@@lula51648 right? like it didnt make sense at all! oh maya isnt maya bcus shes maturing and shes becoming a better person, how is that a bad thing? i would never understand the writers perspective on that. stating that maya would always have her edgy shitty darkside and that that was repressed bcus rileys good influence was rubbing off on her makes no sense at all. like wasnt that supposed to be the point? ppl change, and she changed for the better even if it looks like she lost a little bit of herself. they argued that the change started bcus of shawn and the clothes he bought her, like how is that bad? shawn is a symbol of hope in mayas life, how is it bad that shes opening herself up to hope and becoming a better person. its like they think only riley can be a nice person while maya has to stay dark and hopeless and hurt and broken. thats so f up like i even remembered watching that episode for the first time and just wondering if all of what theyre saying is an actual thing the show was trying to advocate. i genuinely thought that the notion that "maya isnt maya" was just a ruse riley made up so she can have lucas to herself. it was so weird and it literally came out of nowhere, im still so irked by it
I think what they were trying to go for is that Maya lost too much of her own individuality by emulating a lot of Riley's behavior and thus why she felt she developed feelings for Lucas because of it. That said, it was a little confusing and haphazard and does in hindsight seem like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and were trying to get out of it.
@@japanonlysays this is why I hate more than 1 love interest because they always write the others love off in some bogus and stupid way and this was really stupid by just saying that maya lost her self and was becoming Riley. I feel they just were trying to force maya into being her old self. Yet theybdidnt do that to anyone else like farkle..he changed yet they were okay with it
Wooow just realized another foreshadowing moment. When Maya said “you’re either with me or you’re not.” And pulled back the curtain? And how josh said cut the red wire and it will stop meanwhile Riley said her dream will start. It was like Maya pulling the curtain back to their relationship knowing it would be the end of them and the start of his and Riley’s but she did it anyways. GOD WHY DO THEY DO SO MUCH FORESHADOWING MOMENTS!?
The writers definitely wanted Riley with Lucas and felt they had to work backwards to get there when they headed so strong in the direction they did with Maya. Not saying it's right. The bias shows most with the idea of Maya and Lucas would fight all the time if together and the idea of Riley and Lucas would be too lovey-dovey together. So one's fighting could destroy the world and the other being lovey-dovey could destroy the world? That's reaching.
@@futuremovieactor I mean, it was kinda obvious from the start that the writers would go with Riley and Lucas. Having Maya with Lucas would be too real, too mature and too "intense" for Disney. (intense in the sense that the sparks between them were crazy. Lucas and Riley had literally none). And that whole play pretend situation made it even more obvious because of the bias. They needed to get people stop liking Lucaya, so they went with "their love would destroy the world" for some reason.
@@DeeFightingDreamer Yeah, say this had been ABC or Freeform, they wouldn't have played it safe. That said, I give kudos that they got away with as much as they did on Disney.
tbh i felt like lucas chose riley only bc its considered the right thing to do. lucas and riley kissed, riley was the first one to admit her feelings about lucas, etc etc. even lucas admitted that rather than obvious, he likes the quiet and mysterious type. this can be portrayed when riley is described as day, and maya as night. lucas chose riley bc he felt like thats what the universe wanted from him "lucas the good"
@@absujawal i wrote this 4 years ago, but regardless what i meant was he liked both of them in very different ways. even from when riley and maya first met him, it was maya who had to push either riley or lucas to the other meanwhile maya and lucas always shared their chemistry without anyone having to push them
I think the "Maya is Riley" storyline is dumb, it was called character development she wasn't even close to Riley if that happened I wouldn't like her as much
Maya was influenced by someone she thought was perfect. You can see her adapting to a new habit- she was in the middle of an identity crisis and Riley happened to be the best option to act like.
Aurora Nightingale She was happy actually. She loved Lucas & she had a stable father figure in her life who cared for her. She was getting good grades and such, they drilled into her head all that bs & made her think she wasn’t happy with it.
Ekoh Hm. I see what you mean. I have to rewatch the series again but I do somewhat agree with you. I think the way the writers wrote this was awkward. And could’ve been written in a way that made more sense.. more relatable and understandable. I think a lot scenes could have been written a lot better but I think most of it is awkward because it’s a kids show and there’s only so much they could do that wouldn’t cross a line especially considering how Disney has adapted to keeping it even more pg than it ever was before. Disney channel is so censored now.. I don’t get why. When I was younger, shows weren’t so censored. Sad really. This is why I really wish Girl Meets World was done with another tv company like Boy Meets World because then the possibilities and lessons and the depths are endless.
