricity . What do you think would happen now?

    • @theawakeningofpatriotsurvi5585
      @theawakeningofpatriotsurvi5585 14 дней назад +2

      @mikewallace8087 Earth is also going through a pole change just like our sun does. However, it's much slower and takes more time than what our sun does to flip. During this period are magnetic field becomes weaker which allows more solar particles through the atmosphere from smaller storms that we're going to see as Aurora

      @mikewallace8087 I have and we are overdue and you can see evidence of it happening by following when they started tracking the poles to now. This doesn't happen overnight, it takes time.

      @deemisquadis9437 14 дней назад +1

      That is not true. These storms are not a common occurrence. And they will be coming frequently now, because our solar system evolution event is happening right now. You don't know what's happening. This event has never been recorded or witnessed before.

      No. It's normal cycles of the sun and magnetic poles of the Earth. It's just that these cycles are 6000 to 12000 years long. Not too many people around to scientifically explain what was going on 6000 years ago. The Earth's magnetic cycle happens to be at it's peak so noticeable changes are happening fast.
