Hi Marcos, thanks for your comment. You can add as much as routes the router allows you, but you have to consider the preferences of the routes so the router knows which route to choose. Please refer to this Juniper document for further information www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/static-routing/topics/topic-map/static-route-prefer-qualified-next-hop.html

in place of directly connected interface to create default route can we use loopback address of directly connected router as next-hop?

Hi Apur, thanks for your comment, loopback interfaces are virtual interfaces that are not bound to any physical interfaces. Two neighbour routers should have IP addresses in the same range which is not possible for loopback interfaces. I think you can use loopback address as the next hop if you have another route for the neighbour router loopback address. However, it is not a common approach.

@@learnet4123 Thanks alot for for replying.
but one thing to notice . if i have two routers directly connected via two ethernet or fibre link and i am running OSPF between Them than from one router lan if i have to go to other router for internet access by default than default static route on loopback is possible in CISCO devices.. but in JUNIPER its not possible...
i have tried this on production environment.
i know i can use default route originate but in juniper i will prefer next-qualified hop as i am having two links between dem

@@apurnevgi3954 Hi Apur, true when we have dynamic routing in place, things are different. I am truly sorry I did not get what was your network requirements and topology from your explanations. So, I cannot confirm what you were after is possible or impossible.