ARE YOU SERIOUS RILEY GAVE UP LUCAS FOR MAYA AT THE CAMPFIRE IN TEXAS. WHEN SHE REALIZED THAT MAYA LOVED LUCAS SHE GAVE UP LUCAS BECAUSE OF HER BEST FRIEND.
@@ladyluck01 and then continued to be a bratty baby about it and made it all about herself in the end. when maya started liking lucas nobody could see it coming because she hid it. because she actually cared for riley's feelings. can't say the same for riley.
Ida Klemenčič When it came to Riley and Maya, they would not fight or destroy each other for Lucas no matter what. That was why they couldn’t resolve things because neither wanted to give up on Lucas (until Maya realized she was too much like Riley) and neither wanted to push the other away to get him. I’m not saying they resolved it the best way though.

I liked Maya and Lucas together and they should have been the Endgame. Maya was making fun of Lucas because she liked him and didn’t Really know how to act around him like a Normal Person would with a Crush so she did what she knew best and that was to make Fun of him . Maya is awesome and she and Lucas would make a very Cute Couple and her best friend was annoying and didn’t even let Maya Speak her Mind and I hated that and I disliked her Annoying Best Friend. So with all that Maya and Lucas forever
@@lindseyhall5199 Well...everyone has different personalities and everyone acts differently around their crush some a confident some are shy some are overprotective and some just put on a show to hide who they really are
Exactly. The Texas special made me cringe so bad because Riley thought she was helping Maya with Lucas, but she wasn’t! That second part resulting in the campfire scene was because Riley PUSHED Maya to do something she wasn’t comfortable with, because in the campfire scene, you can CLEARLY see how scared and uncomfortable Maya was being alone with Lucas. Man, Riley annoys me so much sometimes. She’s not really a good friend.
When Maya made her comment about Josh, this is what I thought... What if Riley is just Lucas's fantasy and Maya was supposed to be his endgame? Just a thought, but I think I'm on to something.
Katherine Torres in an episode maya was talking about josh who she had a crush on since like forever and said “he’s a fantasy you don’t go out with a fantasy you just think about them all the time.” So I guess that’s what their thinking Lucas sees Riley like.
I feel like Riley was never his fantasy, but what he felt he had to do. She was the safer, more "boring" choice. Everything would always be sunshine and rainbows with her, she wouldn't tease him or mock him. The perfect fairytale. When in reality you'd want someone who can mock you, but in a gentle way that doesn't genuienly annoy you. Someone who excites you, can go along with you but also can lead a discussion. Oh would you look at that, that's exactly what Maya did. She was adventurous, they butted heads but always came to an understanding because they cared about each other deeply. Their love would be intense, exciting, the kind that even fairytales can't portray.
@@DeeFightingDreamer I think that is accurate, but sometimes he got tired of Maya. And he doesn’t like her view on life, it is at complete odds with the morals he wants to have. He went for Riley because she also has morals, while Maya actively chooses not to. The perfect person for Lucas is someone who can solidify those morals while also challenging them. The person who is able to do that surprisingly might be Smackle. She teases him in a way that isn’t as toxic as the way Maya does it (hers is borderline bullying and can bring him down if he has to be around her that often). He laughs every time Smackle acts like he’s flirting with her. He and Riley would be playing it safe, there are many episodes where they show that they don’t help each other grow. They also don’t understand each other, they just know a fixed view of each other (she sees him as the perfect guy/future veterinarian, and he sees her as this innocent girl who’s romantic), they will always be who they were in the first episode, no growth from there together. While Maya would change to the person he used to be before he came to New York, and that’s a step in the wrong direction. Smackle can help Lucas be more unique and Lucas can help Smackle be more normal (or at least know what is appropriate in social settings). And Farkle has changed so much since the first episode, and when Riley is with Farkle she is actually mature. To me, the best relationships in Girl Meets World are Riley & Farkle, Lucas & Smackle, and Maya & Zay. (Zay would provide Maya the adventure she’s after, and he also has morals like when Riley ate his cooking, that he won’t go too far in the deep end).
