Your description what bottleneck mean was easy to understand, in my opinion. I like how the sweater manufacturing company provided a real-world illustration of how some process steps can become overloaded with work, leading to delays and inefficiencies. For entrepreneurs, the focus on error rates and time wasting is important. The VSM concept was made simple to understand by simulating the sweater-making process with symbols like lightning bolts, eyeglasses, and castle walls. The thorough analysis of every stage, from receiving a customer's purchase to delivering the product, demonstrated how efficiency is impacted by wait times and mistake rates. Cashauna Temple
Nice video! I learned about the use of value streams and the concept of bottlenecks. Value stream maps are useful tools for identifying bottlenecks and finding solutions and bottlenecks occur when there is an overflow of work that is not being processed at the same rate as other steps in a process. Waiting time is a major cause of bottlenecks and a waste of time. - Robert Adams

I learned that the Value Stream Map (VSM) is a valuable tool for identifying and addressing waste in a company's processes. It's important to consider factors like time and cost when constructing a VSM. Bipul Aryal
In this video I learned about the value stream map and specifically how it relates to the business. Value stream maps are diagrams designed to explain where there are bottlenecks and help you figure out ways to solve them. VSMs are important to help you see the flow of the products and where they may be production gaps. In the value stream process factors that show up in this map are time, speed, and quality. I learned that in VSM it is always best to focus on the error rate first to save yourself time and wasted efforts. Error rates are extremely costly and narrow focus. It is important to add man power to error rate to keep your errors to zero. VSM maps help yo business process run efficiently and helps the companies bottom line. (David Huery)
I learned that VSM is a visual representation of how the business might run starting from one customer and going through the process. This is to prevent a bottle neck in your business
In this video, I learned that constructing a dive stream map involves considering various elements, such as the duration allocated to significant tasks and their frequency. It's crucial to prioritize addressing mistake rates initially. Neglecting to focus on minimizing mistake rates can result in the loss of time, money, and inventory.-Cateria Brown
During this video, I learned that you should focus on improving your error rate first because errors in products are extremely costly due to waste of time, inventory, shipping, and associated costs. Jaida Brown
The VSM helps to determine what is worth it in the business. Also what changes need to be made. The VSM is a powerful tool that can help you visualize where the waste is located in your company's process and find solutions to fix those solutions. When constructing a VSM you should consider the amount of time it takes to complete a task, and how much money is being spent on certain activities or processes. -Kameron Porter
Hey, good presentation. I have a doubt how to map the processes when they are acting in parallel? If the process is not one after the other but acting along at the same time.
Hi Sony Saju. Thank you for watching my videos and for commenting. Are the processes related or independent? The VSM is a tool that measures interrelated steps in a process and is designed to highlight waiting time and bottle necks. If the processes are not exactly linked, you might consider a Gantt chart. Would you like me to create a video on a Gantt chart? If you can tell me a little more about the specific process, I can help you troubleshoot, suggest an alternative tool, or create a new one.
@@DrDUniversity Thank you for your reply. I believe VSM is the right choice, the study is done for a logistic company. The process are interrelated and they are quality check of received goods and scanning of the barcode of the received products, it happens parallel at the same time. So should I see it as a single process or separate process in VSM?
Hi Sony Sanju. It sounds like these are two steps in a much larger process. I would do one block for the scanning of the barcode. You may have noticed I discuss that quality control checks can also be illustrated as sub steps or they may be shown above the process with a glasses icon to indicate a quality control measure. Alternatively, you could designate the quality check and the barcode scan as a single sub step in the process and designate the appropriate time and error rate. I am not sure there is a right or wrong way on this one - it just depends on what you are trying to communicate. Does this help?
@@DrDUniversity Hey, I got a picture now. The sub step method feels right, as i can divide the time between the process i believe it will work and I will try that one out. Thank you for your time and help. Also, is it ok if I ask your help and support if I have more doubts?
