Love the Aristocracy of the Night!
Give a vampire a spear for always strike first so even if caught out by poor positioning makes the opponent think twice about charging.
Frost grave cultist are so good for representing Dregs, used the box set to make dregs some ghouls and the rest made my Chaos Cults warband.
Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! And thanks for the tip about the spear-that’s a great idea to give the Vampire always strike first. Definitely something I’ll be trying out in future games!
I totally agree, the Frostgrave Cultists are perfect for representing Dregs. I’ve used them for a few builds too, and they really fit the theme well.
Thanks again for the support, and I’ll keep the videos coming!
Shiiit, the vampire with spear trick is as old as the basically. 😋 Im surprized you hadnt heard of it, seeing aas you are so into the undead. Its also somewhat frowned upon, but seeing how you give your vampire a bow, im guessing you wouldnt particularly care. 😜
Zombies beeing several times refered to as meatballs had me giggling. 😉
Nice take on a warband build! I'd watch more like this about other warbands, if you have those planned.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you liked the warband build. I definitely have more videos planned, and I’ll be covering other warbands too-stay tuned! I appreciate the support and hope you enjoy what’s coming next
Title because RUclips but it’s not actually a super optimised list so people shouldn’t be hating on that side of things. If you want optimised you go max ghouls and hammers for everybody else, because that’s Mordheim.
I love the zombie horde mode because it’s fun, especially if you get the zombie whack-a-mole spell so they keep on popping back up 😂. I tend to give my vamp heavy armour and a shield plus a mace. Yes he sacrifices 1”M but I don’t use fire wolves so he doesn’t need the extra speed. It is objectively a waste of money but as it’s a zombie heavy list you have the late cash. Still always take 4ish ghouls though as over time they will always need to grow to be the backbone of the warband
I feel giving your vampire heavy armour and shield is a great investement because of ranged attacks like bows and such. Strenght 3 shooting attacks can devaste an unarmoured vampire but with armour you have a fifty percent chance to avoid it, unless its an critical hit off course.
Maybe my oppnion comes from that I used to play undead warband in a campain where every match was a mulitplayer match and the board was filled with warbands.
Totally get where you're coming from-Mordheim is all about having fun, not always optimizing every single list! I love the idea of the zombie horde mode too, especially with the whack-a-mole spell-nothing beats having them pop back up mid-game! 😂
Your setup with the Vampire sounds solid, and I agree that sometimes sacrificing a bit of speed is worth it for survivability. And yes, ghouls are definitely essential for long-term growth. They really do become the backbone as the game goes on. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!"**
@@tomhelgehennum3263 yeah exactly I like the vamp to feel like an unstoppable brute, which is I don’t like giving a bow as it feels a bit too finesse which doesn’t suit my vamp style even though it’s objectively a great option to take. It’s those darn crits though as you say, that’s what tends to put a stop to them!
Thank you!
Imagine tryharding in Mordheim..... sad
Yeah, I know what you mean. But after a few tough losses recently, I really need a win. I’m also against tryhard strategies, but I don’t consider the Undead to be one. Now, Skaven with slings and two weapons-that’s a different story! 😄 Thanks a lot for the feedback and for watching!
You can go harder into tryhard territory..
5 zombies.
4 Ghouls (groups of 1 to cheese Lads Got Talent rolls)
3 Dregs, armed with clubs and daggers.
Necromancer, with club and dagger.
Vampire, with sword, light armour and shield.
This should leave just enough for a Hireling Warlock.
@@Tychonaut-wg3 5 Direwolves. No Ghouls or Zombies, they're too slow. 3 unarmed dregs to go for objectives. Then you have a Vampire and their doggies moving fast and hitting extremely hard as a group. The Necromancer can come too, since he's only 35 Gold and gives you the last champion for post game actions.
@@Hedgemonkey5 you want the Ghouls to get Hero #6, as they are the only henchmen getting xp. They are fast enough, and T4 base makes them difficult to kill early on.
Wolves are too expensive, easier to kill, and their effectiveness drops off sharply in a campaign.
Those zombies and that direwolf have ace paintojobs!
I sure hope your opponent dont sneak a look at this video to see your tacticals..
I defintivly agree that undead is a great starter warband. Its ironic that the one people usually start with: witch hunters is so bad and the one people usually takes because they think they look cool the undead are so good.
However in the long run undead gets outpaced. Especally if their necro and dregs get bad rolls.
its also the only warband that can be completly wiped out. If you vampire dies you have to play one game with the necromancer as leader and if the necromancer dies then your warband is gone!
Again those zombies look fantastic!
Thanks so much! Really glad you like the paint jobs on the zombies and dire wolf-they were a lot of fun to work on! 😄 I’m hoping my opponent doesn’t sneak a peek at my tactics either, but you never know!
Totally agree that the Undead are a fantastic starter warband. It’s funny how Witch Hunters are often the go-to, even though they’re a bit rough to play, while the Undead seem to surprise everyone with how strong they are. You’re absolutely right about the long-term risks though-losing the Vampire or Necromancer can be game-ending, and the bad rolls for Dregs or the Necromancer can really hurt.
Thanks again for the compliments on the zombies, I appreciate it!
I only played undead once, maybe it was the scenario and that was my first game but i didnt do well with them. I remember the no sprinting being frustrating.
But they are what drew me to the game so maybe ill give them another try!
@@mattmaughan6871 I get it-the no sprinting can definitely feel frustrating at first, especially in your first game. But once you get used to their playstyle, the Undead really shine! They’ve got a ton of durability and resilience, which makes them one of the best starter warbands in my opinion. The Vampire alone can carry the team through some tough fights, and the combination of the Necromancer and the rest of the crew makes them really versatile. Since they were what drew you to the game, I’d definitely give them another try-you might find they’re much more rewarding the second time around!
@@mattmaughan6871 over time you can switch out the non sprinting undead zombies for living sprinting ghouls.
@@tomhelgehennum3263 wait... is it just the zombies that dont sprint? I thought none of them could?
Great video. There really aren’t enough tactics videos for Mordheim. My starter Undead warband forgoes zombies all together. I personally find them too slow and they don’t gain experience.

I’d like to see our two different undead warbands go head to head 😁🧛🏻♂️🐺🧟♂️💀
Thanks so much! I totally agree, there aren’t nearly enough Mordheim tactics videos out there. Your undead warband looks solid, and I get why you’d skip the zombies-they can be frustratingly slow and missing out on experience is definitely a drawback. But I personally love having them as a cheap meat shield, even if they don't level up at the start. I will swap them with ghouls or direwolfs as soon as I get a full warband.
Your list is awesome, though! Ghouls and Dire Wolves definitely pack a punch. I’d love to see our warbands go head-to-head one day-that would be an epic battle!
Your warband is good but have one weakness, your troops are expensive to replace if you loose them. This can hinder your warbands growth, especally since you are dependent on good rolls for your vampire and necromancer if you face strong oppnents. I would switch out a ghoul or two and fill the team up with zombies and as your zombies die off you can replace them with ghouls. Or if necessary you can just fire (bury?) a zombie to replace them with a ghoul if you can afford it. Also I would equip the dregs diffrently for diffrent roles on the battle field but that is just me. I admit it would be more for show than actual use lol. Again nice warband.