@@growingupwithdisneyik you wrote this 2 years ago but I fs agree with you about Lucas kinda not liking mayas morals but I also think Riley is able to push him when he needs to be pushed and isn’t so boring. She thinks of him as a “western hero” too and she helped him to ride the bull by having faith in him, while maya surprisingly didn’t want him to, even though she’s supposed to like adventure and danger. So although Riley and Lucas are the boring option I think they’re meant to be always together that’s why for so long Riley and maya thought that Lucas and Riley were like brother and sister because they had such a good bond. And I also like the pairings you did at then end, although I feel like those are just the best friendships between them. Sometimes people just need to be friends. Because in reality Lucas and smackle wouldn’t start dating because they’re so different. But by being friends, they can still help each other grow. Sometimes in a relationship you should be with someone stable like Lucas and Riley or smackle and farkle. They get along, they have fun, and they just like each other you can see their relationship lasting. I think Lucas always liked Riley because of her character and how he could talk with her, I don’t think he could really talk with maya the same way. I just finished rewatching it btw haha that’s why I’m kinda reflecting on it but I also lovee maya and josh I think they have the most chemistry, like they tease each other but you can tell they understand each other and can have good conversations.
I'm sorry but I do not ship Riley and Lucas. For me Riley was never my favorite character, she played around too much and was so stupid. Her morals were terrible. Like when Maya got mad because Riley sided with Lucas. I totally side with Maya. Riley wanted everyone to be there with her but didn't want to be there for anyone else. She was too much for me. Maya was the realest character on that show
The writers contradicted themselves with the Maya is Riley storyline. They made a big deal with Maya finding hope and People Change People then turned around and said ‘except for Maya’. Yes, a great message for the kids you were writing for. They don’t agree with Maya being rowdy, then they don’t agree with her bettering herself, so she goes back to what she thinks everyone wants her to be. Perfect storytelling 👍🏾
it was a purposeful contradiction (aka a bait & switch), i'm pretty they would have explored the "maya turning into riley" concept further and showed us why it wasn't true if there was a S4 :(
Omg could Lucas have just chose Maya!! I even would’ve been happy if he would’ve just been like “imma choose myself cause this triangle shit is stupid” as long as he didn’t choose riley
@@savannah5969 I mean that whole episode when Lucas was trying to decide, his comments about Maya were a lot more thoughtful and deep than his comments about Riley. Whenever he thought Riley was the one, he always changed it back to Maya. That whole Maya lost identity plot made him change his mind due to poor planning and sloppy writing. Wouldn’t be surprised if Disney had anything to do with it as well.
Is it just me that thinks at some point during these seasons the writers changed maya's character? Like yeah ok she broke rules sometimes but that's not all her character was. They made it seem like she took 20 steps backwards trying to find out who she was. Lucas and Maya would have been a great couple because even though they would tease each other it was playful, she knew when to be serious. But later on in the season they just kind of made her out to be a bully toward Lucas? Idk I could be looking at it wrong 🤷🏽♀️
I’m just so mad that during the campfire scene in the previous season they edited maya x Lucas kiss out because it was deemed “too passionate and heated” like let us have that one fangirl moment!
I am so confused on why the writers decided to ruin everything right at the end. They built Lucaya up this entire time from platonic teasing to romance, only to be like “Oh, Maya didn’t actually like Lucas. She made us all go through torture just so she could make sure Lucas was fine for Riley”. WHAT does that even mean?!? Lucas would’ve been with Riley so much earlier if that hadn’t happened! And why did she approve of him when he took so long to decide he liked Riley anyway? That was some whack logic right there. And it made no sense for Maya’s attraction to Lucas to just be chalked up to complete deception after all that development, especially since Lucas and Maya’s dynamic was so much more natural than Lucas and Riley’s. The writers could’ve at least developed Riley and Lucas more if this was the plan
Even Maya said you don’t go out with a fantasy Lucas was Riley’s fantasy Honestly Maya being Riley was a dumb storyline she grew up like people do she started caring about school and her appearance that doesn’t mean she changed herself maybe her interests just changed. When they changed Maya into “herself” she was dangerous and uncaring which that’s not Maya yeah she is adventurous but she is very caring and loving and wants the best for everyone. Riley was stuck in her own world and wanted things to be her way so everybody protected her from the real world and Lucas was her fantasy just a fantasy not one that’s realistic.
