There is an amazing power we wield as parents to either form men/women of stature, stability, confidence and strengths, or the opposite. Very sobering. Amazing video, thank you!
So much clear, accurate, and useful history in a short video. Well done. There is no other channel which uses such a clear, time-driven narrative that is so illuminatingly and aptly enhanced with photography.
Brilliant video! As I said in the Queen Victoria video I was really looking forward to this and so glad it's come out, as King Edward VII is my favourite King! It's a shame there isn't too much to discuss in his reign compared to others as its all made brief anyway but the next video should have more depth to his reign hopefully as it was a lot longer. Love the videos and onto George V!
I think people should also remember he laid his young child in his coffin himself and didn't let his mother bully him and his wife into public mourning
Perhaps it was the guilt of abandoning their eldest son, who was born unannounced in June 1862, baptized with an assumed name assumed name and abandoned to foster parents. On her return to Europe, Alexandra and Edward became engaged, later marrying, thus legitimising their eldest son, whose descendants have irrefutable DNA evidence of their zero distance between them and the Royal Family relatives. Irrefutable DNA evidence.
His philandering got the headlines but he ended the hanoverian cycle of the monarch and their heirs quarreling. When he got to the throne, he made sure prince George got to see copies of his red box documents so he would be prepared for the challenges of being king- a right denied to him by his mom. He actually did pretty well as a king who was kept out of the loop and relied on personal connections and charisma. Queen Victoria also had a shitty childhood but she let it define the rest of her life by being vindictive and selfish. Edward VII was able to rise out of his bad upbringing and not pass the bitterness to the next generation.
Since Edward took Winston Churchill mother as a mistress it has been said that he was secretly the kings son. When asked on the matter he remarked “although present on the occasion, I have no memory of it.”
My great grandmother had a daughter with one of Queen Victoria’s sons or grandsons. We just need to check the census to see who she worked for to figure it out
I just read the book The Heir Apparent and a few cool things: There’s a whacky theory that Eddy was involved in the Jack the Ripper killings lol. Also, one of Bertie’s friends got caught cheating at cards and they all got together and made him sign a paper promising that he’d never play again lol😂. Lastly, that King Edwards terrier dog Ceasar followed his coffin at his funeral, and people choked up at this. I’ve also seen it said that his dogs led the carriage. Either way, pretty cool.
He and his great great grandson, King Charles III are very similar. Except the Late Queen Elizabeth II was kind to King Charles. Both were elderly when they ascended the throne with health issues. Both succeeded very capable mothers, both were playboys during their younger years.
Hello. Yes you are correct, this was an error on my part. I will edit it out of the video and add it to the errors and corrections section of the video description. Thank you for pointing this out. Cheers
I wonder how things would have gone if gender then didn’t matter and the first born Vicky was the heir from birth? Thanks for the video and looking forward to the next one!
@@tomtinley3262no, she wouldn’t have been married off to the future emperor, her husband would’ve been chosen from someone who’d remain in the UK with no foreign allegiance, like how her father Prince Albert had been.
Yes, often. So much so that Bertie, while being isolated during his youth had developed a thick German accent while speaking English. The German influence, however lessened as Bertie strayed away from his parents control and went out more, but even until his death it was noted that he still had remnants of said accent.
Some have speculated that stories of Eddy's slow learning and poor development is propaganda that was proliferated during the early reign of George V. This was meant to legitimize George as King and strengthen the image of his marriage to Mary of Teck. "The rightful man ends up in his rightful place"
Of further interest is Bertie and Alexandra had an unannounced son, in 1862, born and babtised in South Africa, before being abandoned. Upon their marriage, then ascendency to the Throne, this son likely became the Rightful and Legitimate Heir to the Throne. His descendants have the irrefutable evidence of DNA to both the UK and Danish Royal Family as well as the Romanov Family...
@@zzzbbbooooh, so your opinion is more valid in evidence than the irrefutable DNA evidence of the eldest son, born unannounced and baptized in June 1862, given an assumed name and sadly abandoned. There is no question about this, irrefutable DNA evidence.

This is my favorite channel on RUclips. Like a warm blanket. Thank you for all the content!!
A very balanced video that made me see King Edward in a new light 👍
Bertie! Yay! Once you finish with them can you do the Habsburgs please
Been waiting for this! Thanks for making this video. Edward the VII was an awesome monarch, especially the way he dressed.
There was an error wherein it was mentioned 1825 instead of 1925 ruclips.net/video/SzJjZDTsjSo/видео.htmlsi=tprU10lEHafJxWCo&t=3037
You should make a tier list of all the kings and queens when your done

You could say it’s because Victoria was the last Hanoverian, George was sauxe coberg-gotha
Bertie probably had Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which was unknown then.
no he was just a pleasure junkie
👏👏 I note that his father was not bored or idle and kept very busy 🤨
Because Victoria gave him things to do but didn’t give Bertie anything to do because she didn’t like him
Since Edward took Winston Churchill mother as a mistress it has been said that he was secretly the kings son. When asked on the matter he remarked “although present on the occasion, I have no memory of it.”
Winston Churchill resembled other members of the Spencer-Churchill family
His mom had issues.
Oh yes, many issues.😊
So did HE.
I think it’s safe to say the entire family had issues.
She was a Hanoverian, they all had issues...

39:53 - is that a real photo of Victoria?
Queen Alexandra died in 1925 not 1825
Tragic to think Ireland was subjected to these disfunctional people until 1921.

And Edward’s Mistress, Alice Keppel IS in fact Camilla’s Great grandmother. That in itself is the wildest similarity imo. 😮

how united is it? both scotland and northern ireland ate talking about leaving
basically, he's George the 4th, but amplified by 100.

In English law legitimised children can not inherit titles

50:32 Alexandra died in 1925. Narrator said 1825 🤓
All European nations were building great navies. Read Mahan book.
I’m not a big fan of Edward the seventh.
Why?
I can’t remember the name of the channel but there’s A RUclipsr goes over the hypocrisy of the British monarchy.
If it disregards how things worked back then, or if it doesn't understand how Monarchies work in general, I wouldn't be surprised.
It is actually pretty good.
Hopefully. I'll see it one day and see for myself.
Until King Charles you mean....
I had to stop listening. What horrible parents he had. Sad. Well done video, though.
