I've loved Eddie since I saw him live 1992 singing Bob's Masters of War at the Dylan tribute concert at MSG. In a night of memorable performances, that one stood out for me. It's like he was born to sing Dylan
As a diehard Dylan guy, I’ve been constantly impressed with your growth and range and your amazing voice. Thanks for covering the oldies. You do them proud.
WebbS the Into the Wild album is something not of this world beautiful. I feel so blessed to live on the same planet at the same time as Eddie. What a gift.
Being such a Bob Dylan fan from my youth I didn't realize one of my kids favorite musicians Eddie Veddie did a cover of Girl from the North Country and I am even more surprised how much I like his cover.
I absolutely love and cherish this man!! Amazing and talented man, sooo much passion!! I get so emotional when I hear him sing ever since the beginning!! 💓😊🌹
Eu já ouvi do Eddie Vedder 90% das musicas. A voz dele abaixa minha ansiedade , as letras da música é excelente . Tai gostaria de um dia apertar ou mesmo um abraço forte. Considero ele meu irmão . Ohana ED !👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
I know that eddie vedder is known for his ground breaking Rock, but I believe his true heart is for the old school music, I think he should have became famous back in the 60s and 70s.
I suggest you check my cover. It was a first try from laptop webcam and is better than this travesty.....Hang it up already Eddie. Pearl Jam is the curse that ruined grunge rock...
Yes the Dylan and Cash version is the one I grew to love. There is also an amazing version sung by James Waller from the Bridges of Madison county ( you wont find it on the soundtrack) but this Vedder version is beautifully sung. and my favorite is the lyrical change. a beautiful lyric to hear and feel. " See for me if her coats pulled up close. And her beret frames her sweet pretty face."
eddie made this song his own so i can understand why people who love the original will not like this.. i prefer this version and think its one of the greatest things out there.. just incredible how much sadness he can put into his voice.. i went to eddie in florence this year, sadly he didnt sing it but we did get to hear 30 other amazing songs so thats ok to =D
it's great to see someone as big as eddie vedder FINALLY transposing the songs he covers.. We see so many singers who refuse to transpose the songs they cover so that they fall inside their color zone and end up straining their voice and the overall result is just poor. This was amazing, his singing is terrific.
Original (on Freewheelin'?) is Bb, but live recordings and the duet with Cash are no capo, G. Veder did more than transpose (which anyone can do shifting the chords a number of steps), he transformed it with the D pull offs, and the Aadd4 and slight enough changes to the melody to make it personal without wrecking it.
It's fantastic to see how Eddie Vedder's evolved during his career. I like his 90's grunge version (Temple of The Dog and Pearl Jam), but the last songs (like Society, Hard Sun and covers) show how great artist he is, not holding on to a particular time or a particular kind of music. Great, man. Thanks for uploading.
beautiful cover...he makes it very much his own...this video couldn't be more obvious! So much so that he even left out a verse so as not to give it away (the meaning, and who it is for).
This is probably my favorite song, had the studio version off bearshare back in the day and lost it... This is the third best rendition of it. I think Dylan and Cash did it up pretty well though, they're #2.
Ed,you are in your own separate class of musicians...Plant,Neil,Gregg,Daltrey,Townshend...& Dear Kurt.....love...light ...peace ...Hope to see you guys soon.
.....would love to talk to the writer of this song from so long ago as the saddest part is that he never saw her again......reminds me of me and my girl from the North Country.
I've loved Eddie since I saw him live 1992 singing Bob's Masters of War at the Dylan tribute concert at MSG. In a night of memorable performances, that one stood out for me. It's like he was born to sing Dylan
Wow. What a memory!!!
I don't think I've EVER disliked a cover by Eddie Vedder
Thats why i clicked on this..he never dissapoints
As a diehard Dylan guy, I’ve been constantly impressed with your growth and range and your amazing voice. Thanks for covering the oldies. You do them proud.
There is something so incredibly peaceful about his voice.
Mark Butler exactly...very calming and peaceful, so much emotion is conveyed. It really comes out in the Into the Wild album
Stunning. Incredible
WebbS the Into the Wild album is something not of this world beautiful. I feel so blessed to live on the same planet at the same time as Eddie. What a gift.
Eddie your voice cannot be explained by rational words. Its irrazional beauty saved me a thousand times. And more.
yes, yes, yes, there is no one like Vedder.
Oh so true...
No one sings dylan like dylan that is unless your the great Eddie vedder
Giorgia Semonella so true.
Well said! . . . Me too ..
Such a beautiful voice and such a beautifully melancholy song. Takes me way back.
Being such a Bob Dylan fan from my youth I didn't realize one of my kids favorite musicians Eddie Veddie did a cover of Girl from the North Country and I am even more surprised how much I like his cover.

one of the best Dylan covers I've ever heard
The best cover of this song by far, but still by no means is this better than Bobs original.
This is the simple love song that kicked in the doors of folk music.
It's touching my soul. This kind od music cannot be forgotten.
Hungover and just discovered this beautiful cover, perfect cure.
Beautiful song, wonderful voice and wonderful Eddie ❤