Биби Банкова Банкова yes. I found it annoying how Lucas had to choose between one and the other. There’s nothing wrong with having two girl best friends! I had 2 guy friends growing up who both liked me, but they actually controlled their feelings so I wouldn’t have to choose! Boyfriend and girlfriend is just too serious of a commitment. The 3rd season was terrible
lainey loo EXACTLY OMG THANK YOUUUU!! MAYA WAS THE CATALYST SHES THE SPARK, SHES THE FIRE! That yearbook episode when they described maya and Lucas’s relationship they said they are like fire and plus the iconic campFIRE scene!! THIS CANT BE A COINCIDENCE
@@crxmbly6272Not really Riley seemed too shy to go and talk to him by choice so even if they met at school Maya still probably would have been the reason they met
Anyone notice how when Lucas walks up to Maya after Maya says “I’m gone” she steps backwards as Lucas steps closer, not sure if it was intentional but in my view it’s as if to symbolise Maya stepping back emotionally afraid of being hurt if she lets too many people close to her, I just thought it was interesting personally.
Ok, just gonna put this out there (please no one cuss me out or hate on me as a person; I'm literally a writer, so this is why I say what I do): GMW did some things right and some things wrong, and I really want to explain what they did right and wrong just so I can see if anyone agrees (this might look like an essay, but I've had these thoughts in me that I need to get out): 1. Riley is a good friend. For everyone who's getting on her case, please consider that she's human just like anyone else. Riley cares deeply about Maya. When Farkle was being bullied, she went to help him. She idolized Maya so much in season one that she tried to be like her. She was the one who tried to get Shawn and Katy together. She sneaks out of the window with Maya to go to the college party so Maya won't be alone. Yes, sometimes she pushes her beliefs on others and she can be goofy or childish, but the whole point of the show was about Riley facing the world and learning about the truth. She very much does care about her friends, even if she thinks she is right a lot. For all the people who judge Riley for being so "self-righteous", take a look in the mirror when you scream at people in the YT comments. Riley encourages the people around her to take joy in life and the little things. And for anyone who says Cory was never like that, take a look at BMW. He wasn't perfect either. 2. Sabrina Carpenter is an amazing actress and thus became a favorite for the writer's, to the detriment and benefit of the show. If the other characters got half as much attention as they lavished upon Maya, I think the show could have been spectacular, but instead the show became more focused on her dilemmas and battles. That having been said, the writers really did her character wrong. For one thing, they had her grow, but then played an uno reverse card because they felt like they were stuck in a hole with her character and had to explain the Lucas and Riley ending by having her be the old her. Plus, I genuinely think they always wanted Maya and Josh to happen, so they just pretended the Maya and Lucas chemistry (which they clearly had too much fun writing and then realized this was leading into them being a couple) was not romantic. Ok now for the part I'll likely get fried on. Which ship works best. If I'm going to be honest? Neither works as the show is. Here's how I think either one could be improved, and then I'll explain what I would have done as a content creator: 3. Riley + Lucas: Riley and Lucas in season 1 have a sort of shy/middle school romance phase, so their interactions make sense. That having been said, there is, in large part, a lack of chemistry. I think this is mostly a fault of the writers, but there are clearly moments throughout the show where you can see what would have made them much more enjoyable to watch together. For instance, in S2E1, after Riley and Lucas decide not to be gf/bf quite yet, they sit in Topanga's and Riley goes off about sports and Lucas likes it, or the few times they do flirt and have good conversations, it's cute. The writers honestly needed to give us more moments like these to see what makes them work as a couple and not just as friends, because as is, they just seem too bland for most people to believe them as a couple. I think TV and films have conditioned us to think that a simple and sweet relationship without much bantering and extreme passion isn't really as great (which is sad to me), but it is just a fact. They don't work quite as much. However, if these moments had been added, I think it would have added a lot to the "Rucas" endgame. 