I immediately started crying when I saw that you have scarring alopecia as well. It has been a battle for multiple years for me and I have finally made the decision for my long-term hair stylist to donate what hair I have and to shave it all off next Tuesday. I originally was going to get my hair trimmed and a keratin treatment. I've changed it up with her and already talked to her. I thought I was completely alone in this scarring alopecia journey. I am ready to show my scars from multiple surgeries and not be sad about alopecia and all my hair loss. Very few know and my Mom doesn't. It will be a surprise next Tuesday for her. Lol! I've been bald before so I am ready. Please let me know what clippers and products I should buy to maintain it. You are beautiful and worthy. Happy New Year!
Your bald is immensely beautiful! I really appreciate you for this video and all the raw emotion of it. I finally decided yesterday that I would shave my head. I was also diagnosed with scarring alopecia. I’ve considered shaving my head for almost 2 years. I got a silk press this week and the thin areas seemed worse and it just frustrated me to the point of wanting all the hair gone. Like you, I’m tired of trying to camouflage and ultimately hide behind wigs, hats and scarves. I bought clippers tonight and will shave it myself tomorrow. I was nervous about the dip in my head, but you commenting on yours has given me peace about it. Thank you and God bless you!
Aawww yaay!!! This is amazing!!! Yees, shave it oooff! Be safe tho, shaving yourself for the first time you may notice some moles (like I did 😅) !! Also, you can still enjoy the wigs.. just not as cover ups but instead as accessories 😊
@@lifeofrandy Accessories indeed. I honestly have never liked wigs. I called them hats with hair to make them more acceptable to me. Lol Thanks for the reminder, I will def take it slow and be on the lookout for moles!
I just went bald for 14-16 inches. I’m in love with my head I never knew how beautiful the shape of my head is. What a waste all these years. My take is that you were crying because you were shading years of holding on to something that wasn’t serving you. That’s why I shaved my head, I went from thick luscious hair to anemic hair.
Hi Randy.......I hope all is well. I’m here to tell you that I truly understand what you went through with your hair as I too went through the same..........standing in front of the mirror and watching my hair fall out by the handful! I cried the same way! I felt your pain as our hair is our beauty.......or so I thought! As a black woman....that’s what we were taught! Anyway......remember that beauty is an inner thing! And you my sister....... are gorgeous with or without hair! You’re an intelligent black woman with a beautiful heart. You’re even more beautiful with your bald head! We love you and please keep those videos coming! You’re brave to share your life with us and we appreciate you.....we love you.....we’re happy that you do have a supportive husband who understands you....that’s a blessing! So....enjoy the journey...stay safe and many blessings to both of you.
Thank you so much for your sweet message!!❤ Yes, I want to change this idea that our hair is our beauty or crown, that statement has damaged many beautiful little (and big) girls and has led them to be ashamed and not embrace their true inner and outer beauty. I do want to say tho, that cry was joy of letting go of the energy my hair was bringing me (sadness, anger and shame.. not always but most times) I'm so excited to normalize being bald, it's really not bad 😊 it's pretty awesome!! ❤❤❤
I know this comment is 3 years late, but bald SUITS you! I’m in genuine awe over here. It’s almost like it was meant to be, because the women with no hair or very low fades always-and I do mean always-have the most contagious smiles, lovely eyes and cutest head shapes. It never fails! I don’t know what the future holds for my hair, but if I ever find myself in the same position, I just hope I can pull it off even half as well as you do. Thank you for sharing this experience with us ❤
Thank you so much!! I think the best thing is to try and if it looks really bad, wigs are always a good option 😅 But I’m thankful I was relieved to cut my hair and not even more ashamed 🤎
I went bald February 18, 2021 and I absolutely love it. I've also been using jojoba and rosemary oil on my scalp and I see a difference. But to be honest I'm loving the baldness 🥰 you wear it well by the way.
I was diagnosed with alopecia and I have been dealing with it for 6 years now.I have shaved my hair off two times but now I'm letting it grow back.I wear wigs because I want go out in public due to my baldness in the front of my head.I cried to when I cut my hair off so I know how you feel.
Oh yeah?! That's awesome that you cut your hair. I haven't fully tried to regrow my hair, cause I prefer my bald head.. I wear wigs depending on my outfit and mood 🤣😅 Do you always wear wigs in public?
