    Toggles at the bottom is gold ! It really shows the essence af the way us "sparetime-wannabee-woodworkers" :-) should think. Messing around with bolts and wrenches just takes to much of the precious time one can use in the shop.
    The homemade T-tracks are nice. We wanna buy tools all the time :-) , but most people have a budget. IM gonna copy your idea to my Miter station.

    I just recently acquired a drill press and had looked at several videos for a table. I liked all the features in your version so I made one based on that. I had to make some adjustments underneath to accommodate the handle that raises and lowers the table, but other than that I went off your design. Turned out great, thanks for the video!

    I really like the video and the idea of keep the cost to a minimum. Keeping that in mind I was wondering if it is a big deal using Birch plywood as opposed to standard sheet plywood. The reason I ask is I have a piece of 3/4 inch stand plywood left over from a previous project and was wondering if it would make a big difference?

  • @rbcorn8886

    Table is will thought out and simple to build. I wonder however how you would address the crank handle being constricted but the table. For example the WEN model 4212 crank that raises and lowers the table would hit the table unles some modification is made. I'm wondering what modification would be made.

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal 5 лет назад

      For my drill press, the crank handle on the back right of the table does not hit the table. Comes very close though. This is one reason I used toggle clamps for mounting the table, you can slide the table forward if needed, adjust the height then slide it back and lock it into place.

  • @Clyde_Lewis

    Thank you, Mary, so much for this well-planned design! I like the clamps under the table, as has been said here previously, as it is a huge time-saver! I have a smaller, table-top drill press which does not have the rack and pinion height adjustment nor much in the way of accurate horizontal table tilt level adjust. Are there any modifications I might be able to make to add those features to my existing drill press before investing in a larger, more feature-laden model? Thanks again!

    great video! I'm curious though, doesn't a lot of junk get down into your t-tracks when you're drilling? That would drive me a little nuts! I feel like one clamp on the fence should be enough to hold a work piece, no? put a stop block on one side, hold it down on the other (via the fence), and then you don't need the tracks in the table?

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal 6 лет назад

      Great questions.
      1. Yes, I usually have a shop vac nearby, that does the trick until I'm able to set up more permanent dust collection.
      2. I find the multiple tracks very versatile depending on the size and thickness of the workpiece. Sometime I'll use a stop block on the fence, and a hold down clamp in one of the table's tracks.

  • @BruceAUlrich
    @BruceAUlrich 6 лет назад +1

    I love the toggle clamp idea. Why do you have a need to remove the table? Are there some applications that call for removing it? I don't have a table, so I'm unsure. Also, I thought I was already subscribed to your channel. I know I follow you on IG. I am subscribed now!

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal 6 лет назад

      I'm not exactly sure yet! But it seemed to bid a big deal for Matthias Wandel who prefers NOT to use a table. I like to keep my options open I guess. I figure if I need to make holes in oversized pieces, or oddly shaped pieces that don't fit. Perhaps some vertical drilling too. Once I use it more, I'll let you know!
      P.S. thanks for subbing!

  • @robertfielder8398
    @robertfielder8398 6 лет назад +1

    Marie - very nice! Thanks for posting!
    My drill is small than yours, so I will have to modify the plans a little.
    One question - does the table get in the road of the handle for raising and lowering the table?

    • @DIYMontreal
      @DIYMontreal 6 лет назад

      Thanks Robert! To answer your question, no the table does not prevent the handle movement, but I don't push the table all the way back against the column. I think I might actually add a third cleat underneath across the front so I know how far I can push back the table and still be able to raise/lower the table.

    • @robertfielder8398
      @robertfielder8398 6 лет назад +1

      Marie - thanks! I suspect the handle on my drill press is oversized, and a candidate for replacement.
      The idea of a cleat or block to stop the table from going to the column makes sense. Guess my next step is to measure my drill, and see what can be done.
      Can I ask that you update the video when you receive the hold-downs? It will be interesting to see how they integrate with the blocks and fence.

    Hace un tiempo compré en AMAZON una mesa para taladrar de columna (Tabla de Prensa de Broca Wen, Modelo: DPA2412T) y la instalé en mi máquina de perforación, pero no puedo configurarla para realizar perforaciones alineadas. Me gustaría saber cómo se debe colocar la tabla metálica del taladro, si está centrada, qué aspectos debo considerar. Hasta ahora he tratado de buscar información en español, inglés y en otros idiomas y no ha tenido éxito. La mayoría de los tutoriales se centran en la construcción y en algunos casos hablan de nivelación. Pero solo necesito información sobre cómo configurar, ajustar, para que al usar la mesa con la ayuda de la cerca pueda perforar fácilmente las secuencias de agujeros, lo que a su vez le da más carácter al trabajo artesanal que hago todos los días. taladro de banco. Por esa razón, me gustaría saber cómo encuadrar la mesa de madera en relación con la mesa metálica que viene originalmente con el equipo. Saludos y espero tu respuesta.

    Solid build and a good upgrade for your drill press. Coming from a metalworking background, you need those hold down clamps. A workpiece can be pulled upwards and then will be spinning on your drill at 500 rpm while you duck for cover and hope the drill won't break. A drill press vice will work too, Paskmakes has a wooden one: ruclips.net/video/A-raBSNZpfI/видео.html just add groves for t-nuts.