4. Maya + Lucas: Maya and Lucas were not meant to be together in season 1. Maya seems very clearly happy for Riley and Lucas in that season. The writers were clearly oblivious of any romantic chemistry they seemed to add. For all the Lucaya fans, please stop getting into your psychology headspace and just take the show as is when you read this. Maya was not "desperately in love and stepping aside since season 1." That having been said, the chemistry of season 1 really played well into the relationship that the two of them built in season 2. I think Maya and Lucas would have been a good couple, but the way they went about it was all wrong. For one thing, Maya's identity crisis was dumb. Her "becoming Riley" made absolutely no sense. I get that Maya maybe lost her sense of herself in terms of not having her edge, but even that was so poorly done. Maya liking Lucas because Riley liked Lucas and she wanted to protect her? No. Friends would more likely sit down with the guy, rough him up, watch him to see the kind of person he is. But Maya knows that he's a good guy, that's why she liked him. Now, the Maya and Lucas we got in "Girl Meets Ski Lodge" didn't make sense for their characters. Here's the thing, I think Lucas did enjoy the banter. This is why Lucas put time and effort into getting under her skin in season 1. Maya dumping a smoothie over his head seems more to do with the fact that Lucas is talking to her like he would to Riley, and that actually would have been a really interesting topic to explore, this idea of communication between the two and how Maya needs to be able to take joy in the conversations she finds boring because Lucas finds them interesting. They needed to have more deep conversations, because it's obvious from the show that Riley and Lucas supposedly have these deep conversations and can talk about anything, whereas Maya and Lucas have more surface level communication. 5. I think Maya and Lucas getting together would have been beneficial for the show. I would have loved to see Riley's character grow as she learns to let go of her feelings and be friends with Lucas, as she helps Maya with her relationship even if it was hard for her, and I think it would have allowed Maya and Lucas to bring out the best in each other. That having been said, the way it was handled was poorly done and no matter who the writers had picked, the writing did not support either couple very well. I also need to emphasize. No matter what you feel about EITHER coupling, Lucas DID pick Riley. At the end of the day, Rucas did happen. Shippers on both sides, please have some respect. Don't say you "want to throw up in your mouth" or "you're so f***ing dumb" because someone else ships a character with another. This is a show people. And for the record, as a writer, I think GMW did something a lot of other Disney shows didn't. While it did have juvenile and boring filler episodes, it managed to also tackle some fairly important topics and had it gone on as BMW did, I think it would have succeeded even further at addressing modern issues. The triangle was dumb and poorly written, as are most love triangles because they're written as a cheap way to add drama. Pro-tip: if you're going to write a love triangle, it needs to make sense. Love triangles only work when a character isn't really in love with the two options, when they're not sure who's being honest between the two options, or when one of the options isn't a choice at all, but is caring from the side. Choosing between two attractive people who are opposites of each other is cliched and unrealistic. Don't take realistic as realism - you can have dancing unicorns - but human relationships and motivations need to make sense. Anyway, there's my two-cents. Sorry it's so long, but if anyone read it all, please let me know what you think (politely please). Thank you.
Wow..your comment summarise all the thing in gmw..to be honest riley having depression is interesting but it was not properly explore..and maya maybe she try to unconsciously to copy Riley's behavior..but not all..she wants to do good and try harder because she saw hope after Shawn came into her life unlike before she has no one who can really understand her(shawn facing similar problem as well) But to be honest this was aired a kids channel.kids don't care about character development..they just want to see something funny and simple.if this aired in a more adult channel maybe the characters can be properly explored. All in all is just a TV show. If you guys want a proper story with good character development trying writing Your Own..maybe someday It will be pick up as a series or movie..look at fifty shade.. It's started out as fanfic for twilight. Props to the actors did an excellent job bringing those characters to life.
You pretty much said it all. Just to add, (I don't know if this makes any sense but) remember when Lucas had to change school because he did something bad and then he learned his lesson and became a better person, Maya, because of her troubled life, naturally made some bad choices (she couldn't look up to Riley because she's always making mistakes too) so when Lucas showed up she started calling him “moral compass”. Maya's existencial crisis happened not because she was becoming Riley but because she was growing, she's becoming a better person because of Lucas. Maya and Riley were yin-yang so they complemented each other but Lucas was the one who was able to change Maya for the better “People change people”.
Maya and Lucas look better together....Also the way maya cares about him- It’s pure love 🥺😔 She deserved better..When she said go find Riley and tell her you love her, I started balling my eyes out ☹️😭👄
I really dislike Riley she is so selfish and self-centered she should know that Maya is perfect for Lucas and that she is stuck up seriously she should find someone else because Maya is perfect for Lucas but now that can't happen because of there's no season 4 #bringseasonfourofgirlmeetsworld
I agree with the comments about Lucas/Maya being endgame, and the writers were going to make them endgame in the next season or something like that, but it got cancelled so they had to write the end of the show around that. In my mind they're still endgame, though. As well as Riley/Farkle.