@@dianneh2478 I had my husband shave mine with a razor last week for my baby shower. But before that it had been a while I used a razor. Lately I've just been doing the buzzer
Oh wow just looked it up!! There are so many forms of this damn alopecia 😩. Thanks for sharing!! I got to learn something today 🤎 Also, shaving my head was the best decision I made for my self esteem. Plus now I can wear whatever hair I want IF I want to wear any at all.. and it cuts the prep time for it 😏 Hope your goes well 🤎🤎🤎
The best thing I ever did was shave my head. Due to fibromyalgia I get sore hair. I have very thick hair so once it gets to long it hurts and I get head aches. I now also have a bald spot on the side of my head lol. I think you look amazing.
I shaved with clippers March of this year after my AA accelerated in January. Not wanting to still see the patches, I decided to use a razor. Big mistake. I hated how I looked and feeling my scalp. Now none of my hair has grown back. Worse decision I have ever made.
Oh wow! Was it your first time shaving your head? Are you thinking about /have you chosen to wear wigs? When I shaved my head I thought, in case I don't like it, I will run and get a wig 😅 It's definitely a hard decision to make especially not knowing the outcome. That first time feeling my head definitely felt weird.
@@lifeofrandy First and only time with a razor. I first used clippers this March. I ordered some wigs shortly after. I wear a wig sometimes. Other times a scarf, hat or some head covering. I’ll never go bald.
Also I saw your other comment but for some reason was unable to answer it there. Sometimes I have long videos so I usually put in the comments where to skip to, in this case I try the wig on at about 11mins30sec . For that wig video I had the unboxing first, just because sometimes we may buy a wig not knowing what else comes with it so we'll order more things that we don't need so I like to go over what that wig price includes that way people decide if it's worth the money spent or not. When going to beauty supplies you see/feel the wig before purchasing and all you get is the wig but online you never know.

I have scarring alopecia. I have shaved my head previously but it’s grown back, just not everywhere. How was it the first time you went out bald in public? I’ve been too embarrassed to try so I’ve always worn a wig. I want to build up that courage but I’m not sure how to do it.
Oh wow! Well everyone has their own time. I actually was going to work that day so I went out in public right after I was done shaving my head.😅 It can be scary honestly, but you have to ask yourself, why? For me I thought, why am I scared, is it because I'm expecting people's reaction to be negative, if so why? 1- why am I expecting something negative 2- why do I care what others think of MY hair (or lack thereof) I gained more confidence by shaving my head because I haven't had to hide or cover up my bald spots . Now when I go out I wear wigs if the outfit calls for it, if not, I just go out bald. I feel that if you feel good about the way you look, it will show and people will react accordingly. But if you need more time to be comfortable take that time, don't be stressed over that. But I hope you get to the point of showing it off. Bald is beautiful!! 🥰
I wish I didn't care what others thought, that must be liberating! I need you to come to Texas so we can walk around bald together. I guess its like ripping the band aid off! I've even considered shaving my hair and dying it blonde to see if that would mask it but my common sense tells me otherwise .
@@kirejohnson7768 😅😅😅 I've thought of doing the same!! But yeah the patched will be visible then too.. I don't think you should rush it if it's stressful to you. Maybe you should try going to a town where nobody knows you and maybe go to a grocery store there. And slowly roam around until you're comfortable in your town.
Yes I have, I went to 4-5 different doctors in the DC area and everyone gave me an assessment and quotes I even went to Bosley and there I was told that if any of them told me they could regrow my hair, they were lying to me and wanted my money, oddly I loved that she said it cause deep down I had so many unanswered questions from these people. I took that as a sign that I do not need my scalp cut into. Some people will try and sell things they know won't work just to make a profit. So I ended up not doing it. I have scarring alopecia that cannot be explained so even if I was to get a transplant, it would most likely fall off 😩 no winning there
Do you have Alopecia? Did u you shave your hair off as well?
I've been battling with alopecia for the past 5 years. I frequently shave my head to combat losing my hair.
@Chella Mac it's very freeing. Also filming it allows you to see where you were at that time, and really see the raw reaction to it happening
