As a woman fighting since october for the right to legal, safe abortion, democracy and a secular, sane country (and dealing with police brutality) here in Poland, which has been overrun by Catholic Fascists, I want to say you’re always my inspiration, and your music - a source of strength. ❤️❤️❤️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Sending you every ounce of love, energy & strength in your blessed fight my sister. 🤍💪🏋️♀️✊👊🇵🇱🇺🇸👊✊🏋️♀️💪🤍 Keep kicking fascist ass over there, we'll try to keep the fascists out of office over on this side of the atlantic.
I found out the hard way - driving from Minnesota to Cali, to try and break into Show Biz- You point a gun at someone you need to be ready to shoot it.
This is a masterful track packed with meaning, and her flow is so precise it hits on the femtosecond. I'm sad that quality like this isn't blowing up airwaves and top 40 lists. Because If all the shit you hear on the radio is McDonalds, Dessa's tracks are a home cooked nutritious meal for the soul.
Okay, so my dad is officially the coolest after introducing me to Dessa! I feel like I need to get a comment out there because one day Dessa should be on the top charts - she is an amazing singer, rapper, and most of all writer and I feel lucky to be among the first comments on one of her videos! May Dessa "swallow the dice and make her own luck now"!
Your dad is officially the coolest - coming from a mediocre-cool mom 😜 please send him my sincere props. Introducing young women to Desa isn't just a cool thing to do, it is a socially responsible thing to do. No doubt he sees in you great intelligence, potential & inner light. 🤍 Good on you both 🤍
@@obcl8569 Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! I totally agree (and I am thinking that you are more than mediocre cool 😎)! My dad was touched by your response. Reading your reply made me think of two times. First, when my dad responded to some women who thought that a woman wouldn't be a good president (I was so proud) and second when he introduced me to Lizzo before she became really popular - we were rocking out to "why men great til they gotta be great!" Dessa needs to be heard by more people today and her songs "5 out of 6" and "fire drills" should be heard by all young women.
2010 or so, I was travelling frequently and would pick up my dad who lived nearby to drive my car home from the airport. Back in his day he was a record promoter and even then still hip to new music. I left Badly Broken Code in the cd player knowing he'd listen to a few tracks at least. Sure enough, when he picked me up after that trip, he commented on how good that album was I left playing. That's from *my* dad, so I guess that makes him the coolest Grandpa. ;)
im late, but my dad used to place dessa in the car ever since castor the twin. i never paid much attention till recently. i started listening, realizing how smart her lyrics are. sometimes you hear something and you just sit there think about how clever that was. that's what having a audience is all about (to me, at least)- speaking up on important issues like these and still making enjoyable music. just felt like leaving a comment because of how similar our experiences were :)
My playlist on my phone cracks me up. It is almost nothing but folk music and some Americana/Country, bluegrass. Then a Dessa song comes on. Yep. How can she be denied?
Energizing me, putting steel in my spine and ice in my blood, to prepare for the ongoing fight for democracy that's still ahead of us. This song gives 2021 a sweeter start that we all need, a little morale to keep our chin up!
Much love Dessa! If we all throw bricks we must tear down are walls. Today marks one year of isolation in the bunker for me and yes I am starting to wonder if I will ever see my loved ones again.
Dessa is possibly my favorite rapper/singer/writer - triple threat. This song is... Not bad. Just busy. Maybe that's just my opinion. Felt like the song was struggling to get out of its own way, if ya know what I mean
@@rubyrayne8 My take~ Rich people call it the middle class... but really what used to be middle class has been squeezed so hard, that it’s a misnomer. Poor people just say poor... working poor...
@@samkatz7554 thanks for the response. I’m middle class and I feel poor, or broke maybe cuz it’s hard to not be paycheck to paycheck. I’m was thinking it was poor man, like oh poor man, kinda pitty. That goes along with the standing desk abs pound of fresh line. But idk.
@@viasuxx agreed. Nothing has topped A Badly Broken Code for me. I feel like those songs from that album were more about telling a story rather than trying to make a point. I can appreciate the direction she's gone in, but I don't listen to much from her anymore with the exception of A Badly Broken Code.
None of which you listed. I think there's been 2 songs I could take or leave since 2008 when I discovered her talent via a P.O.S show LIVE.she overtook t my attention maybe even the show, being in the "background ". A true talent on her own. Always.
She gets more into a phrase than most writers could put in a story.
Her lyrical writing has always been a strength of hers, and she is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down!
I'm so freaking psyched that my wife and I are seeing Dessa in Chicago this summer!

Passionate angry Dessa is a force to be reckoned with.
Damn. Dessa's combination of singing, rapping, and incredible lyricism is a rarity.
"Chekhov says you got a gun, you gotta use it.
Guess they’re reading Chekhov downtown, in their cruisers". Damn. Quotable off the bat.
....And so it’s all Rome now.
That whole verse is fantastic.
„St. Peter says „Tuck your chain in.” Like a blow to the stomach. She’s a genius.

How you know a song has transcended to something else: when a few carefully chosen words can unlock numb feelings and leave you crying like a baby.
Masterpiece.
Are you kidding me? Dessa is queen

Bom dia! É muito bom dar um passeio pelo seu jardim maravilhoso um verdadeiro paraíso. Vc é fantástica em jardinagem. 👏👏👏❤
It absolutely blows my mind that I've been listening to Dessa since Castor, The Twin dropped and she has somehow managed to get better every year.
No matter that this song is pessimistic af -- the world is so much better with Dessa in it! This song is so powerful and badass 👊
Nice!
Dessa killing it as always I see
How is she not bigger?!
Not enough people pushing her music to their friends and family and coworkers.
Mark my words Dessa is gonna hit it bigger than anybody will ever believe.
I like what's been happening to Dessa since she cleared her head of ghosts.
Dessa fucking swinging in with 2021.
Dessa, an artist who always gives us relevant, thought provoking lyrics. A sincere thank you for the anthem music to start my 2021.
Dessa is pure art in human form. Truly a phenom.
Also, could we please get an instrumental/karaoke of this track?
From the soul outward it comes. Dessa has got it. She could also get it, lol.
Cannot get over this song. Love it.
Don fireproof before touching.
Wow. This says so much packed in one song. Nuanced as ever while being utterly in your face. Dessa, I love you so much.

She can’t. An unstoppable force of energy.

Exactly. She has such a way with words.
My favorite version of Dessa. Passionate, intense and spittn those lyrics
Calendar alarms on the 15th every month for the rest of the year.

Never been away but so good to have you back. That double snare...
Dessa, you are an amazing singer , i barely take my ears off of your songs ,i just love your voice and lyrics ...nothing but love from Romania!
I normally Skip Ads, but this one of the first (in around a year) that I actually watched to the end.
This is good conscious rap on a good pop beat.
I really love Dessa
Your finest yet, Dessa. Nothing but respect.
I get chills every single time she releases something
Another gem by Dessa
Amazing.
Best release for ages, a real banger
Sooooo good.

I hope she releases a lyric video soon, I’m excited to unpack the verses
Full lyrics are already on bandcamp!

Why is there no Dessa/Watsky team up?
dope!

Poet.
Literally. She wrote "Pound of Steam" and "Spiral Bound" two books of poetry.
Love it
Nice.
Great video and song. Thank you!
Yes, love the song! Thank you for posting :)
Greatness!
Instant Anthem.

Dessa is the only good (and great) white female rapper. Change my mind.
She's half Puerto Rican
She's used that same chorus melody approx 45 times now by my count. It's like Dessa parody, I have no idea how she hasn't noticed.