It’s awkward asf 😂 I think some of the characters are great but it’s the way it’s written. So much potential but since it’s aired on Disney channel it’s just so censored 😂
To those who went through all the comments clicking in all the time stamps just to know what scene people were talking about, even though you already whatched this video more times than you care to admit. . . . You're not alone
I want a spin-off where THEY are the endgame idc about Riley anymore 😭😭🤚🏼. Maya was always there for Riley, she might not be the best at affection but she was such a caring friend. She was much more mature than Riley. When did we see Riley explaining something to maya and giving her advice, being her shoulder to cry on. Lucas and Maya had much more than Riley and him but seriously 😭. Can we like get the endgame we wanted 💔💔
I just wanted maya to have a solid happy ending with like no loose ends idc if it was josh or Lucas but all we got was some ambiguous ending with josh 😭
If you watch the OG Run. It implies she ended up with Josh but she needed to wait three years when they both adults as Josh character was over 18 she was 15 in the show. It implies they get together when they both over 18. It was deliberately left open ended. If someone want a do reboot in the future of it they could. Some of OG Cast would not be in it like Corey Matthew’s character, as for rest it’s possible.
The: "Why'd you pour a smoothie over my head?" is so bullshit... Because the topic/conversation he was JUST about to start at that point, was the exact same that he did with Riley in the library. It was a borderline insult to Maya, that he'd use the same cheesy story for his date with her, which Maya OF COURSE already knew about through Riley, they share everything together. That's why she poured the smoothie over his head, cause he shouldn't think that Maya is like Riley on a date.
I loved how Riley turned when Lucas said Maya called him Bucky McBoing Boing coz of Uncle Boing in season 2. In that moment she may have realized internally that Maya could have a crush on Lucas before Maya even knew herself
It's not that she does not want a good man she want to have more control of her life. Don't we all at that age. As for me I was helpful to my family but at 53 I got my freedom. Now I do as I which. They need me more than I need them. Thank you Loader.
i hate when people hate on riley. you can ship lucaya without bringing riley down. HE chose her, if he had some sense he would choose maya. y’all better stop hating on riley
honestly, I think the writers tried way too hard in last season to separate Riley and Lucas romantically because they had a lot more chemistry in the first 2 seasons. they knew their endgame of Riley and Lucas so they kinda unfairly ruined Maya and Lucas' romantic relationship.
I prefer Joshaya way more cause he appreciated Maya for who she was, whereas Lucas hated how "troublesome" she was and her feistyness and felt the need to limit / change her. They're just a mismatch. Let's also not pretend like Maya wouldn't choose Josh ten times over Lucas. Riley and Lucas were stale, yes, and the whole "Maya turning into Riley" thing was bad writing, but that doesn't mean Maya should be with him. I don't think Lucas deserved either of them and he was also bland as toast. Ps. Riley was cuter with Farkle
Honestly even when I was watching the show, Maya and Lucas were cute when they were fighting and teasing each other, but I understood why Riley ended up winning him over. Maya and Lucas have two different dynamics and had they ended together, they would have broken up later because their teases will transition to fights. However Riley took interest in Lucas from the start - his life, his past, his ambitions etc, so they would balance each other out. I really like this show lol
That was what I also thought! But you put it into words lol I don’t think Lucas fully understood Maya which is why I would think that Lucas didn’t completely appreciate Maya’s way of being. Maya, it doesn’t matter if she grows and if she isn’t always breaking the rules, Maya’s always going to be this rebellious, free-spirited being which is the opposite to Riley and Lucas. Lucas doesn’t appreciate the rebellious side of Maya because of his past, however, I think if they were endgame he would have to learn to accept and appreciate that part of Maya. Not all trouble is bad.
I hate that they encouraged maya to be rebellious because they hated how she grew up like what the fuck like “why does it always got to be dangerous with you” YOU ENCOURAGED HER TO GO BACK TO THE DANGEROUS MAYA WHEN SHE GREW UP
Merry Christmas Sabrina carpenter you have come along way since girl meets world you don't know me at all I live in a horrible situation and I only Spanish women now hug's h
I can see why people prefer them over Riley and him because they have no chemistry. However I don't get people believing she'd choose/be happy with Lucas over Josh... He's cuter, older and actually has a personality. She'd drop him like a hot potato once that became a possibility, which is kind of what she did in Ski Lodge anyway.. 😂 Joshaya forever 🫶
Lucaya makes way more sense, honestly you can't even tell that Riley is Corey and Topanga's daughter except they're seen in shots together. Corey played a normal boy very well, Riley's...blah.

