I learned from watching you and others as I began my partnership with my 🍍 Conure named JelliBean...she keeps me on my toes all day every day. I wouldn't trade it for the world. 🦜 Sending love. ❤

I am so sorry. I lost my jenday conure, Oogle (pictured in my thumbnail), almost 5 years ago and I have not been the same. I have gotten to the point when I no longer cry every day, just most days. She was 23 years old and the love of my life. I have 2 other sun conures, a new baby jenday conure, and a grey cockatiel and I love all of them, but I still miss Oogle terribly. Only a true bird lover can understand the bond we form with them. I will look for Kiwi at the Rainbow Bridge, along with all my other babies.
    "Rainbow Bridge"
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are
made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the
green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

@@mimisbirdhouse I have never been a particularly religious person. I guessed I believed in god, but never really thought about it much. When I became a bird person, and found just how lively, caring, intelligent, full of love and life that a bird really is -- I said to myself, "There must be a god. No one else could create such a joyous and incredible creature." If there really is a god, my heaven would be the Rainbow Bridge. I hope to see you there one day.

@@mimisbirdhouse Here is something that I wrote. I hope you enjoy it.
      For Oogle, my Jenday Conure...
      "This is a Bird"
This is a bird. This is what you get when you have a pet bird...
Birds are one of the few creatures that mate for life. When you have a pet bird, you have a special friend that is yours, all yours, and will be loyal to you for as long as you both live. From just a baby, to an old man, your bird will remain bonded to you. She will never waiver in her loyalty. She is yours for life.
Your bird will feel your joy along with your pain. When you are sad, she is also sad.
Nothing can make your bird give you up, or forget you. Each and every time you return home, your bird will rejoice in seeing you.
If you over-sleep and are late to feed your bird, she will not get angry or blame you.
The only desire in your bird is to be with her special person and please you, any chance and every chance she gets. When she calls out, she is saying, "I love you. I miss you. Please come and play with me."
Your bird will depend on you to look-out for her health and safety. She will trust you to do the right thing for her well-being. Your bird will trust you with her life without question .
Your bird will defy all odds and reason to protect you. She will come to your rescue no matter who or what the opponent, however large or menacing, no matter what the odds. Her only thought is to protect her mate - you. She will sacrifice herself without hesitation to protect you.
You will never find a more loyal or affectionate friend. This is a bird.

It is understandable. I am no longer crying after my budgies (Tiny, Snow, Comet and Hummingbird) and my cockatiel Fred, but I am still missing them, will never forget them. Birds are not just pets, they are full scale family members, at least for me (well most of my pets are). Plus I don't know what that is, but I can't live without parrots, when I didn't have one for a few months when Hummi passed away, my life was so empty. Well until Bruno the Quaker come to my house :D He is um...something else when it come to mischief levels.

A nice tribute to Kiwi. He and my late Jenday Conure,Snarky no doubt flying in heaven and keeping things lively for the angels. my 21 yr old QP, Coco and 15 yr old Green Cheek Conure, Baby Girl in good health so far.As i saw with my late Conure, things change quick, and no warning until it's too late. I miss him like you do Kiwi. They are a lot of company to me as a senior citizen living alone. They have been with me since they were babies after their weaning. Snarky was like Eric Cartman, SouthPark TV show. He kept things in the birdroom, let's say interesting like Eric. i was the only human he'd let handle him. Daddy's boy. He'd watch over the flock and god help whoever tried to hurt the other birds. Snarky would have torn them up. He would not have went down without a fight i'm sorry for your loss of Kiwi. He was well taken care of by you and his flock. We both have good memories, videos, and pictures to fall back on of our feather babies.

@@mimisbirdhouse oh, so young. I am so sorry. He had so many years ahead of him. I had my Tori quaker for 19 and a half. Almost made 20. She developed a tumor and was in pain. The vet did all he could to make her comfortable. She was filling up with fluid, and the last time he aspirated, she never recovered. I do miss her lots. She was like almost human in her feelings. I have a new quaker who just turned a year old. Beautiful green opaline. His name is Topaz.

@mimisbirdhouse so nice to get your new message. Topaz is lots of fun, but so active. He has full flight now but flies everywhere. He has started to show a little more aggressive behavior and wants to be on my shoulder constantly. Not good with doing cooking and daily chores. I have him going to the vet Thursday to have wings clipped. I hate to do it, but flying all over and flying to my shoulder not good all the time. He starts to bite my neck and it hurts. He has a much different personality from Tori. She was more docile. So this little guy is much more active than she. He tires me out! But hoping he will calm as he gets a little older.
