First video that I see that makes sense for me! I kinda feel like all other reviewers were not representative of my persona with such a device! Well done!

I really want a Duo I think it looks like a fantastic productivity device. Most use cases though could easily be done on a Surface Tablet during the working day. But this would be great for travelling when you might need to do some emergency work and don't have room for a laptop or tablet for some reason.

I remember when the iPhone first came out and there were no cases for all-screen phones. I had a friend carrying theirs in a sock.

If other “tech experts” hate it so much, why do they have Amazon affiliate links in their description? Why not be objective and just take time to get to know the device? You don’t have to like it but you can at least educate about it. Kudos to your video. Actual useful information we can use. Thank you so much!

thank you for such REAL review. All 1m+ reviewers just open instagram + twitter in split mode and then do final verdict. Your review is one of the best! Now I am still deciding whether to go with Fold 2 or this device.

Thank you sir for the fair video. I am unable to put my surface down, use it constantly. Sometimes I don't need to do anything on it and I just hold it, thinking of something to do on it. I know that sounds silly but it's that much of a joy to use. I work with spread sheets quite a bit and it's such a handy device to have a sheet open on one screen with other info on the other screen. I really think if enough people will give this device a chance, it would be a big hit

God bless the early adopters , because they creat the demand for the technology so we can use them regularly in the future and reply to the manufacturers about the quirks of the device .
With most if the reviewers trashing the surface duo and considering how much hate it received , i was sure that only the people who actually put their money and time into reviewing this can give us a fairer judgement .
Sure surface duo is still in its infancy and there are lot of things that must be fixed and its damn expensive but to say that its garbage is unfair and while i guess that MS really doesn't intent to make surface duo a best seller for now and doesn't plan to sell the surgace duo for imminent profit and its not for everyone even after the issues it has fixed i really don't like the idea of this device failing because what it signifies is the will to innovate and keep going furthur and even if its for profit ( which is why companies exist ) you have to appreciate companies like MS , LG or Samsung or any other companies that are putting time and effort and resources to develop the technology . You know , not like some magus corporations that after picking up features that existed on other platform for nearly a decade and call it m4GiC !!!
Great video ! Keep up the good work !

Great video review of your actual work flow and use cases of the Duo.
I've had the Duo since launch day and it's completely changed how I use my mobile devices.
Email, Slack, messaging, video meetings, document review and light editing, all of them are a joy to do on the Duo.
Also I love the dual screen two app multitasking, much better than the iOS solution, or even the Galaxy Fold solution. This is much more akin to dual screening with a laptop or desktop.
    My iPhone is largely unused
    Keep on making great vids1

Very interesting. Great video. I am a recent subscriber who really likes the practical and down-to-earth way you review things. Great job on this video.
I am a long time Samsung Note user. Do you think I would be the kind of person who would enjoy this device? I am afraid that I will miss all the benefits of the Note - e.g. the s'pen. I want productivity but I also want to take fantastic pictures and watch video and enjoy it. The Samsung Note has the best screen, the best cameras and the best productivity features built-in. The S-Pen is amazing and although I don't use it every day - I get great value from it. I love the screen off note-taking when I am shopping or making an impromptu list and don't want to go into my OneNote immediately. The Galaxy Note is a dream phone. However, I am interested in the Surface Duo phones. I was a windows phone user for the longest time - right p to the Nokia 1520. Best phone ever! I use the Microsoft launcher on my phone so am interested in the Microsoft Duo.
I am a surface user so have surface pens around me. It feels like a version 1 device and I think I will wait for version 2 BUT Imam a productivity guy. That is why I love the Samsung Note devices., I am always using it in split-screen mode and I love doing so. The screen is big and bright and I can do all I need in the one device. Dex is now wireless so I can connect to my TV and use my phone as a trackpad. I was looking at the Galaxy fold and hoping it becomes the new note but the multitasking on the DUo seems even better. I'm torn and will need some convincing. For now, I am a bystander looking in on the Duo. I did not upgrade to the Note 20 Ultra as the Note 10+ is still a fantastic phone which I am very pleased with. I feel like the Duo would be a downgrade for more money. What do you think?