like i even remembered watching that episode for the first time and just wondering if all of what theyre saying is an actual thing the show was trying to advocate. i genuinely thought that the notion that "maya isnt maya" was just a ruse riley made up so she can have lucas to herself. it was so weird and it literally came out of nowhere, im still so irked by it
I think what they were trying to go for is that Maya lost too much of her own individuality by emulating a lot of Riley's behavior and thus why she felt she developed feelings for Lucas because of it.

Sad really. Exactly. The Texas special made me cringe so bad because Riley thought she was helping Maya with Lucas, but she wasn’t! What if Riley is just Lucas's fantasy and Maya was supposed to be his endgame?
Just a thought, but I think I'm on to something.
Aurora Greenwood can you elaborate?
I don't even watch this little show but for reasons unexplained, I really like these two together. I've seen them everywhere.
Even Maya said you don’t go out with a fantasy Lucas was Riley’s fantasy
Honestly Maya being Riley was a dumb storyline she grew up like people do she started caring about school and her appearance that doesn’t mean she changed herself maybe her interests just changed.

Ok, just gonna put this out there (please no one cuss me out or hate on me as a person; I'm literally a writer, so this is why I say what I do): GMW did some things right and some things wrong, and I really want to explain what they did right and wrong just so I can see if anyone agrees (this might look like an essay, but I've had these thoughts in me that I need to get out):
Here's how I think either one could be improved, and then I'll explain what I would have done as a content creator:
Thank you.
Wow..your comment summarise all the thing in gmw..to be honest riley having depression is interesting but it was not properly explore..and maya maybe she try to unconsciously to copy Riley's behavior..but not all..she wants to do good and try harder because she saw hope after Shawn came into her life unlike before she has no one who can really understand her(shawn facing similar problem as well)
But to be honest this was aired a kids channel.kids don't care about character development..they just want to see something funny and simple.if this aired in a more adult channel maybe the characters can be properly explored. All in all is just a TV show.
If you guys want a proper story with good character development trying writing Your Own..maybe someday It will be pick up as a series or movie..look at fifty shade.. It's started out as fanfic for twilight.

@@nurulatiqahabdulaziz9749 Honestly, I'd love to see someone pick this show back up or remake it in years to come because there was so much potential.

I agree with the comments about Lucas/Maya being endgame, and the writers were going to make them endgame in the next season or something like that, but it got cancelled so they had to write the end of the show around that. In my mind they're still endgame, though. As well as Riley/Farkle.

They are always together throughout the series. They also likes to make fun of each other, these two are literally meant to be.
the huckleberry bond song always gets me XD
"aLL yOu gOtTa dO iS pULL tHe rEd wiRe"
That Bond bit was pretty good.
I firmly believe that "Maya changed into Riley" plot was BULLSHIT
I like Maya.
She gives some of the weirdess nicknames.
One time my best friend and I fight for our guy best friend and it didn’t end up well
I'm sorry😭😭😭😭
Ayesha Mahomed haha don’t worry the three of us are now best friends
@@gc.1234 Oh, thank god!
Ayesha Mahomed 😊💞 hey I have a new insta accounts of quotes if you want to follow is called the.vibeclub
12:49 and 11:40 maya is soo cute omg
I want a spin-off where THEY are the endgame idc about Riley anymore 😭😭🤚🏼. Maya was always there for Riley, she might not be the best at affection but she was such a caring friend. She was much more mature than Riley. When did we see Riley explaining something to maya and giving her advice, being her shoulder to cry on. Lucas and Maya had much more than Riley and him but seriously 😭. Can we like get the endgame we wanted 💔💔
Not very related to the topic at all, but they should’ve took more advantage of Rowans voice
Wdym
Steven 0127 her singing voice, she has a pretty musical theatre voice
I never liked how this ended I always wanted Maya and Lucas together by Riley was a nerves reck and Maya know him like really knows him
11:40 mayas laugh always makes me laugh
I just wanted maya to have a solid happy ending with like no loose ends idc if it was josh or Lucas but all we got was some ambiguous ending with josh 😭
If you watch the OG Run. It implies she ended up with Josh but she needed to wait three years when they both adults as Josh character was over 18 she was 15 in the show. It implies they get together when they both over 18. It was deliberately left open ended. If someone want a do reboot in the future of it they could. Some of OG Cast would not be in it like Corey Matthew’s character, as for rest it’s possible.