I remember when Vs. came out I was in 8th grade and brought the CD to school and it was cool. Glad I grew up in the 90s!
How did I just find this?! Eddie and Bob really could make some magic together ❤
He's made it so much his own that you can't even compare it to the original. They're both great in different ways.
this is simple compred to the complex masterpiece of dylan thares a ton better versions royharper pete townsends versions
Eddie Vedder you have an incredible touching voice ! Thank you
oh my God..its a LOVE PRAYER more than a song !
That’s such a good way to say it! Yes!
I’ve heard many versions of this song, and I have to say this is The BEST Version I’ve heard.
I have been around a long time...lucky enough to have been around to hear it all...but this guy still amazes me...
Con la passione e il rispetto verso un grande artista. Questa cover è semplicemente fantastica.
How can anyone not love this track.
I know that eddie vedder is known for his ground breaking Rock, but I believe his true heart is for the old school music, I think he should have became famous back in the 60s and 70s.

Very well done! good to hear the young guys doing it so well. Love you Eddie.
This is the first time I heard his cover.. he nailed it as this song is hard to do. It's that kickass baritone voice he has just full of wow.
Nothing Better than Vedder. LOVE HIM
I suggest you check my cover. It was a first try from laptop webcam and is better than this travesty.....Hang it up already Eddie. Pearl Jam is the curse that ruined grunge rock...
Stewie Griffin Just checked it, the first thing you learn when learning guitar is how to tune. Try it sometime lol
His voice...my god...so many chills.
Vedder does a great job of staying true to himself and the song at the same time. His roots run deep.
Such an amazing human being....such an amazing soul...such an amazing voice.

This was the era when every vocalist wants to sound like Eddie Vedder! There's only one Vedder!
I like this version best of all the choices on youtube
Check out the Lions

the only cover I really treasure of this beloved song! perfect! Nothing less expected from Eddie the Eagle!

What do you mean by transposing?
FG O'Donoghue I mean taking the song which originally is in the key of G and changing it's key (transposing) down to D which is 5 half-steps.
oh yeah thats what i thought you meant :)
The original is in Bb
Original (on Freewheelin'?) is Bb, but live recordings and the duet with Cash are no capo, G. dylan was the spark of a many a inspired album my many great artists
Beste versie ooit van dit fantastische nummer.
It doesnt get Eddie Vedder than this.

His Dylan covers always work. Great video.
Really top notch cover and adaptation! Thank you!🤍

I just saw this fellow performing, "take me out to the ballgame, etc. The best ever 7th inning stretch.
Bellissima versione di una delle canzoni più commoventi mai scritte
I approve. Eddie Vedder and Bob Dylan is a nice mix.
I’m glad he covered this

Não dá para parar de escutar... simplesmente incrível!!!
Just amazing Eddy!!!
A voice like a beautiful caress...

beautiful cover...he makes it very much his own...this video couldn't be more obvious! So much so that he even left out a verse so as not to give it away (the meaning, and who it is for).

Mendeleyev did an amazing cover as well. Y’all should check that out. The acoustic version.
Eddies voice with Bob's lyrics oh my heart
best ever version of this song , including the original!!!!
This is probably my favorite song, had the studio version off bearshare back in the day and lost it... This is the third best rendition of it. I think Dylan and Cash did it up pretty well though, they're #2.
I love Vedder
so much!
Awesome Eddie! 🎤🎸🎵❤
The man. The myth. The legend. The icon. Vedder!
Belíssimo cover.
Belo Horizonte MG.
One of my very Favorites.
Beautiful!!! 🎼🎤🎸✌️🤘
My, oh my... I needed reminding to restart these moments, here, I got lost there for a time...
excellent cover..
Best cover version by far. This song is very hard to sing, most versions sound somehow cheesy to me. But this man knows what he is singing about!
Do love the voice n he's got his own swag...Sounds good
+lisa kendall more heartfelt than dylan's, i almost prefer this rendition.. eddie vedder is a master of covering songs with his unique sound!
sehr sehr schön
Beautiful voice

an impossible song to cover and he fucking does it. brilliant
Ever hear a band called Lions do it on Sons of Anarchy? Absolutely phenomenal.
I love EV but it's way better than this. Check it out sometime
extremely easy song to cver if you can sing well.
you cant be serious?
andrew c. So serious....Bob cannot and should not be covered. This is better than it should be.
Off the charts
Awesome! Love it
Ed,you are in your own separate class of musicians...Plant,Neil,Gregg,Daltrey,Townshend...& Dear Kurt.....love...light ...peace ...Hope to see you guys soon.
nice cover of one of the king of lyrics' songs by a man who's probably one of the few persons that can write lyrics half as good as dylan's
.....would love to talk to the writer of this song from so long ago as the saddest part is that he never saw her again......reminds me of me and my girl from the North Country.
I Love you Eddie!! I love Pearl Jam
