- Murray 1 Power Station is part of the iconic Snowy Mountains Scheme and this video is a record of it's construction which began in December 1962 with completion in August 1967.
The station consists of ten turbo-generator units each capable of producing 95MW. Each unit uses 243,500 litres of water whilst generating at maximum load of 95MW. It would take 1 Murray 1 unit 40 seconds to fill an Olympic swimming pool.
The two large pipelines provide water to two banks of four units, with the smaller pipeline supplying the remaining two units i.e. units 1 & 2. Each pipeline is 1.56km in length.