    •  4 года назад

I think it sounds like the Galaxy Note is working very well for you and that you may have an issue on where to put the pen on the Duo as there are no place to keep it on the device. If your Note were to fail I recommend you to evaluate a Duo, since the dual screen is a great way to bring up multiple apps or get a larger keypad. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts :)

This would be a perfect replacement for my iPhone but I do NOT like Android, I wish this had Windows mobile. I have a Windows mobile phone and like my iPhone, it is easy to use, I have had several android devices and they remind me too much of Linux... I can use it but it feels.. not so user friendly. I may still get this, I'll go to the MS Store and get a feel of it IRL.
    Great video.
Oh, ok, onenote can be sync to onenote on my pc to change handwriting.... hmmm making this look better. I hand write faster than typing and I really can use this.
feeling more like I will get one...

Yeah, indeed, when you are used to Windows Phone, what I had for a long time and still have my Old Windows Phone. I'm not found of Android I have now, it's better than the Iphone 6 I had. But it's what you used to. The Windows Phone is what I used, because the easy integration with everything of Microsoft, is way way easier and connecting to Network as an IT Pro and even connecting to Business Network as Email from Exchange is way way easier.

I had the same concerns about Android but watching this video I didn't really see the OS coming into play - it was all App centric and that's what has convinced me to take the plunge. I live my life in: OneNote, Teams, Outlook, Edge (in that order). I haven't used a 'mobile' as a mobi phone for over a year - everything is Teams or Zoom these days so my (personal) iPhone is going to be traded in. My only worry is that I'll be disappointed with Android OneNote but I have an Surface Pro X that is the ultimate OneNote device. tbh I have not been excited by a 'phone' since my Microsoft/Lumia RIP Windows phone - some of us still miss you

Really nice review. I’ve had the Duo for about 3 weeks now and so far so good. I purchased it with the hope of being more productive w/note taking, to-dos etc. It is not my daily driver as I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Also use iPad Pro 12.9 and Surface Laptop 3 15” daily. Everyone in my circle is IOS and iMessage. And, I am reliant on my Apple Watch w/cellular. If I keep the Duo then I will prob drop the iPhone 11 Pro Max and pick up an SE 2 or wait for the new 12 mini. And I’ll drop the iPad Pro 12.9 for the new iPad Air. Really want to lighten my travel bag. I do have a question since the Duo has eSim and Sim tray can I use two tele numbers in the Duo? Again, I enjoyed your review. Thx Troy

Sounds like you are covered on the device front :) I believe you can use both esim and sim at the same time. Have not had the chance to test it though.

Good video. Would you reccomend the Surface Duo as your only phone, or do you think it is best to wait for the second model?

    •  3 года назад

Thanks. I use it as my only phone, but when working out or walk out in the woods or skiing, I use a Sony Xperia XZ1 which I had laying around. It's just a too nice a phone to bring to rugged environments. I don't know much about the next version of DUO, but it will probably have more up to date tech 🙂

Bestilte du gjennom Bigapplebuddy? og har du søkt noe om potenstielle reparasjoner hvis det skulle skjedd noe? Er Microsoft villige til å reparere om du sender til USA?

    •  4 года назад

    • @andyH_England

I agree, it makes no sense! No one in their right mind would want to use this for productivity. On the road needing to address 2-3 Excel sheets with notes and multiple other apps would be a lesson in wasting valuable time. It just does not come close to replacing a laptop for productivity. Obviously, if you are just doing basic tasks like watching a video and taking notes then this will do it, but $1400! I can get $400 machines that will do that and do it much better!
This is for those with money to burn that can have this as a tertiary device with a proper phone and laptop nearby. It will need replace 99.9% of workflows for the business user, which I where I am focusing on. Something like the Thinkpad X Fold for $1000 more with 5g, keypad and pen support, W10, no horrid gap that kills full-screen apps, better spec, etc is a bargain compared to the Duo.
