It is a foolish of her to have stayed in UK for almost 50 years without getting the UK passport. Anyway if her lawyer could display his ethics very well and fight for her case wisely and absolutely to the best of his knowledge there is every possibility that she will remain in UK undeported.

You get around 50% lighter sentence if you plead guilty. Lots of people plead guilty when innocent especially if you can't afford a lawyer.
In this case she didn't understand that slavery or enforced prostitution is extremely illegal, no question asked.
Next when you need legal advice please go to someone who is native to the country. I've heard so much bad advice been given. Anyone can be a lawyer with basic training.

I worked for a care home as an administrator. One careworker Nigerian got into trouble and the lawyer again advised him plead guilty, you will show remorse this is important to show you regret your actions then the sentence will be less. One refused he fought the case not guilty, he lost his job but he was acquitted. But when I asked him he told me the lawyers will always advise you to plead guilty, the lawyer wants an easy life defending cases and not actually doing much. Never plead guilty if you did not do the crime.

Also, no tie in to the woman that remained after her friend left- what role did she play? In addition, no denial of the crime. We are left with questions.

That was a terrible advice. Barrister was simply looking for a easy way out.
They deliberately set her up. The fact that it took so long for them to bring up a case it was obvious the case was not strong. They took a chance to trick her into pleading guilty and swiftly executed the rest of their plan to deport her. It is inhumane to treat her in that manner, she having lived peacefully there for overv50 years.

The lady’s situation seems a little unjust, especially as she’s been so compassionate towards less fortunate people than herself at one point while living in the U.K.

I have proven it many times. I trust no one. She had a right to take out her citizenship years ago. I don't know why people take so long to get their citizenship, when they plan to stay in a country. Sorry courts don't work like that in the uk. They don't ask for your explanation but only ask you to plead yes or no . Guilty or not guilty of the charge. Not the explanation as to why u are not guilty. If you say not guilty and they find you guilty then the punishment is up to triple the sentence you will get for just accepting guilty. You sound like you have never experienced the UK legal system . Pray never to . It is very very biased to colour .

There must have been some evidence probably a voice recording or photos to prove. A lawyer can't tell you to plead guilty if there is no overwhelming evidence.

Where is it a big deal if someone who raised all their children and are now grown is deported to their motherland? I have been living in the US for 47 years now and I swear to The Almighty God I will not lose a minute's worth of sleep if I am asked to leave. I was not chased away from Kenya and I would simply be going back to where I truly belong.

It’s easy to talk theory when you aren’t in that situation…
I understand what you’re saying, but when your whole life kid spent somewhere and you’re forced to leave when you weren’t ready, you will definitely feel something….. so Incoukd ask you the question why don’t you just move now since you don’t have any issue? Why did you go to the US and eventually get a US passport! If you have no sentimental attachment t to the country then return home… or commit a crime so the deport you and see if you won’t feel bad about being forced to go back.

    • @b.3940

This may come as a shock to many people but there are white Africans. White people born in Africa. If you do not accept this then you must accept that other people have the right to tell any black person born in any other country that they are NOT French/British/American etc and they should go home to Africa. Reverse racism is NOT acceptable. You are racist or you are NOT!

My grandmother my dad's mother was mixed in Malawi in the olden days white people came to Africa and some had children with Africans like my grandma, her dad is buried in Malawi. My first job was for a white architect in Malawi. He worked there living with his white wife and step son also white. But they were British just no trouble to them to work and live in Malawi.
