    Love the opalized petrified wood and the Dugway thunder eggs! All of them are really beautiful, especially the ones with botryoidal and that last one. I heard on another channel that a thunder egg can be a geode but a geode can never be a thunder egg. Makes sense. Thanks for sharing!✌️🤠

    So what mineral causes the beautiful blues

    • @theruggedrockhound
      @theruggedrockhound 10 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. In the mineral world, color represents an "impurity" or the presence of one or more elements that are nor normally part of the chemical formula. Blue can be caused by a wide variety of elemental mixtures, so without a chemical analysis I cannot be certain, but I suspect that iron is one of the elements. Maybe some manganese or chromium.

    How do you maintain your saw blade? I got a new blade, cut a bunch but now it's hardly cutting at all. I feel like it's still got life in it but not sure how to bring it back. I've tried using a sharpening stone to clean it but no dice.

      I don't, when the blade runs out I buy a new one. I can get a 7 inch blade for $15, and will usually cut around 100 rocks or so before I have to get a new one, depending on what I'm cutting

    How about a Water Pik to flush the sand from small geodes?
