It definately does start in gear. I have a yz250f strictly trail ride it. Its bone stock besides a brake lever and muffler. Ignore most of this stuff because hes blowing smoke up your butt. Doesnt stall easy has good suspension starts in gear lots of torque and tons of power. Mines an 09 aswell. All of these things hes talking about is user error. Im 6'3 240lbs and its a great bike

People are talking crap, but this seems to be a common thing. People cant go and buy 3 different bikes for different off road styles. Whats more for someone like myself who lives near Chicago, there are a loads of yz250f for sale locally, and not a single wr250r. So figuring out how well you can rock one of these on a trail is relevant.

I have a 2011 yz250f that I have used for a while now I do desert, very variable terrain, rocky, very sandy or very technical with roots or very high speed flats. I got to the point where the 450s where letting me behind in the flats. Everyone told me to upgrade to a 450, but what I did is a swap the gear box of a wr250f into my yz250f, its a complete beast now, i don't plan on getting a 450 now that get caught up with the big bikes on the flats because on technical and whoops they get smoked. I love my bike light strong responsive and now faster!

Agree to all the points here, have owned this model which I have used for Enduro for years, now has Rekluse old Z start and modified suspension and works quite well . Think you can make a 250 F work well for Enduro riding to a certain level, but it just lacks too many features of a true enduro bike, Its really as Vegas explains.

This should be more like what to consider when buying a bike. These are not cons, these are just things to think how are you going to ride and where. The yz 250f is a great bike, its just not an enduro.

If u don't like the suspension turn your compression and rebound screws out 4 turns or more if that isn't soft enoth. If u don't know where they are located they are at the top and bottom of both forks and the rear suspension has compression and
Rebound screws aswell. I ride a 09 250f in the bush sometimes most of the time on the track I love it for bush and track just adjust your suspension

I had a battery die six miles from the truck In deep mud that inhibited push starting because it gummed up the rear tire on the swing arm. @@vegasromaniac I say that only to highlight my belief that having a kickstart is not as negative a feature as I’ve seen a lot of people point out. I’ve always preferred mx bikes over trail bikes or dual sports for trail riding but that’s just because of my ride style. Electric start is cool as long as it works but I don’t think it’s worth it unless paired with the backup. Again just my personal opinion, good video man.

I used to ride a yz85 its a good track bike but absolutely useless on enduro/trail and now that i ride more enduro then track i bought the 250 and its allot better. Today i went first time for a tight forest trail ride and didnt really have a problem even tho the bike needs allot clutch work skill it dosnt relly bother be as i learned it on the 85 because it neded to be in high revs all the time.where my friend "26 years" on a 2008 rmz 250 had a problem in them trails and stalled allot because of lack of clutch work.
