Some dads took their sons to the footy or the cricket, my dad took me to motorbike races. Every easter in the late 70's and early 80's the whole family would pile into the car for the drive to Bathurst. The sidecars were my favorite and Taylor and Frazer were my first sporting heroes. My sister liked Chivas and Halliday. I remember this race, we were sitting at Hell Corner. It's great to be able to watch it again. I was almost as nervous this time as I was the first time. I was 12.

Great racing. Bathurst is so clinical now.

I miss sidecar, heck, I miss Grand Prix motorcycle racing, (which is what it was called until the term motogeepee came along). 1000 c.c. sidecars for support classes, now we get spec racing and singles, lol.

How about the chopper on the track at the start of the race!

Motorbikes at Bathurst seems dangerous enough. Add sidecars then for the lols at a helicopter that only takes off one the race starts.
The 20th century seems so long ago now lol
