    hahaha.. your reaction on the setup page is exactly how I feel with rfactor2. It is such an amazing driving sim, but the set up and UI is a pain in the ass. Other than that, great game with probably the best driving physics and force feedback in sim racing ( in my opinion). Good review and test. Thanks.

    Was just going to mention Michi's video 😁 he made some initial setup changes to, I wish I understood why he made those particular adjustments. Zaandvoort is apparently half the size now it originally started out with, in mean in terms of the history of the track.
    You need to make sure TC is disable in the assists menu I think, the car may not have it but the game can add if you want it. And if the car does have TC and you want to control it fully yourself you need to turn it off and use the in-games control to manage it

    I'm really liking the new Cup. I found the previous 991 to be completely lacking in feel on the front end and way too light. These cars are supposed to have great front ends and turn in, but I just found it to be a mess. This one feels a lot more balanced, and they gave it a decent default setup. My non-abs braking ability is in the toilet as I spend most of my time in GT3, and my front tires are completely shot and flat spotted after a 30 minute stint. Really made me take a step back and work on fundamentals. I still want an ABS version like in the 991, though LOL!
    I'm starting to fall out of love with ACC after spending a bunch of time in iRacing (on latest tire model) and rFactor 2. The cars in ACC just feel like the center of mass is down in beneath the floor or something. Weight transfer, tires skipping along the ground (especially at Sebring), bouncing over curbs with 2 wheels in the air like you see IRL just doesn't seem to be a thing in ACC. Feels like driving around a big cardboard box.

    • @GTGREG
      @GTGREG  Год назад

      Ya, agree on all points. The previous generation had 0 turn in, felt like you were only scrubbing tire off. This one arguably has too much turn in! I think I need to adjust some steering with this guy, I noticed the ratio in car was 540

    • @charliebeckey6269
      @charliebeckey6269 Год назад

      Yea I agree too, car movement seems much more alive in iracing and RF2. Although the 992 cup car in ACC is still really fun. Greg I noticed your comment about the FFB getting really weighty under braking too in Rf2. Not sure if that's realistic.
      This is a great car to master trail braking!

    • @GTGREG
      @GTGREG  Год назад +1

      @@charliebeckey6269 I think it'd too much. Not realistic but I have to say, I own a 911 and take it out on the weekends in good weather in the back roads of Pennsylvania and Delaware, I don't drive too crazy but I'm still moving. When braking into a turn, the steering definitely grips up, I believe it balances the chassis for max grip, the steering gets heavier but only by like 10-20% if I were to guestimate. I would imagine on slick tires (which I'll test this year at NJMP), it would probably grip up like 50%, just a guess. I know it's just a street car but still kind of indictive of what the chassis does. It certainly wouldn't grip up to like 80nm though. I've read that some people have tuned it out somehow. I'd love to know how because in gt3 and gte cars, it spoils the experience.

      @@GTGREG Nice! You should make a video about the track day at NJMP. Should be pretty insane with the slicks. Does your 911 have rear wheel steer? I have a gen 987 Cayman. Living in east central Iowa right now for a few years so not the best driving roads :(

    There are not much setup options on a cup car.
    Important ones are the tyre pressure all the way down as a standard.
    And start with minimum ARB settings.
    Most settings in RF2 can best be found running from low to high.
    Increase them to your liking.
    Other thing to consider is the FFB settings.
    Put your wheel base to maximum power, for headroom, and decrease the car specific FFB to around 60 or even lower to prevent clipping.
    The in-game FFB settings functions as a amplifier.

    I know a driver who has driven every PCup car the last 10 years, its a team coach and even got a podium in the Supercup USGP support race, he said the iR car is not remotely what 992 Cup is. It would be interesting to get his feedback on this car.

      Basically all Iracing cars are not even close what they are in RL. I racing is a terrible example for simracing. Just look at the tyres. How long they took to admit that they suck.

    I have a love/hate relationship with RF2, when it works it feels great but the problem is it often doesnt work. I've been trying wet races recently and whenever I started a race in full wet the other cars cant even make it to the first corner, its a spin fest

      Are you using first party or third party tracks? You can also modify the config files to adjust how often the AI makes mistakes. I know it's a pain in the ass setting it up, as I've been in a love/hate relationship with this title since it came out, but it CAN be rewarding once you chop your way through all the bullshit.

      Thanks Stefan, i have seen that and my triples were hard to get initially setup. There are further mods that dan dosent mention in there, such as setting subviews=2 and using control alt = to adjust the path when the software somehow forgets that you have multiple monitors. Multi view is buggy and the workaround is easy. Plus that interface is old.