"Just say it, we like it." Best advice ever!
1:23 welcome to high school bud
College 😂
“I durrn sOUnd lIkE thAt” 👌
The: "Why'd you pour a smoothie over my head?" is so bullshit...
I wouldn't want that either and i would do the exact same thing what maya did by pouring a smoothie on him
Can we just stop and recognize that they used A SCALE WITH CANDY at 1:29 like in Boy Meets World when Cory was choosing between Topanga and Lauren.
8:32 is gold
In hindsight this all could’ve been solved with polygamy 😂
Farkle wondered off and maya went after him But he only scolding Maya wow.
I loved how Riley turned when Lucas said Maya called him Bucky McBoing Boing coz of Uncle Boing in season 2. In that moment she may have realized internally that Maya could have a crush on Lucas before Maya even knew herself
Lucas and maya still have my heart
I ship Lucas and Maya hardcore they have this chemistry that is so interesting to watch
It's not that she does not want a good man she want to have more control of her life. Don't we all at that age. As for me I was helpful to my family but at 53 I got my freedom. Now I do as I which. They need me more than I need them. Thank you Loader.
At 11:41 is my fav 😅 Maya’s laugh is so cute
i hate when people hate on riley. you can ship lucaya without bringing riley down. HE chose her, if he had some sense he would choose maya. y’all better stop hating on riley
If they're 15 and Lucas is a year older, than couldn't they have thrown a sweet 16th for Lucas? Or do guys not celebrate sweet 16th?
Maya and lucas have alot chemistry
They would be an amazing couple
I'm so pissed, they should have ended up together.
honestly, I think the writers tried way too hard in last season to separate Riley and Lucas romantically because they had a lot more chemistry in the first 2 seasons. they knew their endgame of Riley and Lucas so they kinda unfairly ruined Maya and Lucas' romantic relationship.
I love how they also balanced with the girls
Just like what shawn and cory did in bmw
The Beets that’s a really good explaintion toward the show and I agree :)
Except when Riley found out the truth about Lucas’ past, she didn’t accept it, yet Maya did. She only likes the idea of Lucas, not his true self.
I ship Maya and Huckleberry. But she gave him up for Riley. And Riley doesn't give a shit about that😭 I love lucaya
I learned nothing from this show
This is my faivorait show ever my faivorait character is maya
I hate that they encouraged maya to be rebellious because they hated how she grew up like what the fuck like “why does it always got to be dangerous with you” YOU ENCOURAGED HER TO GO BACK TO THE DANGEROUS MAYA WHEN SHE GREW UP
Is it weird that I want them, when they're adults, to be together. Like Maya, Riley, Farkle, and Lucas.
Maya “I’m in love with Ireland” she just for showed her own future
AAAAH so cute both of them
🥰
I’m so confused can someone please explain the full love triangle unbiased
Merry Christmas Sabrina carpenter you have come along way since girl meets world you don't know me at all I live in a horrible situation and I only Spanish women now hug's h
8:30 Jason from Titans ?
Oh my god ur right
Yup! That's him alright! It took me a minute. 😅😅😅
Joshaya forever 🫶
I’m so glad I’m not the only one it’s just something about Josh and Maya 😍
@@IkraFurqan Exactly! And it's a full circle moment because in BMW Corey asked Josh if he'd like his own "Topanga"... now he has Maya.
I luv the scene that they used in both boy and girl meets world with the jelly beans
Lucaya wasn't my favorite ship (neither hated them) but this vid made me realize how much I miss GMW 😭😭😭
If I was Lucas I’d choose Maya over Riley. I just like her personality better, and I also think they fit better as a couple tbh.
"I know you lose your mind around me by the firelight but is it cool if I sit down?" 😂😂👏
I love it so very much because it is funny and great .
Lucaya makes way more sense, honestly you can't even tell that Riley is Corey and Topanga's daughter except they're seen in shots together. Corey played a normal boy very well, Riley's...blah.
Lucas cares so much about maya
